Some NL rumors I've been hearing.

• Matt Clement and the Padres are in talks for a one year deal and incentives
• If the Marlins trade away Miguel Cabrera to the Angles they would possibly get 4 players back, but the Angles may want Dan Uggla or Dontrelle Willis also in the deal.
• All the Braves would have to do is offer Tom Glavine 1 year for $8 million and he should accpet.
• Mets are looking at Dan Haren.

Yeah, The Marlins want Howie Kendrick, Nick Adenhart, another pitcher, and an outfielder from the Angles. It's a big deal for one player, but I think it's fair enough.

I heard the deal could start with John Maine and could include Lastings Milledge and/or Aaron Heilman.

I doubt Maine would be dealt since they can't spare any of their current starters. If that's what it was going to take to get Haren I would just send that deal to Tampa Bay for Kazmir. Though replace Milledge with a pitcher (probably Philip Humber).

I have this feeling in the pit of my stomach that the Mets' owners are really going to ***k this team's chances of winning multiple WS by being too cheap.

I still think it's just talk and leverage for the Angels and Dodgers to raise their offers. I have no respect for A-Rod or the Yankees. A-Rod shouldn't have gone begging and the Yankees should have just said "**** You" when he opted out.

What else has everyone been hearing about the negotiations? I heard that A-Rod went to the Yankees without Boras and talked to the Yanks. Then I heard that Boras was deeply involved with the negotiations.

Boras bit off more than he could chew it seems, which makes sense cause A-Rod is coming off his best(?) season yet. I don't have any issue with him as an agent since it's his job to find the best deal for his clients, and he does it better than most. Look at what he did with Tom Hicks, convincing him to sign A-Rod to that deal in '01, putting the organization in financial hell cause there was no money left, and ended up paying A-Rod not to play in Texas. That right there is one hell of a deal if you're A-Rod and Boras. I think organizations (except for Brian Sabean, I assume Zito was a Boras client?) have learned from that and not wanting to give in to Boras so easily now.

um bulls***. i'll just say that if the angels even consider sending kendrick, adenhart, and 2 other players for just cabrera, then their new gm is an idiot. kendrick has the potential to be just as good a hitter as cabrera by himself. and he won't eat himself into a dh role in 2 years. god i hope they don't seriously look at that deal....

Apparently the teams involved are Angels, Braves, Cardinals, and Yankees, although it was also reported the Cardinals are not involved.

Multiple world series??? This is the epitomy of being a Met fan... just like Jet fans... they seem to think they are entitled to championships every few years or so. Can we at least get there first before we talk about being in the Yankees/Sox class?

Now back to the problems at hand... the team needs starting pitching... it also needs bullpen help as well... I haven't really looked at the market but it seems every year that the free agents available in the bullpen are all bums... or you strike gold with a guy for a year or two before he turns into a bum. Beside the bullpen though... the team needs a lock down starter... so you deal a Pelfre Milledge combo for a starter of that class... don't get too down if they trade Milledge... the guy will probably amount to nothing... let the kid go if you can bring in an ace.

I'm tellin ya, Theo and Co. need to just sack up, give him 3 years gurantteed with a club option for a 4th, and Lowell would be back in a Sawx uni AND give them a hometown discount in a heartbeat. At least from what I've read.
