Kobe for Gordon, Deng, and the no. 9? Is that the most likely deal?
Simmons had some scenario where that works with a throw-in player like Khryapa or Sefolosha and renouncing PJ Brown's rights. I'd say it's most likely (from the 3 teams heavily mentioned) because the Suns and Knicks just don't make sense. I'm struggling to see that happen though. Chicago would have the same problem they have now; no inside presence. It'd just switching two good perimeter players for an elite one. Seems like Paxson would rather wait and try to fleece somebody for Gasol, Garnett or J. O'Neal (for probably less than it would take to get Mamba) and addressing a problem area.

Of course, I'm waiting for this damn baby to change his mind tomorrow.

I think Wallace would have to be involved, to match the salary up. Gordon is one dimensional and 5-6 inches too short, but Deng is a genuinely good player and will probably get better. Still, if thats the trade, I would take it no questions asked.

I'd hang up on Paxson if he threw Wallace's name in there. Who wants to be on the hook for 44M over the next three years to a 32 year old center, who areas of primary contribution (rebounds and blocks) have declined in each of the last 4 seasons? On top of that, they'd have to worry about resigning Deng and Gordon, both of whom have qualifying offer/free agency concerns coming up after next season. The Lakers are over the cap now. They'd likely be saying goodbye to one or both of those guys before Wallace's albatross of a contract comes off the books or paying luxury tax out the ying-yang.

I hope the Cavs make some improvements, get to the finals and win it this time!

Kobe on the Suns should be, like, illegal. Would they lose a game?
Also, seeing Kobe and Raja Bell on the same team would be fantastic. DRAMA!

So, who's gonna prove us wrong next year?

:gl::cmad:

They better hope that someone's stupid enough to take Larry Hughes off their hands. They won't be able to get markedly better without moving his HUGE contract. Maybe they'll pull the trigger on a Gooden trade, but I don't know how much that'd improve them. Can you imagine their awful front line? Varejao isn't a 30-minutes-a-night guy, and Big Z isn't getting any younger.

Thank god you aren't the Gen. Manager. Mark my words Bulls get Kobe. You will regret them getting Kobe. He is a whiny ball hogging little B**ch! The Bulls are one good center away from contending. The Bulls don't need Kobe, & they shouldn't want him. Gasol, J. O'Neal, or Garnett. These are the players that Paxson should be focusing on.

I agree with Rekal. Bench his a** for 2 years straight. Then let him walk.

Haha, these guys on this Magic message board I read are delusional. They think Jameer Nelson is a starter on more than half the teams in the league. :down

Hughes has done nothing but be injured for us. I hope he does get moved.

Lateral movement:
Hughes to the Lakers for Vladimir Radmanovic.

Well then there shouldn't be any talks at all about it. As far as I know, for there to be a trade with a contract like Kobe's, Wallace would have to be a definite part of the trade if he were to go to the Bulls.

And Carnage, if you trust Skiles, then Kobe's attitude won't be a problem, if you don't by now, you should be calling for a new head coach. I'm sorry but Gordon is not the guy, he just isn't. Not for this team. He has to go. I cannot stress this enough, they cannot just go on with the way the Bulls are and expect to win titles. They aren't the Pistons. If the Bulls can get a player like Randolph, Garnett, then maybe. But who do you think they will have to give up to do that? Duhon, Sweetney? Hell no. Its going to be Gordon, Deng, Thomas, etc. One or more of the younger players anyways. I have no idea of their chances of getting Garnett, but since I haven't heard anything, or really read anything about it, I have to assume he is staying with the T'Wolves. Same with O'Neal and Gasol. All indications are that right now the best player in the league has a chance to play with the Bulls, and you either gotta pull the trigger or stay with what you have, and what they have is not good enough. You should know that by now.

Bill Simmons highlighted how Chicago could get it done with Deng, Gordon, Khryapa and the #9 pick, even though the listed numbers are about 8M off. Some nuance regarding renouncing a player's rights.
Additional notes: This deal works as long as the Bulls renounce P.J. Brown's rights; also, it means the Lakers would receive a mammoth (and appealing) trade exception in the deal.

Comments: This seems like the most natural home for Kobe -- it's a big city; they're a contender in the East; there's enough talent left after the deal to make a run, and even the MJ-Kobe symmetry works nicely -- as well as the best possible haul for the Lakers. The deal could work in a variety of ways: Instead of renouncing Brown's rights, the Bulls could include Andres Nocioni as a sign-and-trade (starting at around $5 million per) and renounce Mike Sweetney's rights instead of Brown's. If they wanted to get even more creative, they could make it Deng, Gordon, P.J. Brown (sign and trade -- one year, $10 million) and the No. 9 for Kobe. They could try to substitute Ty Thomas and a future No. 1 for Deng. Etc., etc., etc.

Well then that works for me. He basically is saying exactly the same thing I am. If they sub in Thomas for Deng, thats great as well. Its just all about winning when it comes down to it and what players give you the greatest chance of winning. Every move Paxson makes at this point with the kind of team he has now is "Will this help us win a title next season?" Not a year or two down the road. Right now. This season. This is where their window is. They get Bryant, they are in the Finals.

i like the second part of your post J :woot: gets me all giddy...

we will have a TEAM!

do it mitch!!!!!!!!!!!

Let kobe BURN!... you know J if Kobe goes East i become a Heat fan!:wow: :woot:

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! I do not want Kobe on the f-ing Bulls! It is a step back. Not a step forward. This team the way it is now is so close to being a team that could contend for seasons to come.

Throw Kobe in there you blow up the Chemistry! Goddamnit! Why can't some of you see that! Just get a good f-ing middle man, & let Kobe burn in hell!

Sadly all this talk is futile. I have know deep down for a long time Kobe was going to end up in Chicago. He wants to be Jordan so bad he can taste it. If he ends up on the Bulls it will be like the end of Single White Female. Except the crazy chick wins! God I do not want to read the news that he has been traded to the Bulls. Please god, NOOOO!!!!!!!!

Somebody stop this madness!!!

i know you playing.. listen Kobe is a REMARKABLE player .. arguably the best today.. but he doesnt have the court vision of a nash... the selflessness of a lebron or the humility of a wade.... Kobe is amazing... but somethings wrong with his noggin.... you will get highlights galore in ChiTown but a ship?? like you said yuo may be taking a step back.. Detroit and San Antonio prove you need a TEAM to win nowadays...

If the Kobe Trade goes through it'll most likely be Kobe to the Bulls, Gordon, Deng, and Tyrus thomas to the Celtics and Paul Pierce and the Bulls #9 in the first to the Lakers.

You must be a Celtics fan because...

[Bill Walton] That's a HORRRRIBBLLLLE trade. Oh, the humanity. [/Bill Walton]

The Lakers wouldn't ship Mamba to Boston if the Celtics offered Pierce and the #5 pick straight up. There's no way they go for #9.
