Marlins make a move. Redsox trade OF Mike Cameron and cash to Marlins for player to be named later or cash. Bye bye OF DeWayne Wise?

I'm scared to get excited, but the Pirates are 4 games over.

My Dan Haren rationale works yet again, go Halos.

Oh, and go D-Backs, they're still in contention:up:

The Baseball gods are angry at the Lack of McCutchen in the ASG, sending a wall of unspeakable terror throughout the Phoenix area.

There was a good bench clearing brawl in Boston tonight. Bottom 8th, 2 out, Red Sox up 10-3. Ortiz was batting, Kevin Gregg pitching. Gregg threw a ball tight inside belt-high on Ortiz and he kinda glared. He threw 2 more pitches close and Ortiz went to confront him. No fight, but the benches cleared, HP ump warned both teams.

Next pitch, Ortiz hits a flyball to CF. As he jogs to 1B, Gregg approaches him and must have said "Go walk to first base" (probably had some swears in there, too). The ump ejected him, then Ortiz goes after him and the benches clear again.

The umps have been awful lately in making right calls, but it's how confrontational they are that really annoys me because they're trying to make themselves bigger than the game. I thought the incident before the fight was the time to get in the manager/players faces and tell them to knock it off. I also think MLB needs to tell the players in the bullpens to not exit during a bench-clearing fight. The last thing you need in that situation is a bunch of guys running into the field, getting in the middle, trying to figure out what happened or throw punches.

KINGFISH

Explain to me the mystery of Hank Conger. What kind of name is that to begin with and how is he Asian?

Jeter is clearly up to something, just got hit 3K on a homer.

Derek Jeter has just hit his 3000th hit.....with a home run against the Tampa Bay Rays in the 3rd inning. He is now one of only 28 players in the history of Major League Baseball to get 3000 hits in their career, one of only five to do it in 17 seasons or less....the only New York Yankee to reach 3000 hits, and the only player aside from Wade Boggs to get it on a home run.

Really awesome moment...I know a co-worker/friend who has a friday package had been dying to see this all year...How lucky that he got the chance to see it after a rain out yesterday

Jeter's been my favourite player since his cut-off throw in the ALCS against Oakland.

11th player to get 3,000 hits with one team.

I stress regular season hits, he only has what, a million playoff hits? I guess they don't count here.

Between his DL stint, the media hype, and some people in the media ripping him, it's hard for me to muster up much enthusiasm for it.

Congrats to him though.
