Surprise that there have been no new posts today, when we have the NBA Finals game 1 starting tonight. Can't wait for this series to begin, and I wish Lakers the best.

I posted! :cmad: I think now that Bos will win in 6 games.

Thing is, a week ago, I wouldn't have given BC a chance but the more I think about it and listen as the media completely dismisses BC and how it's Kobe's time........I just think BC will use that to their advantage. Plus this is the same Lakers team that BC beat twice except you trade Gasol for Bynum, in which Bynum is much more athletic than Gasol so I just think BC really has the advantage. Not to mention they seemed to have gotten out of the funk they were in the beginning of the playoffs by beating Detroit twice IN Detroit.

If you had a chance to get Bynum(when healthy) or Gasol now, who would pick?

I really like Byrum, but this year was his first breakout year, and Gasol has more experience and seemed to be better shooter and more comfortable in the triangle than Byrum has been. Byrum is a true center in that he's great in the low post for rebounds and high percentage shots, and if he were available in this series Lakers would have the perfect guy to defend Garnett.

Bynum's athleticism doesn't mean diddly in this series. Yeah, he's more athletic than Gasol, but Gasol's a better passer and runs the triangle as well as any of Phil Jackson's other bigs ever have.

Another point: Jackson is one of six NBA coaches to win championships in the last 20 years (Larry Brown, Gregg Popovich, Pat Riley, Chuck Daly, and Rudy Tomjanovich are the others). Anyone picking the Celtics essentially believes that Doc Rivers can outcoach Jackson.

Yeah, uh, that's not something on which I'd bet.

That's a bit of a broad stroke don't you think? Maybe Phils' time is past....

Pau has to have a big series. Perkins will likely guard him. He should use his length on him for easy buckets.

What I mean is with all the plus's of Pau, Bynum makes up for them in other ways. They can kind of even each other out. I still say Boston beating Detroit in their home twice has done wonders for this team. But we'll see tonight. Game 1 will be a tell-tale game.

A big part of winning as a coach involves what players you are coaching. Jackson had Jordan and Pipen and a very deep team when he was winning in Chicago and he had Kobe and Shaq and another deep team when he was winning in LA. He's had the same coaching style and philosophy since shaq left but it hasn't produced any results. Rivers had never had a comparible team before to have his coaching style judged by. This year he does and he's led them to the best record in the NBA and to the finals.

Coaching is only a part of winning anyway. The Celtics have the advantage in most of the match ups agasinst LA. If they play their best defense consistantly in each game they'll win.

Boston has these stupid t-shirts that says " gotta beat LA", Stephan A. was like wtf? it should just be Beat LA

LETS DO IT, LAKERS.

lmao nice

They're going to have a split screen commercial of Magic and Bird

The split screen crap has gotten old way quicker than it should have. :whatever:

This is it. This is for all the marbles and is the big ratings game for the NBA and $tern.

Here's hoping the series is called down the middle and both teams are allowed to play without interference from the zebras.

Not to sound like a total DBag, but they should NOT be showing WNBA commercials during the Finals....

Looks like the officials are already trying to screw over the Celtics with total bogus calls. Seeing as how Fisher missed both free throws its safe to say that he wasn't fouled at all.
