Marvel probably didnt like how slow he was with his writing. The constant delays surrounding him got highly annoying

i didnt care for whedon...or astonishing...wish it were canceled.

same here. It feels redundant and unnecesary especially since they arent even attempting to tie it into current continuity. Thats something thats always annoyed me.

i thought that was more Cassady. i remember them saying Torn/Unstoppable's scripts were done but Cassady couldn't keep up, plus they pulled him away for the Captain America special.

One would have thought that but Whedon continued to be late when he went to work on Runaways. That title suffered the same delays that AXM. He was paired with Michael Ryan and he's proven that he can produce art on a regular basis. The common denominator is Whedon. I used to love Runaways but dropped it bc of him bc I never knew when it was coming out. That made me pretty much lose interest in it

I hadn't noticed that. I'm still a little behind in my reading, but everything seems to line up fine.

you dont feel it when your not reading them in tandem with the rest of the books at the time. while they were off-planet on Breakworld and the ending happens (i dont know if uve read Giant-Sized yet) if you read the other X-books leading up to Messiah Complex you don't know how the story could fit in continuity. especially now its even worse because in Ellis's run they're still hanging around San Francisco and Emma can change in and out of her diamond form- both of these are no longer the case in all the other books. not to mention Beast's current feelings toward Cyclops and the state of the X-Men.

But you all overlook the importance Whedon's Astonishing run does to new readers.

Almost everyone expressed an interest in X-Men where I live this is the title which helps them get into the fandom.

now that he's finished yeah. while he was still going i dont think it wouldve been easy to say to a new reader to pick this up because it took forever to come out. when you have it collected into two volumes you just point to it and tell them to enjoy.

The distance and shipping cost help the problem in my case.:P

also Whedon's Astonishing set the tone for the franchise after 'Reloaded'. you had Milligan and Claremont doing whatever the hell they did, but Whedon was the flagship. now Uncanny is the flagship again and Fraction has taken the X-Men out of their comfort zone and taken the franchise in an entirely new direction, and 'Astonishing' is doing a poor job reflecting that.

AXM was the flagship but it didnt really set the tone for anything as nothing that was done in AXM was referenced in any other title at the time. The only major thing that crossed over was Colossus resurrection but overall the other titles didnt follow it. Thats a big difference between it and UXM now in which the other titles do follow the events that take place there and do have them reflected in story and character development. AXM has always felt too seperate from everything else

colossus's resurrection and kitty's removal from the x-titles.

Scott and Prof's relationship is pretty big. which happened first Deadly Genesis or Danger?

Read AXM #25-30 today. I liked it. I'm not a big fan of the artist, but I can deal.

Ghost Boxes #1 & #2 on the other hand, total crap. Some nice ideas, but the writing was terrible and barely made any sense.

Not that anyone would notice Kitty's removal in the other x-titles. Prior to Astonishing X-Men, Shadowcat was stuck in "Claremont Cameo Limbo," where Chris Claremont would only pull her out of his bag of tricks once every dozen or so issues.

you dont have to suffer the art anymore. 30 was Bianchi's last issue and Jimenez has taken over now- huge step up.

More like Armour is Wolverine's latest Kitty Pryde/Jubilee

With issues like in the old Wolverine series with "Tyger Tyger" I started wondering how many times he raised a girl child until she was man-high and then either left her or they became a couple. In too many books commenting on his past,.. there was always a young girl/woman being raised or sheltered by him with half the time romantic antics before he moved on.

Someone on the boards once complained that Logan was a dirty old man for having anything to do with Kitty and Jubilee, My response was "who do you suggest? there are no women crowding two hundred years for him to get with,.. Anyone old enough to be with him would be 80 years plus younger than he is - So who should he even talk to? Even Aunt May is too young for him.

meh.
