Sequels No Sam Raimi for Spider-Man 4?

Another director :whatever: :o

One that actually gets spider-man this time, would be ideal.

I'll never understand comment like this. There must be some huge element to the character that I (and apparently Raimi) have glossed over all this time.

:whatever:

What good would that do, if Marvel/Sony has way more control over the film than the director, and it's Marvel's own character, as they love and accepts most changes. So, good luck with that. The new director will once again be OWNED by Marvel/Sony.

I don't even know why they are making another movie. If they do...its going to suck.I say don't make another movie.Everybody is gone. They suck.No disrespect to the first three movies, but i guess they don't want to do another one.I say just leave it.Don't make another one.

Yeah, right, not make another movie to a 2.4 Billion dollar franchise, should I call you a dumbass now or later?

Never. Its going to suck if they do make another one.
I garentee you not a lot of people are going to see that dam movie.
So yeah,go ahead call me a dumbass.
Its going to suck!:o

I don't even know why they are making another movie.

Because the franchise is worth well over $2 billion? There's no reason for them not to make another one.

And we don't know who is or isn't returning yet, we have to wait for a script first. Even if Raimi and Maguire don't return, it's best to have an open mind about what new people can do. It's not like the same cast can keep doing this forever.

Saying it's going to suck this early when we know absolutely nothing is stupid.

I 100% disagree, first of all, they never said they wanted to leave. Second of all, why shouldn't there be another one? All three films have amazing actors and have been amazing films that have grossed 2.4 billion dollars. Spider-Man 4, without a doubt, should be made and it will be.

If it wasn't for the writer's strike, I wonder would we know more about SM4...?

Whos they? If they is Toby and Kirsten, they did say they were not going to make a 4th movie.

I don't know,i may be wrong.

Most likely not, though I really don't know how fast Vanderbilt is when it comes to writing. Hopefully he has been putting it together mentally while not working.

Hopefully. For now, the only confirmed tidbit for his vision is two villains max., according to the trades.

I'm sure he has put things togeather mentally. It's always good to know what your going to write in your head when you put it on paper.

Evidently it would seem so. Raimi does NOT get spider-man, if he did we wouldn't have 3 movies with botched characterizations. Look at the 90s animated series, they didn't exactly rip storylines from the comics but for the most part, the stories worked, primarily because they had the characterizations locked down. Even the 1st spider-man game on the psx, storywise is arguably the best spider-man game ever made and again because who ever wrote the script for that game knew what they were doing and knew what spider-man was about. The story was original, inspired by the comics and most noticeably, they got the characters right. Every character in Raimi's spider-man movies are lacking and only show one aspect of their true habitual character and that is what ultimately ruins these films. The people who worked on the 90s TAS and spider-man 1 on the psx knew the characters and made it work for the media they're working in. Raimi failed simply because he just didn't get a handle on the nature of these characters he was using. As for Marvel and them liking changes, it makes no difference. Hiring a writer is what it is. It is up to the writer to tell his story of what he thinks is spider-man. If it is accurate enough to match the characters from the comics, that is fantastic, hopefully we'll get these characters in an awesome story. If not, I and others will be here announcing our disapproval and disappointments. Its not a hard concept to understand where I and others are coming from. Season 1 of the 90s TAS is far superior to anything Raimi has done with the characters and that cartoon came up with their own stories but again, they succeeded in capturing the aesthetics of the characters. So, until a writer/director can get a handle on exactly how these characters should be, the spidey movies may make tonnes of dough but to some fans that really do care, they'll continue to suck. P.S. There's a reason why shows like spider-man unlimited and even the MTV series only had one season...go figure it out if you still don't know.

This is the smartest thing you've ever said. You should tell this to your pal, spideyhero12.

You didn't even answer my question. You can repeat "Raimi botched the characters" all you want, but until you can actually provide examples, it's all just hot air.

WTF, it makes no difference? It's their characters not ours, it makes all the difference in the world, they approve of all changes made, in and out of comic books.

Season 1 of the 90s TAS X-Men, Superman and Batman are superior to their movies, as well, even the Spawn cartoon and its movie, different animal. Here's a tip, watch the cartoons and not the movies. As for the changes, they will not stop, in the comic books and out, unless Marvel wants it to...and they don't. Actually, they haven't for close to 20 years, so you've got a long struggle ahead of you, good luck with that.

You didn't ask a question. I made a statement by responding to what you said in your post. As for proof of poor characterization...go read the comics then go watch the damn movies. If you're still having a hard time trying to identify where the lack in characterization is, then you are beyond help and a complete waste of time.

Marvel have been known for their changes since the 60s. However, my point is, who ever writes this new script isn't going to face any opposition unless he's writing a script that exceeds a budget of over $500 million or something ridiculous like that. Had the rights to the movie not been in a legal mess back in the day, I'm willing to bet Cameron's crappy script would have seen the light of day. Essentially, this vanderbilt guy can write what he wants and it'll be accepted more or less with maybe a redraft here and there ...this is why it means a lot to me and others that this guy enters the game with some real accurate knowledge of the source material, primarily the actual characters.

I know and that is why I made the comment about the people involved in writing the game and cartoon knew the characters and adapted it to fit the media they're working in.

I do and I am watching the cartoons. However, that doesn't change the fact that these movies still do a poor job at capturing the characters properly, especially when you consider the fnancial resources as well as the source material at Sony/Raimi's disposal. Changes are expected and they've been made in the comics, cartoons and games and this is since Marvel's hey day. So, change isn't the problem, the problem is, the type of changes made and Raimi made some pretty bad ones.

Says Mr. I want an R-rated spidey movie. The irony is, at least its actually possible for me to get what I want but as for you and your R-rated hopes......lets just say, Oscar, keep that candle in your trash can well and truly lit. Lol.

You didn't ask a question.

Hmm, you're right. So let me rephrase my post in the form of a question: is there some huge element to the character that I (and apparently Raimi) have glossed over all this time?

Now see, that isn't an argument. You can't just make a claim like "Raimi botched it" without any kind of specific proof behind it.

I've read the comics. I've watched the movies. I do not see this huge divide between the characterization in the comics and Raimi's interpretation. Some details were changed to better fit the medium, but the spirit of Raimi's characters is not at all different from the spirit of Stan Lee's characters from 40 years ago.

And yeah, the cartoons and video games are probably more accurate than the movies are, but that's because they can get away with more. The whole appeal to the superhero film genre is taking something fantastical and grounding it in a kind of pseudo-reality. So of course the movies aren't going to be 100% translations of the comics, as they're striving for something a bit more real and a bit more widespread than the comics. But like I said, the spirit is still the same. I do not at all feel that Raimi has somehow betrayed the very essence of Spider-Man. And while you might feel that way, it's hard to take you seriously if you refuse to give any kind of support to your position.
