They do, but most (if not all) of the really exciting prospects are probably not going to make up before next season, at least as regulars. And while I know Greinke wanted out, it is kind of frustrating that the most exciting player KC has had in years is gone. Sort of a troubling reminder of the early part of the 00s when the management basically treated the club like a AAA team for the rest of the league. "Okay, we've got Carlos Beltran/Jermaine Dye/Johnny Damon, and they're great and everyone loves them! Now, instead of letting them be the cornerstone of the rebuilding project we've needed to start for a while, let's trade them for more prospects, most of whom won't pan out, and the ones that do, we'll later trade for more prospects. Repeat ad nauseam."

Tim Brown is fishing there. First he praises Moreno for being a good businessman, then scolds him for not being a bad businessman. Most of these writers don't seem to get the idea that is was crazy to pay that much for Crawford. They're just the same complaints about the offseason Angels, they don't make headlines by commenting on rumors.

Bah. Rangers have the best farm

They're not even close to the Royals at this point.

I understand. It really sucks to see them get traded away. At least they're on the right track and trying to accumulate young talent for the future. They need to get rid of Dayton Moore though.

And in a bad way. I'm still optimistic about Ned Yost as the skipper, though. He seems a little better at using the pieces he's got than Hillman or Bell ever were.

There we go. Much better than going off some Twitter account.

With Texas missing out on Lee and Greinke, plus Tampa now saying that they're not looking to move a starter, I'm now more concerned with Oakland than Texas in 2011.

But we made it to the playoffs pretty much without Lee...and obviously without Greinke........so...

Or, you know, without any real competition for the last 3 months...

Anyway, I've already given approximately 456 reasons why I don't expect that to happen again. So...yeah, still more concerned with Oakland's roster at this point.

I think its safe to say that Tampa's run of playoff appearances is at an end. They basically have to repair their entire bullpen and replace Jason Bartlett (with Reid Brignac), Carlos Pena and Carl Crawford. They signed Joel Peralta from Washington and added some bullpen help in the Barlett trade. And they also are considering trading Matt Garza and probably James Shields. It's going to be a long 2011 season for Evan Longoria, David Price, BJ Upton and Ben Zobrist.

If Desmond Jennings can give them even 70% of Crawford's production, they should be fine. Bartlett and Pena arent huge losses, they played large portions of last year without either player and werent really oimpacted much. Rays also have a ton of great prospects on the rise too, I think they'll be alright. If anything their bullpen is probably their biggest concern now.

Yes, but no World Series without Lee. Also, the Rangers still would have been the only team in the Major Leagues to have never won a playoff series.

Some news:

- Washington signs Rick Ankiel, Cleveland signs Austin Kerns. Chan Ho Park is headed back to South Korea.

where he will be shot for being a failure

Can we wait until someone legitimate posts it somewhere other than Twitter before we bother with those kind of rumors?

Twitter is part of the news media whether you like it or not. If Rosenthal tweets something then it's usually taken with credibility.

Chan Ho Park is headed back to South Korea.

Chan Ho is suiting up to take on the North. King Jong won't see him coming.

Given the size of Kim Jong Il's glasses, I'm surprised he doesnt see Haley's Comet coming....

But this wasn't Rosenthal tweeting it. It was some random blogger from Milwaukee. Just because he happened to be almost right about the deal doesn't mean we should take everything everyone says on Twitter to heart.

local guys can sometimes be credible as well...How many times have Rosenthal and others been wrong? Countless...Twitter is bigger then what you take it as now

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Cliff Lee sign with the Phillies last night. I guess it's pretty serious. #Yankees, #Phillies, #Rangers

Local people are usually wrong since they have no idea what they're talking about. I hear one say the Yankees will get Felix Hernandez even though the M's GM has no interest in trading him.

Rosenthal is actually accurate.

Of course local Yankee people don't know what they're talking about. They're so blind to reality they think they can get anyone they want for 3 cents on the dollar.

lol...you gave several reasons last year why the rangers wouldnt make it to the playoffs...i hope this gives us the same kinda luck :)

Unless they acquire another top pitcher at the deadline, they won't be as good.

maybe not in the playoffs but lets not forget...lee didnt really do a whole lot in the regular season for us...lol

They didn't need him to because the Angels, A's, and Mariners were all out of it early. It's unlikely for that to be the case again this year
