i kinda didnt care for this past issue of batwoman. its the first issue of that title that i can say that about. i hate it when characters solve dire situations with impossible technology. its such a boring cop out.

I loved this weeks issue. Loved seeing Kate kicking ass and I loved how things have been developing this issue

I really hope Maggie is going to be okay though. I love that character and i love her and Kate together so much. I hope that nothing bad will happen to her :(

Loved Kate's wonderfully dirty pun about her love life as well :woot:

And i dug the new character, Sune so far. I'll be interested to see if she's going to be an ally for Kate or if she's plotting to betray her and the DEO

Gail Simone wrote one of the best DC series in the last 10 years with Secret Six and her work on Bane in particular is considered to be one of the best in the characters history.

Wait.. we're just getting word--is that right? Yes, yes, it's official: nobody ever wrote Bane better than Gail Simone did.

^ she seriously needs to help work with the character after that whole mess with The Dark Knight.

Batwoman did enough this week, The whole revelation with Hook was well done I thought, liked how it tied into Rucka's run.

The Hook was SO creepy. I love The Hook and Bloody Mary I hope they stick around as part of her rogues gallery. They're brilliant weird spooky ideas for villains

And I love the whole urban legend theme. The hook handed killer, the crocodile in the sewers, the spirit of Bloody Mary living in mirrors. It's neat

yeah I love how batwoman's rogues gallery has a supernatural flavor to them

Yeah equating Simone with Daniel as a writer is like equating Lee with Liefeld as artists. Sure Lee has been hit or miss but he's never been as downright terrible with anatomy, expressions and overall panel composition as his chum has been either.

I just don't get why they won't pair Daniel with a co-writer. From what I've seen his art which I already liked has only gotten better but his writing just keeps getting worse.
Isn't his comic still selling pretty well? It'd be kind of an insult to pull him aside and be like, "Your comic's doing well on the charts, but we're gonna pair you up with an experienced writer because, frankly, sales be damned; you can't write to save your life."

editorial doesn't have to explain anything to him

from what I hear they usually don't explain their decision to any of their talent V_V

I'm sure that can't be true. They'd have very few people working for them for more than like a couple months at a time if it were.

It's selling solidly every month but so is TDK. Both are more than likely selling so good because they're starring Bruce and not because of their quality. I mean I know people who read 'tec and don't even have much of a problem with it in terms of writing and they still can't remember what happened from issue to issue cause it's just not memorable. At least Finch has the humility to admit that he could use a co-writer and made it happen. I don't think Daniel might so you're right he could definitely view that as insulting.

Well, they did piss off Rucka, Waid and even Fabian N-something or other enough to stop working for them.

Niceiza? I thought those guys left because of a lack of overall editorial cohesion. DiDio would just randomly change his mind about long-term plans and suddenly the writers would have to change their series' plans to go along with it. That's a lot different from being overtly obnoxious to individual writers.

Oh, I just meant the editor's pissed them off in general. :o

I've been digging Batgirl so far personally but the flashback with her mom in this weeks issue was awful on a waffle

I'm going to keep buying the book though because i like Simone's writing most of the time. She's one of my favourite writers

Yep so do i its pretty fab I think

I'm hoping to see more new villains like this in her rogues gallery :)

Barbara's family is extremely screwed up. She's carrying an unbelievable amount of psychological baggage. Her entire existence is defined by trauma. It's too extreme...it feels like a bad soap opera, desperate for viewers.

The flashback with young James Jr. made me set the book aside for a few days. Just plain crap. Although, the new artwork used for that segment looks great. They should switch her pencils to primary, ASAP, and bring Sook back for covers.

And they should start planning a future series to wash away the stain from this one.

Sorry your not enjoying it Cosmic :csad:

I've enjoyed it so far but that flashback did make me make the  face when I read it

So they're using James in Batgirl, wasn't one of the main point of Snyder's Detective run that Jr was the "Black Mirror" of Dick?
They made so many great villains for him, and yet they keep getting left on the shelf.

I'm hoping that Pyg might get some love soon he deserves to show up more often

Well, he is her brother.....they kind of have to address that.

It works with Babs, but I just hope that they don't out and out restrict Jr to a Batgirl villain. Nightwing really has **** all villains, it'd do the character wonders to include some of these great rogues,

I want faces to be eaten damn it :o

nightwing has the whole circus thing going on right now, why not bring back those circus villains from batman and robin vol. 1?

DC's writers and Morrison's creations rarely gel, for whatever reason. Maybe the other writers dislike them. Or they like them, but don't know how to approach them. Whatever the case may be, the only person interested in even referencing his Batman villains right now is Snyder. Maybe Tomasi, though he seems to prefer making his own characters in the same dark pop style. The only Morrison character that I've seen show up in the smaller titles is Damien, and that's mostly because he's the current Robin.

Someone said recently that they think DC's other writers are scared to use anything of Grant's out of fear it'll either be a letdown from his original work, or that it won't gel with his upcoming plans. Both of which kinda make sense to me.
