hey at least the pirates will tie a record with that losing season...

I was looking through some articles on Yahoo and found this:
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_y...lug=ap-worldseries-notebook&prov=ap&type=lgns

No ball flap this time. When Jonathan Papelbon struck out Seth Smith to end the World Series, catcher Jason Varitek tucked the ball in his back pocket. I'll give it back to the team," the Red Sox captain said. "Maybe we won't have a controversy this time."

Obviously a knock on Mientkiewicz (and deservingly so), but it seems he's the culprit of the mystery of the missing ball.

Didn't the Winter Meetings start this Friday in, Orlando, Florida.?

I believe the GM meetings start tomorrow.

November 5th-8th: GM Meetings in Orlando.

This is not the Winter Meetings. That is December 3rd-6th in Nashville.

BTW, when do they announce the regular-season awards (Cy Young, MVP, ROTY, etc.)?

That is ridiculous regarding the awards...

It is too long. Way too long.

Let's pass the time by posting predictions:

American League

Cy Young: Josh Beckett
MVP: A-Rod
Rookie of the Year: Dustin Pedroia

National League

Cy Young: Jake Peavy
MVP: Matt Holliday
Rookie of the Year: Troy Tulowitzki

Wow, the NL west does have a good chance to hold all of the hardware. Weak division? not anymore.

It's weak hitting wise. It has very good pitching though. Central is the opposite. East has a good balance of both.

Proctor is not a bad pitcher. He just couldn't handle the pressure of playing in New York.

The numbers improved for him in LA. Although, I think it has to do with differing park factors, and overall better hitters in the AL East as opposed to the NL West. Going from facing David Oritz to Eric Byrnes is a big difference.

That's very true. Most of the teams in the NL West revolve around pitching than hitting. The Rockies won a lot of their games because they scored runs. The Giants, Padres and D-Backs don't hit a lot, but focus on pitching to win games. That's why Proctor has done a little better.

Still, Proctor, Beimel, and Saito should expect lots of work next year.
We have Brox too :oldrazz:

if our rotation doesnt get injured like last year... he wont have to use our pen as much ... and i'd rather him pull out pitchers early then leave them in TOO long like grittles did :cmad:

What a press conference! :D

Vin Scully brought out his A game. I swear, the man is a living legend. I loved how he joked with tommy Lasorda. It was great seeing those two goof around.

I always heard how classy Joe can be. I saw this when I saw the press conference. I went from doubting to loving the guy! He's charming, funny, and hearing him speak, I saw how he has that leadership aura about him. I really do feel like he will bring Pride and Honer back to the Dodgers.

Don Mattingly and Larry Bowa are coming. Don has a son in the Dodger farm system. I hope, Joe can convince Zimmer to come. He was a great Dodger back in the day. Come on Don, bleed dodger blue again!
