F******CK

D-Backs resigned Heilman. Wtf Towers, you don't rebuild the bullpen by keeping one prone to goferballs in AZ.

Because clearly Heilman was the weak link of that pitching staff?

Toronto better be paying all but 20 bucks. Then the deal might not be one of the absolute worst in franchise history. But it'd be close.

Giving up Napoli for Vernon's contract?

It's like the holy trifecta of bad trades. With one move the Angels got older, more expensive, and worse.

I hate this trade with every fiber of my being.

FanGraphs had a spontaneous chat session just to openly mock the trade. It was pretty funny if each comment wasn't a dagger to the team I support.

Oh, and here's a fun note. In 2011, the Angels will pay 53 million dollars to 3 Centerfielders. None of whom will be playing Centerfield for them.

in all seriousness, it's bad, bad moves

not as bad as Tampa Bay trying to get Manny Ramirez or Johnny Damon though

It's WAY worse than those deals. Tampa gave them, what, 7 million dollars combined for one year? That's nothing.

ahhahahahahahahaha. wow.

nice job angels. 4 years, 86 million? seriously? and the jays aren't even paying another cent on that contract! seriously?

What happened to the Angels being a smart organization:huh: I mean, some decisions you can ignore but willingly taking on that contract? Ugh.

Somehow the Jays handed out one of the worst contracts in MLB history and only wound up paying a third of it. It's just ugly. Arte Moreno must be the most generous owner in Baseball because he just gifted the Jays a hell of a lot of money.

There's absolutely no justification for this trade. You don't take on that kind of contract in its entirety AND give up useful players at the same time. How is that even heard of in this sport? Hell, if they wanted him that badly they could have just claimed him off the waiver wire and given up nothing to get him.

Still fleeced your team though.:oldrazz:

and i thought signing beltre was kinda confusing...
this is...not good...lol

Neither Damon or Ramirez were offered arbitration by their respective teams. Besides Tampa is stacked with draft picks and I think they still have another free agent or two left that they gave arbitration to.

Ugh, I had some hope for next season with getting Morales back for a full year, and having Haren for a full year...but that move singlehandedly just crushed it.

Being a bad team making a dumb trade isn't as bad as a playoff contending team making a godawful trade.

Yeah, but you've still got Joe Saunders.

Commiserate brother.
