I love The Adventure of Link, but it feels so much like it's own thing, I hardly count it with the other Zelda title.

True. I was hesitant of putting it up there. It really is something completely different.

My list is close to yours, but Majora's Mask is my favorite.

Really? Interesting. I love MM, but OOT is just on another level for me.

I feel bad for never finishing Majora's Mask. Maybe after I play the 3DS OoT, I'll pick up my 64 and go through it.

I would say OoT is the "best" though. Majora's Mask is a rather... unusual Zelda game.

I would buy a Wii U today if they made a remake for it.

Majora's Mask was such a mind****, because really, it's more or less the only Zelda (at least the only one I played) that deviates from the formula. I mean, the character may change or the kingdom, but it's always Link as the hero vs some giant evil that threatens a kingdom.

Well, I guess MM wasn't that different in that regard, but the execution of it was so wildly different, it blew my mind back then. I'd love for a 3DS remake to happen.

Which titles have you played?

I have played everything except Phantom Hourglass. Been meaning to pick that up.

I've played them all outside Minish Cap, the two DS games, and the newest one. I don't remember if I finished Twilight Princess, though.

I think Majora's Mask is so memorable because it's so different, not just from Zelda, but any game. The idea that you have three days to save the world because a Mask is going to make the moon crash is already such a wonderfully crazy premise. Throw in time travel and it becomes even better.

The masks were a great gimmick, that they really thought out and executed amazingly.

Cool environments, memorable characters, awesome dungeon designs and the game engine of the best game made up until that point. There was just no going wrong.

It's one of the few games I can give a 10 out of 10 without an asterisk.

Ah. Well, I would recommend Spirit Tracks. Not great or anything by Zelda standards, but definitely a game worth having for the DS. It does have this annoying... mechanic where you have to blow into your DS' mic... I really wish they would have left that out.

Twilight Princess has an okay ending, so I think you would probably remember. Ganondorf has a pretty awesome redesign, if nothing else.

I was thinking the same thing. It's obviously not a young Ganondorf, but maybe Link works for him at the beginning.

The motif is used by several Gerudo (Nabooru, Twinrova, and the Iron Knuckle armors), so perhaps Link has some sort of affiliation with them.

We've had a Link raised by forest sprites, so why not Gerudo?

I'm crossing my fingers so hard it hurts for a Majora's Mask remake announcement tomorrow. The 3DS was really underrepresented today.

Majora's Mask is still my favorite Zelda game for the reasons listed above. Its just so unique and crazy, I love it.

so.....are they just messing with us or could there really be something there........

"No one explicitly said that that was Link."

hmmmm.........

I know that my first reaction upon seeing the trailer was that it was a girl or young Zelda herself.

could it be??

if it's not "Link" or Zelda, maybe it's their kid?

it certainly would be a welcome change..........but would it be too radical a change?

That May Not Have Been Link In The Legend of Zelda Wii U Trailer. June 10, 2014 . 6:38pm

The Legend of Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma is breaking out the teases again.

This morning, Nintendo showed off a teaser trailer for their new Legend of Zelda game on Wii U, highlighting the game’s open-world. In the trailer, a character that looked similar to Link was seen riding atop a horse and doing battle.

Speaking with Venturebeat at E3, Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma stated: “No one explicitly said that that was Link.”

Aonuma did not go into specifics or share any other details, although in the past, he has stated his desire to shake up the conventions of the Zelda franchise.

The Legend of Zelda is currently in development and planned for a 2015 release.

I've wanted Zelda to be a playable main character for the longest time, but I actually hope this was Link in the trailer. There's just something I find awesome about Link having a little ponytail. That being said, I definitely wouldn't complain if it was Zelda. I've never seen Link cloaked like that before (whereas we've seen Zelda cloaked before) and the hair style does seem like a shorter and messier version of Zelda's hair in SS and TP.

No, Link? No me buying!

It'd be like replacing Batman with Robin.
Spider-Man with Doc Ock.
King Kong with Mighty Joe Young.
Godzilla with Barney!!!

And I'm praying there is a Majora's Mask remake. I was never able to play the game when I got the GG. The port would keep crashing and it was unplayable. Then I found out that one on the Wii store, might suffer the same problems, so I've been forever hesitant to buy it.

I'm intrigued by a female link. I mean, why is he always a boy?

I just want this so bad. I hope the zora appear. I'm just so keen

Well I'm not sure of that character's sex, but I certainly don't mind if it's Link's offspring.

Perhaps it's Zelda. And Hyrule is ruled by Prince Link.

Link's been our hero for close to 30 years now. His very name and reason of existence was to make the player feel as though this was them. You could rename of him, of course. But he was OUR LINK to the fantasy world of Hyrule. We've been him and he's been us, for nearly 30 years. To get rid of him, would undoubtedly be a little sad. He's the Hero of Hyrule, the reincarnation of the Goddess' hero. There would have to be a very good explanation as to why he's no longer the playable character.

I'll live with the change, but I'll admittedly be a little gutted.
