A little while ago I heard Nolan say that the movie won't be the same as the first, since that's done and the origin is taken care of and he wants it to look different too, I'm so happy to hear this. I couldn't sit through another 2 and a half hours of a brown somewhat boring movie, I hope the next one feels more like the comics.:batty: :hq:

I havent read the interview with Nolan saying he wants it to look different.
Can you quote the source?

The look of Begins is what made it such a great film. It had a real world feel to it, and at the same time, it was fantastical enough stretch the imagination. If we get a movie more like the comics then we're looking at a mix between Begins and Burton, and that's a movie I don't want to see.

He didn't particularly say it would look different, but that it'd be a different type of movie than BB. The quote was really quite vague. It could mean nearly anything this point.

...k.

More Fantasy. Royal Flush Gang and Mad Hatter in a Wonderland.

i think he had it right.
i was IMMENSELY pleased with the first one.
i think it was the first time that a comic to screen venture has really been taken seriously and the director and writer understood that it doesn't have to be hoakey to translate.
if there are changes in the look i hope they're minimal or at least well managed, which i'm sure with Nolans movie making skills, they will be.
the comic books are fantastical but also very dark.

i really didnt dig the brown overtones..dark blues fits it sooo much better.

yeah cause its so good.

I dont mind the rust tint I just wish Nolan would toss in a blue scene for us comic fans.
Just one!!

like what I said in another post, Nolan's director of photography could use hard lights like in Million Dollar Baby (not as extreme) or in Spider-Man 2. It's looks nice :)

No offense, but your taste in movies is pretty bland.

the look of begins wasn't that bad. But Nolan CAn improve it.

i don't what y'all have with this "brown" crap, y'know? THE LOOK OF BATMAN BEGINS IS GREAT... Christopher Nolan watched Blade Runner with his crew and told them: "That's what it has to be like". And Blade Runner has the same futuristic but still realistic and gritty atmosphere---like Batman Begins!

Have you ever read Batman: Year One? Has the same pallette... same with other Batman comics (TLH has partially the same look)...

Nolan is color blind, meaning he can't tell his red from green, hence all that brown.

WEll I think as some other poster said that blue hues is a bit cliched and it is. The rusty hue works great in nolan's bat-universe because it gives that gritty feeling and also it makes gotham look like a hell hole specially in the narrows which is where that hue is mostly used. I think the jokers red, green, and purple colors will be a great contrast with the brownish/yellowish rusty hue. The dark blue hue gives it a cold place effect and at the same time it gives a much more fantastical look to the scenes, but that's not what nolan is looking for, the rusty hue gives a sense of desperation of dirtyness, and therefore making batman look even more spectacular and hero like when he comes to the rescue if you know what I mean.

I have to disagree. I really liked the "real world" feel of Batman Begins. That's part of what made the movie great and part of why it's saved the franchise.

I'm with you. Anything but the gothic storybook look. That was a different time and is over now. While I'm still loving the Blade Runner look from BB, I'm kind of hoping that TDK has a look of the gritty Asian movies coming out like Oldboy. Considering that the Joker will have a big role in this movie I'm also hoping to see the look of the classic noir film The Third Man.

Nolan said it best himself in an interview: IT's not he dismissed Tim Burton's Gothic style. He likes it. However, if Nolan did the samething, then he would be doing an interpation of another person's vision instead of his own.

Also, then you'll get fanboys complaining "Oh he's just copying Burton's gothic look..blah blah blah".

Yeah, I think that he basically meant that the movie will look different than BATMAN in comparison to the way the Joker/Batman relationship will play out. And that the feel of the movie will be different than BATMAN BEGINS, in my thoughts, it will be a smaller scale and more of a crime drama. Just my thoughts.

I'm glad that Nolan isn't pulling of Schumacher I mean Schumacher copied Batman Forever then put them on Batman & Robin so I'm glad that Nolan will go will different approach to the character

WEll I think this movie will be on a more personal level more intimate. However the scale shouldn't be reduced since I think the joker will affect the whole city and the joker will bring more psychopaths to help him wage his war. I'm hoping that the joker also kills people in the criminal world and not only cops and socialites.

That's exactly what I thought when I first saw Batman Begins, the color pallette is VERY similar to Year One. The Blue.Black was DONE in the last Movies, and it's played out IMO.

Honestly, I enjoy the fact that the two different mediums can offer two different things, so not really.

Why? Because I preferred the look of Begins to Burtons's any day of the year? You may like the obviously fake gothic backgroud Burton had to offer, however, Begins made me feel like I could go downtown and possible see Batman standing on the State Capitol. That excited me far more then anything I had seen prior to that. Taste has nothing to do with it. I guarantee we could go down a list and agree on almost 100 movies. People that try and call bad taste on someone after seeing what they have to say about one movie are idiots.
