Wow. Zambrano. I knew he was the most disgusting man in baseball but I didn't know he was such a *****.

Cubs would be better off with him not showing up ever again.

Let me ask you a question. Is it the fault of the player for not living up to impossible pressure, or fault of the high expectations by fans/media/ownerswhogavehimthecontractinthefirstplace? Beltran has been a great player during his career, just because the Mets didn't win '06 doesn't mean he was bad:huh: There are more issues on that team that transpired over the last several years, and his various injury issues were only a small part of it.

its mostly that....he couldn't stay healthy and hasn't played a full season since 2008 I think? and still got paid mad loot

and standing on home plate like a ****ing mook to end the playoffs in 2006 didnt help either....swing the bat, ya ****ing hoser!!!

I was watching the game last night, saw his thug ass get tossed..now today I'm reading about his whining to retire. I don't see how the Cubs can put up with anymore of his crap.

True also, everytime I see Beltran I keep replaying that scene in my mind.

Just swing Beltran, just swing. :cmad:

I don't want to feel like I'm piling on, he is a Mets fan after all. And my team did just beat his last night.
Mets season has been over for a few weeks now, so those/rest of the games for the Mets mean nothing. Right now the current Mets roster is auditioning for 2012.

BTW, I'm a hard core Mets fan as well.

What difference would swinging have made if he missed?

He was in an 0-2 count and it was a curveball. Odds are more likely it would have been low for a ball since most pitchers try to get you to chase. Beltran is a high ball hitter, most at-bats where he hits it well are about letter-high.

What would have helped is if Willy Randolph hadn't wasted a 1st and 2nd, no outs at-bat with Cliff Floyd and his one ankle.

As far as injuries go, I don't think Beltran was nearly as bad as Griffey, who had 3 straight seasons with less than 100 games played, and 6 seasons without playing more than 130 games after going to Cincinnati. He pretty much lost the second half of his career due to injuries, which is a real shame because even in those injury-plagued seasons, he still put up good numbers in the games that he played.

Wow. Oakland's fielding is a joke. I haven't seen defense this bad since double AA Frisco.

Yes, but unlike the Mets, the Rangers went to the World Series and are currently leading the AL West. Of course around here that's still not enough to talk about them.

But don't let me interrupt... please... more Mets talk.

This is the MLB thread, not the "Let's talk about contending teams" thread. Don't like it? Then don't participate in the discussion. Besides, we were talking about Beltran, not the Mets.

Oh I don't like it. That's why I haven't posted more than 4 times since the season started. Don't worry, I won't show up much. Maybe someday I'll be cool enough to discuss baseball with the rest of you.

feels like ********. A lot of Mets fans post here, deal with it.

sorry we don't blow the Rangers for 162 games.....don't you have boards for that elsewhere?

at least the Braves fans keep to their own

They have a good outfield according to Baseball Tonight. And I must admit, Melky Cabrera has surprised me enough that I have him on both of my fantasy teams.

I think the new car smell on the Rangers has worn off. Now they're just...THAT team.

So warm and inviting here. Technically I was talking about Oakland and before that, the Cubs.

But no need to pile on. I'll get out of your private party. Enjoy the rest of the season.

You're the one who started complaining that we were talking about a non-contending team instead of your precious Rangers. What would you expect?
