Sorry for all the spoilers, not sure if they're needed, but I didn't want to spoil any of X3 for people... Now, with that said, on to the rest of the post for those that don't mind reading.

Well, due to
what's happening in X3 with Cyclops
, and the current trend to pull elements from films to change comics, what is the outlook on the effects that may carry through to
Cyclops
? I mean the whole idea of destroying the breakworld is interesting, but what could really come from it? I mean,
does he or does he not have his powers still
? Could being the breakworld destroyer really be just a way to
bring the death from the movies into the comics
? I know that I've read that Whedon wanted to use each of the issues of this new arc to explore the motivations behind each of the main characters, and have it somehow play into the outcome of the newest arc. And while it's nice to see what's going on with it, if they're all being told by Emma, how can anyone be sure that they aren't just her attempting to manipulate everyone? I don't know one way or the other but the way these comics are going leaves me a little uncertain
about the fate of Cyclops
.
Frankly, he's my favorite X-character and has always been, and I'd hate to see him get killed off like this.. although, I'll admit it would be an odd similarity to Jean's death as Phoenix for destroying worlds
.

Quesada said that since the movie is successful enough to stand on its own, they're not going to be bringing any of the stuff from there into the comics.

Emma put Kitty on the team to keep a check on herself, and Cyclops will not die here.

Even if Cyclops dies....people are not going to take it seriously[just like his first ''death'' and any time jean dies.

He would be back in a couple of months.

ASTONISHING X-MEN #16

Written by Joss Whedon, pencils and cover by John Cassaday.

"Torn," part 4 of 6. The X-Men have been ripped apart and mentally destroyed. Only one remains standing. But with the combined power of the Hellfire Club standing in their way, what chance do they have?

32 pages, $2.99, in stores on Aug. 23.

I don't think Joss wants to be remembered as the guy who killed any X-Character (regardless whether or not it is temporary), it is his first title and he still has yet to endear himself fully to fans, he's already treading a thin line with Emma Frost.

Yeah but when IS Jean coming back? :(

According to Quesada, there are no current plans to bring Jean back. Doesn't mean it'll never happen. It just means they're waiting before they actually come up with anything.

I have started reading astonishing since #13 and I'm enjoying it a lot...

What do you think about most people guessing that Jean/Phoenix is one of the Hellfire Club members? (perfection, I think is the name)

ASTONISHING X-MEN #16 -can't wait till August how do we go the whole Summer with no conclusion to Scott's lobotomy?

I love kitty and she looks kickass taking a stand but she's toast.

She doesn't really have an offensive power and the Xmen don't stand a chance in hell without Perfection (if she's Jean) or someone else ...a corrupted Emma, Scott or someone else switches sides to help her.

Question: Im a hard core xfan but only flipped thru the phoenix endsong(couldnt stand to see jean die again...)
1. Technically she's not dead- She has no body but is living in the M'kran crystal right with other souls who've possessed Phoenix?

2. Isn't this also where D'ken Lilandra's crackhead brother lives in exile?Anyone have any definitive answers on that?
I wonder if Vulcan will meet up with Jean in there?

Joss Whedon is my sheperd!!!!!!!!! I just finished reading 14 (yeah I know, a little late)... and... BY THE GODDESS!!! TAKE THA YOU BLOODY CYCLOPS FOLLOWERS!!!!! And the retcon!!!! Rejoice Ororo fans!!!! The whole Madelyne influenced in the Ororo/Scott duel went down the drain!!!! Ororo won fair and square and Cyclops didn't argue!!! *does little victory dance* I only hope the last image of him looking like that means
he's brain dead
which he has always been.

So I guess Deadly Gen happened before this issue, right?

Moonstar, according to Marvel, Jean is dead and there are no plans to change that status.

...

I must say this with all honesty and calmness about me.

It would be so much easier to take you seriously if damn near every post you made didn't have to relate back to that damn woman in some way.

I dont think Emma is going to go to the bad side, at the end she is going to be with scott and the x-men, she is probably going to be forced by the hellfire club to domething agains the x.men, but at the end i think she is going to reddem herself at least
I think Emma has be dropping hints to Kitty about what is going on so that the X-men can "take her down".

they never necessarily said that madelyne didn't influence the duel. there's a chance that none of the x-men knew what maddie did.

I wouldn't be surprised if the upcoming Uncanny X-men arc ended with Jean coming back. It's suppose to span 12 issues. A full year leading up to her return wouldn't be bad at all I think.

I know she said that, but it could easily be a cover up. And Kitty seems to be the only one left.

And what the hell about Kitty not having an offensive power??? Hello what happens when she rips your heart out or "goes all ninja" on you like Logan said. Yeah her powers arent directly offensive but they can be used offensivly and very deadly.

Madddie clearly said it before all the X-Men, Scott should have said "But maddie had a hand in it", but he didn't, so it was retconned :D

Thank you! Everyone seems to forget that Kitty is one of the best hand-to-hand fighters in the X-Men.

Yeah, Kitty's phasing power can be real deadly if correctly used. Didn't she kill someone when she let the person go while phasing through a wall? With her ninja skills -- oh, boy, watch out.

And that Kitty cover is badass.

What about the possibilities of either Kitty or Emma being the one to destroy the breakworld? I mean, IF Emma has gone back to the Hellfire club, combined they might be able to destroy it. And at this point, it's not clear what side she's on. And as unbelievable as I feel it may be, as it's been pointed out recently about Kitty's power, she could be near unstoppable and a force to be feared if she ever went insane.. For crying out loud, you can't TOUCH her to hurt her if you tried..
