Just got 3001. He's 3 for 3 so far today.

edit: #3002...he's 4 for 4 today.

They just had the guy who caught Jeter's HR ball in the Booth and it was really nice to see that even though he didn't ask for anything in return, the Yankees gave his 4 Suite tickets to every game including to the Playoffs.

He should still come to AZ next week, seems like a cop-out not to take 1 at bat and leave the game.

He's just recently coming off an injury, so some more rest may be more important right now.

Aaaannnnd #3003....5 for 5 now....with the last one being a go-ahead (edit: game-winning) RBI in the bottom of the eighth.

Pretty good day so far.

You don't have to give us a hit-counter for another 990.

If hes as classy as hes portrayed to be, then he will show up.

Mariano Rivera is also voted to the All-Star team, and he's not going because he wants to rest his elbow...and he closed out the game today. Does that make him any less classy?

I personally don't have too much of a problem with A-Rod and Jeter deciding to sit out of the ASG since at this point in their careers, as much as the fans want to see them, they've both been showing up for the past 12+ years. Not only can their bodies use the rest, but it also allows someone else a chance to shine.

I understand that its done more for the fans, but at the same time there are plenty of snubs each year and other players that really deserve to be called All-Star but usually don't get the chance because they're not as popular as the bigger names.

Agreed, and honestly...Jeter didn't exactly have a great first half of the season, either. So from a stats/performance standpoint, there are some players who deserve that spot more than he does. But it's also a fan-appreciation event, so it's understandable that some may feel disappointed not to see the more popular players.

Rivera did not just achieve a rare accomplishment, and everyone knew he wasn't coming. Jeter at the last second said he wasn't going, I don't particularly care for that, especially since people love to **** all over AZ based on non-baseball issues. He should be at the ASG.

Yeah, that's what I mean. As much of an A-Rod and Jeter fan that I am, from a stats point of view, weren't exactly at their best, especially compared to years past. But it seems like they get voted on to start just because of their names and not their stats. But of course, that usually ends up happening in all sports. Baseball is only different in that the ASG is supposed to have actually meaning.

Rivera's career accomplishments are rarer than just about anyone's. And again, it's more about Jeter's recent injury. Yeah, he came back and is playing, but if there's an opportunity to take a break and not miss season games, the team's season is ultimately more important. It's not just the actual all-star game and one or two at-bats, it's also the traveling and all the appearances leading up to the game. If he still needs the rest, especially at age 37, he's earned that.

The same would go for wherever the All-star game was being held...he doesn't have to make-up for whatever Arizona's PR issues are...that's AZ's cross to bear, not his, not Baseball's, or anyone else's. No-one's in any place to question his morals/class when it comes to this. He's doing what's most important for his team right now.

KINGFISH

Explain to me the mystery of Hank Conger. What kind of name is that to begin with and how is he Asian?

The mystery of a kid with Korean parents from Huntington Beach? It's a puzzler alright (his family name is Hyun Choi).

for the way the media hyped him, I thought he had passed Pete Rose for all time hits.

Congrats to him I guess. Now hopefully he just goes away.

It's puzzling that anyone, let alone an Asian person would be named Hank these days.
