It's insane I know but I think Nintendo is trying to squeeze the 3DS dry.

There's an Animal Crossing thing and new "new" 3DS colours coming early November.

well as I mentioned above " late November to december" it's one of the month's I suspect as well , as said to Solidus above in this same page . if not late October after Halloween. We'll see.

I remember some of the early buzz was that it would be at least as powerful as PS4 or maybe even more powerful.

but then the latest stuff I heard, which I mentioned, was that it was between Wii U and X1 in terms of power. so a bit of a power downgrade there.

also, it seems more and more likely that the NX will be a console/handheld hybrid - so maybe that's why it's not as powerful.

but really, Nintendo doesn't need the most powerful console. not with games like Zelda.

and if the NX is more powerful than the Wii U, then that's a bonus.

with that being said, it would nice if the NX takes advantage of 4K and HDR tech. especially HDR, given the nature of Nintendo's games ( they tend to be colorful and fun ).

I'm more interested in the price point. a $300 price point, with Zelda and a few other launch titles, would be ideal for me.

I had originally thought it would be more powerful than PS4 although the Pro and Scorpio being announced later made me think they might in turn be more powerful again than NX. Didn't expect below X1! But it's true that they don't need to compete on that and are probably better off trying to attack from a different angle. Certainly need to do something different to wii U though.

The hybrid thing might be the route to go if they can recreate any of the success of Pokemon Go. There probably only is room at the table for 2 companies at the console tech forefront. Makes sense for a third to innovate in different ways and target a broader market.

I'm a bit iffy on the hybrid concept. I wanted a full blown home console that could compete with the PS4 and X1.

but, I'll wait to see what it actually is, does, and looks like.

still, if they are indeed planning for a March release, it does seem like they should be revealing stuff soon.

I did as well, I thought they would be out in front as the only mid-gen console back then. But if they are going to go the low-tech route I would rather they try things like this and properly differentiate themselves. The problem with the wii U (unlike the wii) is that it was the same product as the others, just much weaker.

it is coming 3 and a half years after the XB1 and PS4. There was no way it was going to be able to compete with those 2 when theoretically they should have a collective install base of close to 100M units by next spring. It also wouldnt have been wise for them to try and jump start "next gen" bc the Wii U theoretically did that and failed bc it came out too soon and was quickly ourperformed by Sony and MS's successors' anyway. Nintendo is probably doing the best thing with this hybrid approach if the rumors pan true. They make money in the handheld space. There is too much to lose if they were to devote all their resources to a dedicated home console

as long as they can deliver with a strong and robust selection of 1st party titles, that's all I ask for from Nintendo.

I'm not buying their console to play 3rd party titles. it's strictly for their exclusives like Zelda and Metroid and Mario.

If they combine their handheld and home console divisions, their software output should be better than it has been this past gen bc all of their studios would be developing for one console as opposed to splitting series between two lines of hardware.

They are going to need third parties as well though as that cant be ignored. Unfortunately I dont see how Nintendo can really sell them on it if the console is too different from the rest bc that makes porting a hassle and not worth the effort many times

Imagine if the NX got delayed when the Xbox Scorpio/PS4 Pro had their specs unravelled to the world, i mean a supposed 9th gen console being weaker than a regular Xbox? Jeez :/

Nintendo always has a point to prove, I think. They could easily wait till Scorpio and Pro are released and ramp it up, but I think it's always the principle of the thing for them.

Im sure it definietly got delayed but that has nothing to do with the Scorio/Pro's specs. The NX is rumored to be weaker than the XB1 and PS4 that launched 3 years ago. Nintendo obbviously doesnt care about power

I have feeling they are going slow with it so they won't give any of their competitor's any idea on the spec's of the system.
It's like being first at giving those other's a look at your system , so they can make similar but stronger system all cause you went first and they have time to look it all over. And they don't care for the system war's like they used to. it'll happen regardless but they want their time with it out for a bit. .

And looking what other's did with nun chuck controller from the wii . And even though the wii U was considered Failure, alot of other's did copy the screen controller or tablet in their own way or tried to have you still playing game's from you home console when you couldn't on your living room tv screen . via hand held or other mobile device.

when you think about it'smore about their own spec's be copied which is why are taking they time partly. like I said in the quote panpopo in operation rain fall, which he gave me an agree there. there's alot people copying what Nintendo did. not fully to the same degree, but alot of failures or were copying them regardless in some way.

I'll keep saying . It'll some time around mid to late November I'm expecting something after Halloween has passed . and November fits cause close enough to Christmas and they will have also mention some of the line up of lauch title's and game they skipped for it's predecessor for the NX system it's self.

I'm curious how big the NX is going to be? I'm not all that interested in the portable aspects, but I do want a device I can keep next to my desk in a fairly non-cluttered way. I have a small TV next to my iMac that I'd like to hook the console portion up to. The Wii U just took up too much space to ever do that. I'm hoping the NX is a sleek compact package.
