By look alone I don't think it looks female at all.

That is clearly Link, and clearly a male.

As Benstamania has pointed out, the recent art styles have given Link a more boyish, even feminine look.

If someone wants to play as Zelda.. Fine. I'm gonna hope like heck it's not tho. If it is I doubt the story is that compelling.. It'll simply be Link is captured now or something.. Your turn to save him.

Meh.
The Legend of Zelda is Link's story. That is the way I like it and any change would feel like a gimmick imo.

^ yeah. but that young Link still looks more masculine to me than the new Link.

well, I think we should all assume it's Link unless they say officially say otherwise.

That would be the art style, which looks like a combination of Skyward Sword and Wind Waker. Also, I love it. Might be my favorite look for a Zelda game yet. That is the kind of art style that ages like fine wine.

On that note. Has anyone heard any crying about the new footage not looking like the concept demo from last year? :D

You're pretty much saying it better than me. Sure the games called Legend of Zelda but it's always been Link's story. Honestly.. When LoZ 1 came out in NES do you think Nintendo knew it would get this big? I mean little kid me didn't even name my first Link.. Link.. I named him Ben. In a game where you can name the character whatever you want I can understand why the game was never called The Legend of Link.

Pretty much. These guys have a habit of trolling.. Look how Myimoto was obviously playing Stat Fox but he had the screen blurred. Nintendo is a bunch of trolls that LOVE fan speculation. Reggie himself said yesterday he loves reading fan speculation and feedback..so..

Yes.. *sigh*

I agree about the graphics. 20 years from now this game will still look nice. I'm glad Wind Waker got the HD treatment but even the original GameCube game still looks nice. It aged well. Call of Duty on the other hand? Not so much..

Yep, pretty much. I usually name my Link William or Billy, though my Skyward Sword Link was named Jon Snow. :D

Heck I wonder how many actually know the actual "the legend of Zelda". Nintendo pretty much discarded it a long time again.

I guess it can't be helped. Still, disappointing. :(

And Wind Waker was exactly what I was thinking about. The original version still looks great, and probably always will. Twilight Princess on the other hadn has looked dated for half a decade already.

Link has always looked vaguely feminine to me. Even in the early games with the artwork. Weird that all of sudden people are starting to see this and assuming stuff. It's like the whole over sexualization criticism that MGSV recently received for the Quiet. It's like no one had previously played a MGS game or something.

Revisionist gaming history. People claim now that Raiden was always awesome. It happens a lot with games.

Uh, Raiden always was awesome. People just hated him more in the past than they do now, mainly just because he wasn't Snake (and that's the number 1 reason, no matter what anyone tries to say).

I always hated Raiden.. Mostly because he looked like some *****e bag Japanese anime character. I still hate Raiden cyborg or not. People hated him then but love him now and act like they always loved him. I'm not saying he didn't have his fans but a lot of his fans now only like him because he's a poor mans Robocop.

Whatever, I liked him from the beginning. I don't think it matters much anyway. You can grow to like a character even if you didn't like them at first for unfair reasons.

But yeah, **** cyborg Raiden.

I'm simply saying revisionist history happens in everything. I'm cool if you hated Raide originally but grew to enjoy the character.. At least say originally you didn't like him.. No need to pretend you've loved the character from day one. I'm not saying you.. As in you.. Just a statement.

A perfect example is Wind Waker.. I said from the moment I played that game that it was in my too 3 Zelda games.. But I remember how EVERYONE hated it (obviously not everyone.. The vocal ones) but now those same people act like they always loved it and how it's the greatest Zelda. I just want to rewind time and point out everyone that trashed the game.

I don't care that much. As much as the love comes eventually, I'm good. I can relish in the fact that I was there first to myself

I think it's just mind****ery crap to be honest. I mean, really, this is preoabbly the closest we're ever going to get to a female Link:

Meh.

So "Link's captured or something. Zelda saves him." isn't compelling and registers a big meh. But "Zelda's captured or something. Link saves her." is too perfect to try anything else after 30 years?

And even though it's Link's series... Most of them aren't even the same Link as the one before.

Aonuma said the subject of change to the Zelda series has been discussed with creator Shigeru Miyamoto, who is now in charge of Nintendo's internal development. That sort of change goes beyond the pattern in which dungeons are tackled -- it could also extend to the roles characters like Link and Zelda have.

"Something that is 'traditional' is in a sense often something that copies previous works, so if you continue doing that, it gradually takes away from its uniqueness," Aonuma stated. "So we're currently working on making those parts more and more unique."

"So, by no means, am I tired of it," Aonuma added. "Rather, the more we change it, the more I get fired up. Having someone think 'Huh? Is this Zelda?!' at first, then 'Oh, it is Zelda,' is what we're going for. Something that wouldn't make it matter whether Link or Princess Zelda appear in it or not. Something where it wouldn't even matter if Zelda is actually a princess, or not."

Trolling or a pattern? Clearly he's having fun with it.

the boy hero will be named Zelda and the princess we have to rescue will be named Link!!

the horse we ride will be named Gannon and the big bad we fight will be named Epona!!

:o

I'd have no issue with some game where you play as Zelda, but I really don't think this game is it. It seems pretty clear that figure is Link to me.

Now, I will say, I could say them having Zelda be more active in the story. Something where Link is just sort of the viewer to the larger picture of how Zelda becomes a legend or something like that. Sort of like giving a feeling that you're playing a secondary character and not the main. It could work.

^ I'd be fine with that, too.

it IS called Legend of Zelda, after all.

I really like the art style in the video. Jackass teenage boys and their WHy ISn'T IT DARK ANd gRITTy can go someplace else.
