Seriously, by the time Cap, and the Avengers will have come out, we will have had 5 different marvel franchises all tied together. This will be THE cinematic Marvel universe... F4 will seem like a distant "What if?" film by then....

Seriously, think about 5 years in the future... Marvel have already said there are going to be other movies after avengers, including maybe Dr Strange, Luke Cage, Namor etc... that will lead to roughly 10 franchises all floating around, and all crossed over and related to one another... Fox and Sony will find themselves in a tight spot, because no one will consider their films as serious parts of the marvel universe. I honestly wouldnt be surprised if somewhere down the line they make a deal with marvel to combine the franchises, especially now that Disney could help them afford it.

Exactly, I could also see this being an eventuality. After Avengers comes out and Marvel starts puting out a couple smaller movies a year to further establish the MCU, they are going to want to do some larger arcing stories encompassing multiple characters from the universe. Spidey and the X-men are going to be on the outside looking in. Disney is somehow going to get permission or get the rights back completely to use these characters.

as long as Fox and Sony are using the properties they have the rights. This is why soon after Disney bought Marvel everyone and their brother who owns rights to a Marvel property announced a reboot.

It doesn't bother me one bit he played Torch. From this point on he's Cap in the continuity that matters in my eyes.

Yeah, but my point was that if the current MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) keeps expanding and becoming more succesful, making a deal with Marvel may become the only option for Fox or Sony for the continued success of their franchises, considering that they won't be part of what will come to be known as the official, canon Marvel film universe.

I dont think anyone at Sony or Fox is worried about their movies linking with the MCU...nor do I think people wont see Spider-man or X-men because they arent apart of the MCU.

yea it should be interesting to see if/when marvel/disney gets xmen and spider-man back. But yea i still say we will probably see dd/ff/gh back at marvel way before we will see sony give up on spidey or fox on xmen.

Spidey and X-men have made serious money for Sony and Fox...they arent letting them go. Seems like the studios want to retain the rights to the movies which is why there is a reboot of DD,FF and GH planned

oh sure they want to do dd/ff/gh films but in the end i dont really see it all happening and i could see those properties reverting back to marvel first. Then yea it will have to be through disney lawyers more likely we get spidey/xmen back to marvel. Also we already know sony has a time table of nov 14th to have a film going for gh or rights revert back to marvel.

1)Disney/Marvel cant get the rights back as long as the properties are being used. They would be in serious breach of contract and end up paying out the @$$.
2)You can bet that GH will go into production before the rights revert back
3)My issues with the rights reverting is now we are going to see hastily made films just to keep the rights alive...much like the 90's FF movie that was made just to keep the rights at the studio

yea i know that roach i was just pointing out like with gh we know it has a very short date to get going, and if nothing can get shooting by that date legally rights revert back to marvel for gh. As for dd/ff i dont know what any current due date they have going before rights revert back to marvel if said studio doesnt get going. As for xmen/spidey yea those two are probably going to be locked up with sony/fox to who knows what. Unless disney finds a loophole over their deals, or if maybe disney buys out the rights for some huge sum of cash. But yea more likely then not gh/ff/dd will probably be all rushed jos to just hold onto rights longer.

Uhh what the hell is GH?? Either that or I'm having a serious brain fart..... do you guys mean GR(Ghost rider)?

How many posters here have reservations about the suitability of Chris Evans for the role of Steve Rogers/Captain America? I'm not referring to the fact he has already played Johnny Storm in the two "Fantastic Four" films (he indeed was one of the highlights of that franchise). I simply feel he may not have the gravitas and presence to play such a character as Captain America. Now, I approach this question from a strength of general ignorance. I do not possess great depth of knowledge on Captain America nor the Marvel comics universe as a whole. However, my impression of Captain America is that he is a character who is a little stern, authoritative with a hint of stoicism who certainly is a deeply honourable man. What I've seen of Chris Evans thus far is that he plays a lot of 'funny' roles where he tends to be the joker of the group. Perhaps someone can allay my fears and point me towards a role of his in which he convincingly plays a man of authority and stature?

Sunshine would probly be the closest, The Loss Of A Teardrop Diamond is another one to see his range

I would suggest Push, Street Kings and Perfect Score. But otherwise, here's a video to show his worth:

When you want to embed a YT video, just use the part of the url that follows the =. It doesn't work if you use the whole address.

Ah I see, thanks for the info. I was wondering why nothing was showing.

No worries. You'd think it would work the same way as the image and url buttons but no.

am I the only one who finds that its very annoying that he played Johnny Storm and now Captain America?

I think if you play one hero in a comic book movie, especially one that has a wide universe such as Marvel you should stay as that one hero

Thats very different though. You don't see Michael Keaton play Lex Luthor and then play Batman/Bruce Wayne, you dont see Jack Nicholson play Joker and then Two Face or Riddler. To me they should be different people especially when its the same comic book franchise (it didnt bother me Duncan Hall was Kingping and the inmate that throws the device out the window in TDK), I'm sure all of us here are geeked out enough to watch all the comic book movies that are released and know who the characters are more than the average cinema-goer so its kind of annoying for me to see a guy who is Captain America(such a big character in Marvel) also play Johnny Storm who is one of the favorite Fantastic Four characters. The series is getting rebooted, but he was still Johnny Storm of Fantastic Four

but hey, atleast it wasn't Will Smith like the early rumors said
Hey I sympathize with you guys and I understand. What helped me was I looked at it this way.Since it was Fox that did the FF it doesn't really count and since it is Marvel doing Captain America. That does count. It at least helped me out.Now if within the Marvel Francise where there is a possibility of them comming into contact with each other then that's just plain wrong. However Fox is not Marvel so it doesn't count. At least that helps me.FF won't be FF until Marvel does it.

i have no issue with evans at all. he is a growing talent and i am sure he will bring his A game for steve rogers and play it well and in the right way.

The difference is Jack Nicholson was memorable in a memorable movie. Nobody even remembers the Fantastic Four movies anymore. They're garbage. So Chris Evans playing another superhero has no bearing. It's like Halle Berry. She'll be known as Storm. Not Catwoman. Nobody remembers that junk.

yea it was a silly mistake. i dont remember if i just hit the keys to fast and it was typos or what not.

This probably has been said before but here goes. I'm not overly familiar with Evan's acting ability, but by most accounts he is an able actor. However, the role of Captain American requires a person who exudes the gravitas and respect to lead men to their deaths in battle and other heroes of varying egos (Iron Man, Thor ect). Evans doesn't look to have that depth and acting talent won't give it to you. Its one of those "have it or you don't" things.
