That's the million dollar question in the midst of all the box office returns, critical evaluations and general fan dispute: should Sam Raimi direct the alleged Spider-Man 4, 5 and 6 that Marvel and Sony want, or is it time for Raimi to move on and let a new person take charge of the franchise?

If Raimi returns, he should make the Spider-Man movies HE wants, not Sony and Marvel. I loved all three Spider-Man movies, so I would LOVE to see him come back.

I would be happy with one more Raimi film, and no five or six and instead a reboot with a new vision. Thats just me though.

I wouldn't mind Sam doing another Spidey Movie, but I'd like to someone new have a try.

With another Trilogy I'd like to see a less dorky, but more mature Peter Parker. Also I'd want them to tone the camp a little down. There should still be comedic scenes and humor, just less campy.

i loved all 3 Spidey films, and yeah i think he should stay, he's a big fan...at least ONE more would be great!

I've enjoyed the first 2 Spider-Man movies despite some boring parts (haven't seen the 3rd one yet:() but I would say keep him around for the remainder of this series so the films can still have some level of continuity or as long as the original cast continue to want to do the movies.

I would love to see other director's visions of the Spider-Man character though but not everyone will get to direct a Spider-Man movie.

I don't think he should be coaxed into doing any more Spidey films. If he's bored and wants to move on to other projects, let him do so. If he decides he wants to do more, which I don't think is the case, then let him go forward.

I say keep him. He knows what he's doing. And if sony wouldn't interfere with him so much he could do it better.

yea it was the studios fault the last one sucked kinda and im pretty sure he WANTS to do more 49erVenom.. i mean, he grew up with Spiderman, im sure its like a dream come true to him.. too bad Avi forced him to do stuff he didnt want. im sure he had a brilliant idea for 3

I would like to see him do at least one more. Mainly because I think he would do great with the lizard, it is his kind of villain.

That being said, I would like to see another director and cast eventually. Especially since the energy level from this group was kind of lackluster with number 3.

right now though, it really seems like an all or nothing deal with the cast and crew. Either we will get a huge overhaul, or it will stay almost exactly the same.

Yes. I would prefer seeing Raimi return once again. And quite honestly, I think theres a pretty good chance that he will in time. Just as long as Raimi gets to tell the story that he wants to tell with no "suggestions" on who should be included.

Only if THE LIZARD is the main villain, should Sam Raimi return to do SM4 with the same cast. If not, then a new director should take the helm, along with a new cast. There is nothing wrong with finding new blood to write, direct or star in a Spider-Man film, as long as they take your time to find the right people.

I would also like to see new writers working on SM4, regardless of whether Raimi is still the director. New blood is needed no matter what. I'd like to see Sony hire writer(s) outside of the previous films. This means no David Koepp, Alvin Sargent, Alfred Gough & Miles Millar, Sam Raimi, Ivan Raimi, etc.

If there's no new blood in the writing department, then maybe it's best for a new director to come in, and shake things up in all departments for the better.

Do I want to see him handle Lizard and Tobey and Kirsten handle the Spider-Marriage (or wedding at least)?

Yes. After 4 I think they need to escape before Sony runs it into the ground (which will happen by SM5 or SM6) but I want one more to wrap up the love story and Raimi doing Lizard brings a smile to my face.

So, yeah.

yea, Raimi still needs to marry Tobey and Kirsten and kill off Rosemarry Harris

i'd have her die shortly after Peter and MJ's marriage, it'd be sooooo sad :csad:

but perfect though!! :woot:

imagine having "farewell" play in the backround as Peter and MJ stand around her death bed as she tells Peter that she knows that he's Spiderman and that Uncle Ben will be sooo proud.... GOD! that brings a tear to my eye!! :csad: :csad: :csad:

SM3 was disappointing.... so its time for a change. THe only reason why people want him back is so that he can finish Conner's arc (the arc that he started)... but SM4 with Lizard doesn't seem to be a grand finale to the series so that reason alone doesn't merit his return... I am sure someone else can handle Lizard as well as the next two films... Raimi can still produce... good riddance to him and these two actors hopefully...

the reason why SM3 sucked was because the studio forced him to do something he didnt want to just so they'd earn more money

Keep Raimi. The man knows what he's doing. The Sony and Marvel threw a bunch of villains/plots at him for Spider-Man 3, yet he still managed to make a great movie. Granted, Spider-Man 3 isn't as good as the other two, but considering the disaster it could have been (*coughcough* Batman & Robin *coughcough*), I am extremely happy with how this franchise has been turning out so far!

I strongly believe that Venom should be left alone for Spider-Man 4. He can come back in the 5th.

Actually, I'm glad he put Venom is SM3 and then killed him, now we won't have to be bothered with the character anymore. Another plus as to why I like SM3.

I have to go with the second option, we need something fesh, a new start to the franchise. Not because Spider-man 3 was bad, I liked it, but in life there are cicles and this one, seems to be finished.

Sam's movies were both great, so he should continue making them. Spider-Man 3 (even though I liked it) was full of compromises.

Spider-Man 2 was the closest to a Raimi movie without studio interference (they were more hands-on first time, which is one of the reasons they hired him and compromised his third movie by inserting Venom and the symbiote). But SM1 was very good and SM3 was still pretty good. SM2 was excellent though and the high mark fo superhero movies tto this date.

I say just give him Lizard and say "Marriage." Let him run free. It will turn out much better, I think. I personally owuld recommend ASM #44-#45, the 30th Anniversary 36-something ASM and another from the '90s about drugs as the greatest Lizard storiesand Kraven's Last Hunt but I wouldn't force him.

Besides he'll do what he wants with the movie let it be more complete and make it his full vision. Go out on that.

And I really don't want to see SM4 be about Peter/MJ getting married and it star Shai LeBeouff and Mandy Moore.

Do Spider-Man 4 right and my favorite villain right, the Lizard. After that, Sony can go ruin the franchise for all I care. The important story (the love story) and the best villains will be done.

Oh and Visionary, you bring upa very good point. NOw that Venom is dead we don't have to worry about that anymore. EXCEPT, now we have a few hundred threads in the next year about "BRING VENOM BACK!" or "BRING ON CARNAGE" or some such craziness.
