The art is top-notch! Why can't all the X-books look this good?

Did anyone else feel a moment of this last issue ripped off this?:

Really similar scenes, except this version was better.

im sure they did that before also after Morrison took over, but in Uncanny.

I haven't really read any X-Men regularly since Whedon's last issue. Kinda dabbled in Uncanny a couple of times, but nothing really interested me. I read underwhelming things about Ghost Box, but good things about this current arc.

You guys recommend getting back into this series with the past three issues? I try to keep my pull list to a minimum, but I've got room for one current X title. Any thoughts? Thanks.

i guess it depends on what kind of X-Men you want to read. this title is pretty much about strange, classic-type adventures for the X-Men, but it comes out bi-monthly (if were lucky) and its irrelevant to whats really happening to the X-Men at the moment. Uncanny is whats actually moving the characters forward but its divided the fans because of the enormous cast and just the general direction the X-Men have gone in recent years. we still haven't seen the new direction Legacy is taking other than the book is focusing on Rogue, and while it gives a lot more character development wed like to see in Uncanny, many of us (myself included) think its a waste for the title to be centered around the writers favorite character when its called X-Men.

if your strapped for cash, an X-book that comes out every other month is probably a good choice, and this story is much better than Ghost Box. id say its worth it.

WHAT IF? ASTONISHING X-MEN

STORY BY Matteo Casali, Jim McCann
ART BY Mike Getty, Kai Spannuth, David Yardin
LETTERS BY Jeff Powell
COVER BY J. Scott Campbell
PUBLISHER: Marvel Comics
COVER PRICE: $3.99
RELEASE DATE: Wed, December 23rd, 2009

From the pages of Joss Whedon and John Cassaday's classic Astonishing X-Men run, see two titanic tales unfold: In the first, what if Ord from Breakworld brought Jean Grey back from the dead instead of Colossus? What happens when she’s reunited with the X-Men? And Emma? And how will this change affect the entire galaxy? A story of life, death, love and loss resulting in one word that strikes fear into all: Phoenix! “WHAT IF JEAN GREY WAS RESURRECTED INSTEAD OF COLOSSUS?” by Jim McCann (NEW AVENGERS: THE REUNION) and David Yardin (X-MEN ORIGINS: GAMBIT). In the second, when the artificial being known as Danger is out to destroy Xavier and his X-Men, someone else picks up her signal. Someone deadly they’ve never faced before... someone who's ready to fall in love with the mutated Danger Room! “WHAT IF DANGER BECAME ULTRON’S BRIDE?” Written by Matteo Casali with incredible art by Mike Getty! Plus a “SAY WHAT?” comedy strip by Mike Gallagher (Mad Magazine) and Dave Manak (Spy Vs. Spy).

"What if Danger became Ultron's bride?" :hehe:

I really don't see a lot of point picking this up...

Thanks for the input. I'm a big Cyclops fan, so I think Uncanny would've been the only other choice other than Astonishing. I've read a few Uncanny issues here and there, but I've always felt it's one of those books that's only kinda worth it, and I'm trying to limit my purchases I'm really happy with. The bi-monthly thing also helps. I don't mind it.

Especially when you take into consideration that I don't even know who Ultron is...

Besides, where is the fun marrying a robot lady?

PS. Some people might pick it up because Emma took the ***** punk from the alien (I am never able to remember his name.).

Ultron is a robot that was created by Hank Pym aka Ant-Man aka Yellowjacket aka 12,000 other names, but now he's calling himself Wasp in honor of his dead ex-wife.

Anyway, Ultron is a robot gone bad. Big Avengers villain. He's also the creator (or dad) of several robotic superheroes like Vision and Jocasta from the Avengers, and Victor Mancha from the Runaways.

Oh, thank you for the information!

Wasp was a herioine, right? The tiny one with wings? So how becoming a villian is a good way to memorize his dead heroine wife?

Actually, Hank Pym is a hero. He just created a supervillain robot by accident.

that art is effing beautiful! i think ill pick it up just for that.

I am enjoying this new artist, so much better than...er, I forgot how to spell the previous guy's name.

Bianchi gave the title a much more sensationalist feel, which really fit the script of Ellis's first arc. Jimenez is in all ways much more conventional, which also really fits Ellis's scripting for this arc. I don't know if it's Ellis himself or Marvel doing the fitting, but someone's making this work. My money's on Ellis, given how good he is.

Also, another great issue in #33.

OMG what is Beast doing to Wolverine? Whatever it is, he seems to be enjoying it. :awesome:

I understand the attempted joke. No, really, it was very funny.

But how do you mistake what is obvious pain on their faces for enjoyment?

Logan's face is pretty ambigious actually, but I meant the position he's in and Beasts hand placement. Not their faces...

Yes, as I said, I understood the attempted joke.

How can you not consider the face? Being that the face is that which would emote enjoyment or horror or terror or anger? That has to be included in the attempted joke. Hey, if Logan had a thumbs-up going on and a big ol' happy face, it'd be a great joke.

But being that his face is pretty much not ambiguous and he looks to be screaming in pain and covering his ears and is torqued in a standard pain-pose, the joke isn't so great.

Wow, you are absolutely correct....<_<....>_>...
