Neither 2D or 3D is inherently superior to the other, they're just different styles with their own merits and drawbacks.

As far as the Zelda series is concerned, I don't really have a preference. I like both.

To me it's like choosing between a hamburger, and prime rib. I like both. But one will always be superior. You can just do so much more with 3D. Personal preference I suppose.

At least with this franchise. Others... not so much. Some just never made the transition to 3D successfully.

GAWD I want the new Zelda WiiU game out now! :cmad:

WWHD will be great, but I need me a new one and it better be good. I liked Skyward Sword and appreciate the effort behind it, but I just didn't love it as much as I would have liked.

I would of liked SS better without those frustrating motion controls, I'm glad WW has that controller option and hope the new Zelda game will as well.

I never had a problem with the motion controls, and I loved how they used them. It added a depth to the game beyond mashing the attack button whenever you needed to attack.

SS had more problems then just the motion controls, I just felt overall it was one of the weaker of the Zelda games. Still a good game, but just not as of intriguing as a world. Still OOT and ALTTP are my two favorites. I really am crossing fingers for a good one soon.

I HATED the motion controls in SS. I swear half the time it never properly registered that my swing was vertical or horizontal.

No Twilight Princess love? I'll admit it was a cop out have Ganondorf be the Big Bad yet again and Zant merely a pawn, but I liked it for the most part.

Twilight's some good stuff. I didn't have a problem with Zant's role at all. Good antagonist.

How is it a cop-out? Ganondorf is the Joker to Link's Batman. Not to mention the boss fight was the best since Wind Waker.

Just because a character has an arch-enemy doesn't mean they have to go at in every single new story.

I felt Ganondorf was rather underdeveloped in Twilight Princess, a real step back from his Wind Waker appearance. He looked great though.

I think Nintendo was perhaps reluctant to do a big game without him. I wouldn't say he was shoehorned in, but you do get the sense that the story could have worked just fine with Zant.

Yeah, plus I didn't like that Zant was just really deranged in the end. I like my villains somewhat crazy on a cold, calculated level thank you. :D

I also didn't like the redundancy of The Imprisoned in SS, but I don't want to open that can of worms since I understand the idea behind it was fighting a boss that you would fight several more times with a few modifications. It worked for probably the first rematch, but the second one it didn't feel that challenging.

I still wouldn't call it a cop out. Now Demise basically saying he'd be reincarnated as Ganondorf was kinda dumb.

I found that rather emasculated Ganondorf, really.

Plus doesn't he get his more extreme powers from the Triforce of Power? Not that being king of a warrior race isn't a decent enough position. It just seems unnecessary, given the character's existing backstory.

It's as if Nintendo is afraid to not have Ganondorf or a villain like him in these games. They need to take more risks. Look at Majora's Mask. That was completely out there. And it was ****ing awesome.

It's like Spidey-Bat said they're just using Link's arch-nemesis because well he IS the arch-nemesis. Now I too would love them to finally not use Ganon every other game and then come back to him if needed be, but Nintendo knows that Ganon is to Zelda that Bowser is to Mario, they've pretty much have become the standard villains for their respective protagonists and the risk of using someone new could hurt potential buyers, fans of the older games who have grown accustomed to Ganon's presence. I also liked Onyx from OoS.

Well, I'm a potential buyer and a (very big) fan of the older games, and I would love it if they actually tried new things with the series* including using new villains.

I've said it before, but I would totally thrilled if Nintendo ever got as creative and experimental with Zelda as they are with Mario. For some reason they put Zelda on a pedestal and they're totally unwilling to do anything with it except try to remake Ocarina of Time every few years.

*Link Between Worlds notwithstanding.

Well I would love them to try some radical ideas with the games. Tweak the mechanics and the settings of the game. Wind Waker did something very interesting by having Hyrule submerged underwater, and would like to see something like that again in the series. I wouldn't mind a Hyrule that is more advanced and has taken on more modern inventions like mass production of goods and materials or electricity, and less reliant on magic and the belief of the goddesses subsided to near myth.

Apparently Miyamoto actually wanted to do a game set in the future, where Link had a gun (of some sort), but everyone else talked him out of it.

Course, how far in the future, and what kind of gun he had in mind, we don't really know. Could be Hyrule a few centuries later with flintlocks for all we know. Which personally I would be all for.

I want a game where you play as Zelda/Shiek. Wouldn't that be coooool? Something set in the Twilight Princess era. You start as Zelda in the castle (like Link in a farm/town/whatever). Then she has a quest to fulfill and you can turn from Zelda to Sheik.
Link can have the Zelda role essentially. Sigh what I'd give for that!

So, there was news about a Zelda game for Wii U in today's Nintendo Direct, but not the kind you probably expect.

This Spring will see the release of...wait for it....A game tentatively called Hyrule Warriors, created by Tecmo Koei, in the style of the Dynasty Warriors franchise.

I'm serious.

Here's a taste:

I didn't see the trailer. I'm not particularly a fan of the DW franchise. They can be fun for awhile, but I always thought they got old fast.
