Can't Marvel make an Astonishing X-Men animation? Preferably with Whedon as the editor?

I'd be happy with a comic that came out on time. :p

That looked pretty cool. Can't help but laugh when the team is walking in unison tho...as an animator (well a modeler) i know how hard is it to do a good walk cycle. :oldrazz:

But seeing them walk around is still great.

That's why animation is so popular.

The art in the new issues looks great. I actually want to get it now.

And I wish they started making animated movies based on Marvel comic books (like they're doing with DC lately) and have one based on Astonishing. That would be awesome.

ASTONISHING X-MEN #32
Written by WARREN ELLIS
Pencils & Cover by PHIL JIMENEZ
“EXOGENETIC,” PART 2 of 5
The X-Men have fought towering, mutant-slaying robot Sentinels before. But never one quite like this. Never a Sentinel made of meat and bone, wearing the skin of one of their own deceased teammates, every technological aspect given a biological solution. And as the X-Men fight for their lives, they’re left to wonder: What could this monstrosity have to do with THE BROOD?
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$2.99

"My little fruitbat." Officially the best pet-name ever.

Why is it that whenever Logan charges anyone, or anything in this case, he is always either fried, pummeled or batted away. The guy does know how to fight, right? It's like all the writers, because they know he can heal, only use him for target practice. :(

I think it's Mary-Sue backlash. After we got crap like Enemy of the State where damn-near every hero in the Marvel Universe had to ban together to stop Wolverine, I think a lot of writers have been trying to balance it out by using him as cannon fodder.

Or like he could take out every X-Man in the Old Man Logan story.

Hard to feel sympathized with him. :P

I finally got around to reading the first six issues, and I'm very impressed. I've just recently gotten back into reading comics and I grew up watching the X-Men animated series and wanted to revisit those characters, and I figured this would be a good place to start given the critical acclaim.

I'm going to read through this series as quick as I can because it's awesome.

good choice. Whedon's books have been some of the best in X-Men history. unfortunately Astonishing losed some steam after he left. not bad, just not as good.

Does the Astonishing Team make any other major appearances besides the two Phoenix stories and World War Hulk?

well what 'Astonishing' is is the all-star line-up of the X-Men: Cyclops, Emma Frost, Wolverine, Colossus, Kitty Pryde, and later newcomer Armor and Storm. as Whedon was writing the book it was the flagship title for the franchise and he was pretty much the only one using those characters. But the books have changed since "Messiah Complex" (which you should read after you finish Whedon's run) and now 'Uncanny' is the flagship title dealing with ALL the X-Men and the over-arching plot of mutantkind's new home, Utopia, while Astonishing is just telling straight-up adventure stories using the same characters.

The AXM team was appearing everywhere when Whedon was writer. They seemed to be the defacto line up that showed up in all the minis and crossovers

Messiah Complex, huh. Thanks. I just read World War Hulk which I enjoyed. So, I guess I'll get to that next. I'm pretty sure I'll figure out the timeline soon enough.

its pretty straightforward. just read all his run- #1-24 and it ends with Giant Size Astonishing X-Men #1. Messiah Complex happens right after.

The Omnibus is expensive, but I'm willing to pay for it, especially for the 40+ extra pages.

Briefly regarding the motion comic (dont wanna go into it too much here). Has anyone bought the official one? I saw a clip of one that appeared to have been from months ago (and so obviously wasnt the real or finished one) and there was no mouth movement, limb movement or anything. But the trailer and the behind the scenes featurette up on newsarama and cbr has what looked to be excellent lip syncing. Unfortunately for us in the UK, the apple store won't let me buy anything from the US store and the UK one doesnt carry it.

I'm through issue #24 now. Great stuff. I've read about 125 issues of Uncanny, Wolverine, Legacy, Cable, some one-shorts and other miniseries this month, and this is by far the best title out there right now. It's funny, easy to follow, all the characters and drawn to perfection. The art is amazingly detailed. I hope Joss gets on board in some capacity in the future now that Dollhouse is dead.

I heard Whedon and Marvel did not part happily, it might be hard to get him to write X-Men comics for a while.

But I really really want him back.
