Alright Fish, let's take a bet.

If Wells amasses more WAR over four years compared to Saunders' two years.

You will win a Mr. Bucket

You know, it kind of looks like Vernon Wells at that.

Wells OPSd .708 last season on the road in which he had a decent year with most of his power coming at home.

Yup, enjoy that 700 OPS (or lower) for another 4 years.

I won't enjoy any part of Vernon Wells. I despise this deal. Did the Mike Napoli memorial on the last page not convey that?

to be honest, i think the angels will be competitive this year, and that vernon wells will help them be a better team.

however, they will only be marginally better, imo, and they are crippled by his mind-numbing contract.

totally not worth it. but at least you can hope for a good year.

That's what makes it such a baffling and awful trade. The Angels only marginally improved (if at all), yet they assumed the entire contract AND gave up two useful players that at the very least had positive trade value.

They were going to be competitive anyway but now they've shackled themselves with this behemoth and limited their options going forward. It was a monumentally stupid trade.

Hahahaha. Looking at that trade, the Jays GM must be a genius of the highest order. How the hell did he get the Angles to make that trade? :lmao:

Maybe the Angels should stop living in the dark ages and apply sabremetrics to their scouting and evaluation of players?

And now Napoli was just traded from the Blue Jays to the Rangers for Frank Francisco and cash.

what is WAR??

Wins Above Replacement. A measurement of value compared to an "average" player of that position. The Higher WAR you have, the better and more value you have to your team according to the stat. It's different for pitchers and hitters obviously. Halladay lead the NL in WAR and I think Lee lead the AL in pitching WAR.

The trade that just keeps kicking me in the nuts. First the Angels wind up with that...thing, and then the Blue Jays are able to get a better return for Napoli within 5 days. Of course sending him to the Rangers where I'll get to see him be all awesome against the Angels 19 times a year.

**** Tony Reagins.

Yankees are lacking two pitchers at the back-end of their starters. WTF are they waiting for?
