Official Batman Titles thread 2.0 - - - - - - - Part 16

It's already been revealed who it is. The panel revealing who it is was over on the site that shall not be named like last week or over there weekend. It's
Gordon

I think it's pretty known by now that it's Gordon. But what happens to Bruce?

what happens to Bruce? Snyder said it was something unique and bold that we've never seen before in the whole batman's history, so obviously, it can't be bruce dying, since it has been done several times already.

Everything Snyder hypes he says is unique and bold yet it's always turns out being rehashed and idiotic.

Bruce will be the suit that the new Batman wears

I think you need to reread what I said. Read it very carefully, and realize that I did not leave out any words on accident.

Thanks a lot. Next time use the bloody spoiler tags.
Oops, my bad, totally forgot to tag it

Anyway, according to interviews, it is said Snyder's contract will be up after issue #50 of Batman. I'm kind of glad, because even though his stories are interesting, his Batman is probably the most arrogant, incompetent, ill-prepared Batman I have ever read. I'm all for humanizing him, but this is Batman we're talking about, and when [BLACKOUT]you have him going to Arkham purposely to confront the Joker AS BRUCE WAYNE and essentially revealing his identity to him due to a suspected break in at the cave, all to call his own perceived bluff that the the Joker doesn't want to know who's under the mask,[/BLACKOUT] is just borderline ******ed -_-

I caught up with all the Batman comics and i just cannot wait for Snyder's run to end. I couldn't believe such an incompetent and annoying characterisations could come out of the guy who wrote the excellent Black Mirror. Endgame was a chore to read through. So overwritten. Why everyone has to be such a puppet. I know it's the Joker they are dealing with but come on. Such tools, everyone not just Batman. I'm dissapointed because i know he is a good writer. :/ Peter Tomasi is still the best Batman writer of the new 52.

I just re-read Black Mirror last week. Love it.

Scott Snyder to me personally is kind of the Emperor with No Clothes. Nowhere near the quality of writer many people like to claim he is. It's one thing if his writing caters to your tastes more power to you but to equate him with a Grant Morrison or even a Frank Miller especially this early in his career is borderline insulting to those 2 guys.

Those cats didn't always hit home runs either but at least they kept it challenging and compelling for themselves and were very unapologetic with their writing. Snyder has been resting on the same tropes for four years now. Whether it's Swamp Thing or Batman the "voice" in both books is exactly the same as is the cadence and structure. It's pretty one note.

As far as his Batman goes. The Black Mirror was good and Gates of Gotham was serviceable. Both stories also highlight the feeling I have that he's a much better Dick Grayson writer than Bruce Wayne.

His Bruce Wayne/Batman is pretty much an idiot and I can't stand reading him most of the time. Court of Owls was ok but derailed by the point the story evolved into Night of the Owls. That was the first red flag. Then Death of the Family was boring and insulting. That was the second red flag for me. Finally Zero Year was so long winded that I didn't even finish it and finally in good conscience decided to drop the book altogether halfway through the arc.

I contemplated checking out this 10 issue All New Batman arc. Because the Divergence spoiler page hinted at some fun and lord knows I've been asking for that from Snyder/Capullo's book for years now. But after really thinking it through I'll just sit it out especially since it's likely his last story during this run anyway. Instead I'll just save me some money to invest in other books I may want to try out or have ignored by not just continuing my break from the main Batman book but also dropping 'tec till Bruce comes back.

Snyder's writing structure (open with analogous monologue, exposition, exposition and close with another symbolic monologue) grew tired quite quickly for me. So if he and Capullo indeed are done by #50 and decide not to continue it would personally be music to my ears. I've been waiting for a new writer especially (I'm ok with the art) on Batman (the series) for quite some time now.

Would be even better if they just go to Marvel altogether for a while and just leave DC alone. That way I don't have to deal with their "creative" shenanigans on any other book I may currently read since the majority of my pull list is DC.

They should bring Jason Fabok to take over the reigns after Capullo finishes his run with Snyder. I would absolutely love that.

He's too busy with Justice League. It takes a very long time as it is to get the art ready per issue on a blockbuster title like that. Imagine 2 of them.

I loved Black mirror
I loved Zero Year
I liked court of the owls
I liked Endgame
I disliked Death of the family

I am looking forward to the Gordon is Batman run

I either liked or loved Snyder/Capullo combos and of course am fully on board with this big ten part-finale.

What's funny is outsiders on some other forums who don't have a clue what's going on in DCU commenting on the 'catastrophic decisions with certain characters'.

It's called evolution. Luckily Batman always had cream of the crop artists who know what they're doing.

Isn't he on Detective Comics too? Or was that before he moved to the current JL issues? The combination of Johns and Fabok is getting me excited for Darkseid War

Fabok has been on JL since the last arc (Amazo Virus).

Francis Manapul handles both the writing and art duties on Detective Comics along with Brian Buccellato.

So is this upcoming Robo Bat-Bunny arc the last for Snyder/Capullo?

I'll miss Capullo, but I think Snyder needs a bit of a break from Batman.

Their contract is up by issue #50 yes.

They may or may not sign on for more.

Personally I hope that they don't.

Truer words were never spoken.

When it comes to his current run, I think only the Court of Owls arc will stand the test of time. His other arcs are just him trying to do things that were already done better by other writers.
