Deadline: ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Close To Stealing 2nd Best Domestic Box Office Opening Record Away From ‘Infinity War’ With $257M-$260M

Down to the wire, buckle in!

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Defeats ‘Infinity War’ & Notches 2nd Highest Domestic Opening At The Box Office With $260M.

Sony has just made it official: their latest Marvel movie Spider-Man: No Way Home is the second highest opening ever at the domestic box office with $260M, beating Disney/Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War‘s $257.698M. Until Sony updates their international B.O. later this morning, this will take the Tom Holland-Zendaya-Benedict Cumberbatch and greater ensemble to a $594.2M global debut, still the third highest ever behind Avengers: End Game ($1.22 billion) and Avengers: Infinity War ($640.5M).
Deadline is reporting a 260m tally, it passed Infinity War for the #2 all time OW.

Absolutely insane BO numbers.

Well deserved.

This could have easily cleared $2B if it opened early in China. Hell, it might still can if it does get released there next year, but either way its looking to be a massive success and it deserves every penny IMO.

The drops throughout the weekend are crazy good, which is likely why it was able to hit $260M this weekend.

I wonder what Sony will do to pander to the CCP. I think it's unlikely NWH will release there given the tension between China and The West.

Deadline says the final domestic haul could range from $712M to $950M. CRAZY.

This had 300m written all over it in a non pandemic world

I remember when the first Raimi movie was the first movie to ever have a $100M opening weekend. That to me will always be more impressive just because there was no such thing as a shared universe then, nor were comic book movies as accepted as they are today.

Yep. That 3.5X multiple is crazy, even for 2002. Only Wonder Woman had a better o.w. multiple (4X) than the web slinger.

Wow. I'd love that but I think this does Infinity War numbers tops. It will be interesting to see how far the legs can take it's box office.

I’ve got used to seeing muted numbers since the pandemic started so going back to high Avengers-like number feels crazy while it’s still going on.

Black Panther beating Infinity War domestically is arguably the craziest box office story of the 2010's

I'm guessing 750-800 domestically when it finishes its run. It's not going to have TFA legs, but it's going to have good legs.

Not sure about world wide, but I guess 1.6-1.7 billion because I think overseas will beat domestic by a little.

But to be honest I'm not really factoring Omicron. Who knows how much that will hurt its run.
