Hey, would one of those Spidey movies be R-rated? Come on, you knew I was gonna ask. :hehe:

I was never a big Raimi Fan and i wouldn´t be really interested in a fourth Raimi Spidey Flick,i want something fresh and new something totally Different. The next three Spidey flicks should have a new Director and a new Cast.

I think Raimi should be replaced and the person to replace him should be Joss Whedon. I recently saw serenity, a great film btw and the Mal's humour would have been perfect in capturing spidey's persona without coming off as cheesy.

I don't care, both ideas are fine, Raimi is adequate at what he does, but I would be equally excited for a new Spider-man movie if they chose a good director, but he better have a descent track record.

Man I should really rewatch the Spider-man movies, I haven't seen them in a while. My opinion has changed so much since I last saw them, I need to get my priorities in gear.

I would love to see someone else have a tak on Spidey, I would simply love it. But this would risk having a new lead, and I want Tobey Maguire to stay.
If Sam Raimi takes about a year break from Spider-Man and is able to start fresh with Tobey Maguire then I think a Spider-Man 4 could be great (although a new screen writer would be welcome) just tell Maguire to be more mature and serious. He can talk smack when fighting the bad guy but lets keep the one liners in the battle.
Back to the topic, if Raimi can take a break and renew his mind (whatever that means) then I think having him direct Spider-Man 4 has a good chance at succeeding.

Part of me says yes, the other part says no.

I'd say let him do 1 more, and then do a new director.

Reboot should be later on when they can't keep on going off of the continuity of the original films.

The movie already have a 'new' screen writer:James Vanderbilt.

This series needs a new director. Raimi did a great job with the first two and I thought he butchered the third movie. It could be time for a new direction, a more serious film, a more grown up film. I would like to see the maturity of Peter Parker go passed a 14 year olds' audience. In no means do I want a dark, Batman Begins-like film, but I do want atleast a more serious tone. I think if Marvel had the full rights from Sony we would see something better than what we got with Spidey 3.

out with RAIMI in with UWE BOLL. No but seriously.......in with Uwe Boll.

P.S. Raimi's movies didn't have a supporting cast? Say what, again?

Peter didn't have a life in those movies. Damn, we get he has problems, but does his life have to be so ****in miserable? I have problems paying bills, but I can still talk to my friends, laugh, and be a smart ass too. Not have EVERY scene be awkward between Peter and whoever he talks to. Talking to MJ has been awkward since the 2nd movie and Harry's been off the deep end since the 1st one.

Where's Randy? Felicia? Gloria? Debbie? Flash? Liz? and so forth. These are all people he, Gwen, Harry, and MJ should have been interacting with on a regular basis.

And where's the super agility for crying out loud? That's one of Spider-Man's most visually appealing attributes. All we get is one somersault here and there once in a while. I wanted to see Spider-Man back flipping all over the place, dodging tentacles, I didn't get that once. Instead I got Spider-Man face to face with Ock in a boxing match. In all honestly Spider-Man should've landed only one punch on Dr. Octopus, and that should've been at the end of the movie, in slow motion, for full effect.

I would like a new director with Raimi as some kind of producer to help maintain some continuity. I really liked his take on Spidy but I would like to see some one else directing.

I have Sony on the phone, I think they want to offer you a job.:cwink:

Seriously though, I agree with you on all accounts.

Well if this script is good then I do believe Sam should return. Spider-man 3 script was garbage abut SM 1 & 2 were solid as a result we got solid movies. If not Sam Raimi then I wouldnt mind if J.J. Abrams took over

if i had any say at marvel studios, i'd bring back james cameron as director, keep raimi as producer, and bring on other heroes - luke cage and iron fist into the mix...
oh yeah, and the lizard needs to be the main villain...

rock on...:liz:

Oh well, looks like we can probably look forward to more Spider-Wuss films with Raimi/Maguire and co, ugh....

to me it doesnt make any sense that some people praise the guy for the first 2 films and he messes up once and then everybody turns on him...bashin him like hell but when the first 2 came out everyone was on his nuts...i say keep him, not everyone is perfect

Maby we should see how other directors can do with it, just do one film. Harry Potter has like 4 different directors, and all the movies made a **** load of money. I wouldn't mind having Raimi back, but getting a new director wouldn't be bad either. IMO new directors always want to do a better job with than previous films, so i doubt a new director would screw up a huge franchise like SM, to me it's a win/win situation

I won't try arguing Peter not having a sense of humor or being less awkward, as that you have a point with (albeit I don't full agree with what you're saying). As for the rest of the supporting cast. I actually support streamlining it to mostly being MJ (not necessarily how she was written), Harry, Aunt May and JJJ with Robbie, Betty and Dr. Conners having small little fun parts.

I mean if you make it too big, with too many characters it either becomes an ensemble piece or overstuffed and not focused. SM1 and SM2 narrowed it (and Flash had a small part in that and Norman and Uncle Ben were present) and it worked. You simply cannot have long meandering subplots with numerous supporting characters. If you do that it would just get top-heavy. Look no further than SM3 when they added Eddie Brock and Gwen Stacy to minimal effect. It was just too much. You have to keep it simple in a film. Otherwise SM3 type problems will appear. That is the difference between 2 and 3 (well one of them).

As for agility. Meh, I thought Spidey moved pretty damn beautifully in SM2 and SM3. In fact I have no complaints whatsoever with Spidey's agility. I do wish there 3-4 more quips in SM2 as it would have brought out his Spidey personality much better, but oh well.

You re right but life is unfair and every director should know that. Doing sequels is like telling a joke many times. The first time the joke is very funny the second time just funny the third time its so so then after that you have enough of it. It's not because we want a knew director that it means the previous one did a bad job. It's really rare that a director stay sharp after a trilogy. Most of the time it fail. So why Raimi should take the risk to destroy what he did good in the past? I would strongly recommend to try something else or take an other superhero like' the flash':cwink:
