In regards to the recent Perfection revelation...

Doesn't Emma have an older sister that also took that same alias of the White Queen?

I mean I do like the other theory of it all being in a certain someone's head, but just an idea. Any thoughts?

That one's dead. Emma shot her.

Or the actual white queen in the Hellfire Club. The one that had that long psi-battle with Rachel last year. I forget her name.

That was [blackout]Emma[/blackout] who fought Rachel. The one you're thinking about is [blackout]Courtney Ross, or rather her imposter Sat-yr-9 posing as her[/blackout], who didn't actually fight Rachel. But I don't know if she'd be Perfection, since she's been known to be a part of the Club already, which is the part that Shaw disagrees with, hence why he's with this new group.

Courtney, that's it.

So, who makes up the current Hellfire Club? Selene, Sunspot, that cyborg who's name eludes me, and Sat-yr-9 right?

I think the cyborg guy in Pierce. I want to say Donald Pierce, but I don't know if Donald is the White King, or his relative who's been dating Dani Moonstar.

You got it right. But I don't know if they really consider him a member anymore since he pretty much tried to kill all of them the last time he appeared.

Yeah, Pierce and Shaw did have a bit of a "falling out" :D

I'm more concerned with Sunspot's whereabouts.

Ok... First of all, I love Astonishing, but what Wheadon has done in the last issue is... such a crap!
Didn't anyone else notice? In issue #12 Kitty could not key in command into the sentinel 'cos in case she got tangible, she would get shot. She couldn't choose to make her fingertips tangible, and the rest in phasing state. That's why she had to talk to the sentinel.
Now look at the last issue, when
she's kicking Emma's butt... through the wall!
I mean, what happened to her being either intangible or solid? NOW she can choose to make only her fists tangible and
punch Emma on the face through a wall??? (Not mentioning how the hell is she seeing her through a wall)
.
I'm very disappointed with Mr. Wheadon. It's not like he didn't do any research on the character - he chose to ignore what HE had established in HIS previous issues just to serve a plot. I expected higher of him... :(

Well... yeah. Kitty is also known as Shadowcat ;).

Yeah, that's what I thought too. I can't remember Kitty having that kind of control of her phasing power

The last page made me curious to see what happens next.
It seems Colossus will have a much bigger role in the next tow parts of the story.

Meh.... kinda predicted the reveals in this issue.

Maybe, but those two pages just make it worth it. Despite the wacky schedule, it really feels like something big is going down. Whedon's been waiting for this fight from day one, and it's well worth the almost two year wait now.

While I don't believe that any story arc can be justified by two pages (ie. anyone who complained about the House of M mini, but said it was all worth it after the "no more mutants" panel... they're all full of s***), Kitty kicking Emma's ass is a moment I've been waiting for since Kitty said "I can smell you." It did not disappoint.

I totally agree. They way those two talked to eachother and behaved, it was bound to happen, but when it actually did! ****ING AMAZING!

best part was that Kitty got in 5 moves before Emma could defend herself

So Kitty can make parts of herself intangible and other parts solid. Because when her leg is through the wall and kicking Emma her thigh is phased but her foot is solid.

Darn I was having such a fun time thinking she could do that.

I've read some recent theories recently.

Two of the most interesting being that the Emma Frost as we know it is really Jean Grey who adopted Emma Frosts at the moment of her death at the end of Morrison's X-Men run, a kind of amalgamation of the two that explains Emma's need to validate herself as the phoenix. And that 'White Queen' (and possibly the rest of the HC) is an offshoot of this process.

It's unlikely as it flies in the face of both Morrison, Greg Pak's endsong, and reason. But its a cool theory.

Another cool one is that 'Perfection' is really Martha Johannsen or 'No-Girl' who is the Brain in the Bottle from Morrisons run, and is capable of mass psychic hallucination and manipulation. And that 'The Manger' is where Xavier keeps his cloned bodies in case he quickly needs to transfer his consciousness on the moment of his death ( similar to what happens in "X-Men 3") And that Martha wants to get her hands on the Manger so that she can transfer her consciousness into Xaviers Body, but she needs Emma to to this and, obviously, the X-Men gone so that there is no opposition.

Another cool one involved Maddy Pryor, but thats hugely unlikely.

I also read a theory that reckons the Manger is the next step for the Danger Room, and that it manifests threat Psychically rather than Holographically, and somehow its gotten out of hand with Emma's influence.

Anyway, I'd hate for Whedon to finish this with saying that the Hellfire Club is just a huge, collective 'mind****', because its a bit of a cop-out - its kind of like saying "it was alllll a dream", you know, scooby doo style ;).

Anyway, I keep remembering some things about the Danger arc, like, how "Danger" knew emma's secret, and how Emma appeared to deliberately 'free' Danger from the constraints of the room... dunno, something there you reckon?

So I'm hoping the existence of the HC is much more than just psychic constructs.

I would literally die of happiness if Whedon brought Jean back like that. I can't even imagine the repurcussions of that. It does kind of fly in the face of logic, though.

Do you think that they heard to fans' calls for giving us Jean back???
Bacause its Jean we are talking about and we all know she comes back one day...

I still remember tha issue where a fan asks about Jean and writers answer that she's gone a long time now... Oh poor jeannie fans!

Anyway a coming back of hers (not like endsong, a real come back) would add spice to the whole plot! and love triangle Emma/Scott/Jean!

Hmmmm... my main gripe with the current "Kitty alone against the Hellfire Club" story is that she isnt. Theres a whole X-Men team there in the mansion, and other X-Men hanging about, and 198 other mutants and numerous huge sentinals all hanging about the front lawn.
Even the New X-Men team is nowhere to be seen, which is even weirder, as without them, the student body in Astonishing seems to only consist of the same 2-3 kids most of the time.
The other X-Men are there.. its proven by the fact theyre in every other X-Men comic. Whedon really should at least try to come up with an excuse why theyre not around, even just saying theyre out on missions around the world would be enough. Its kinda hard to fit his book into continuity if he wont aknowledge that theyre there.
