I know it's gonna be a while, but I can't wait to see Evans in his costume.

Don't know if this has been discussed (check back only 2 pages) but I found this bit of the interview for Losers very interesting

this may have been the reason why people passed on the role

I think I now know why Tatum passed on Captain America....he is scheduled to be in a cop drama with Al Pacino and Ray Liotta...it starts filming next week

I know as an actor he can it.I Just wish he hadn't already done Torch.

I reckon he'll make a great Captain America. Why not? He's a good actor & has the right look about him. With training, he could look ridiculously great as good ole' Cap. It seems like a glove fit casting-wise.

If by Tatum you mean Channing: why??

He's not the best actor by any means & I don't think he has a broad appeal at all hey. Not strong enough an actor for me. No disrespect, I just don't get why people would want him to play Captain America.

So is it confirmed that Marvel offered it to Tatum and he turned it down?

Cause if it is, man did they dodge a bullet.

Tatum isn't that bad an actor. Not when directed well at least. He was great in Guide to Recognizing your Saints.

Saying that though, i wouldn't want him as Cap. Not after seeing him as Duke.

Please give me an example of one OTHER movie where Tatum was good. I've seen many crappy actors cast in exactly one part that was perfectly suited for them and deliver a good performance. But cast them in anything else and they're terrible. Maybe, since they did deliver one good performance in one movie, they can't be labeled as horrible, but I don't think they should seriously be considered good, either.

Sorry, I don't mean to be a dick, it's just that people keep citing Saints as proof of Tatum's acting ability. And while he's decent in it, there are MANY more examples of him being completely unwatchable.

I dont hate Tatum, just think he works better when not the leading man

Many people have brought this up, but as someonbe who works in a gym, and sees people cut weight and pack it on in a very short time, muscle memory is indeed very powerful ally. Once Chris hits the gym, which he probably already has, he'll regain his torch physique fast, and be able to build more on top of that. Chris' current build is a total non-issue.

I don't need advice from you child. You definitely were taking jabs at me. Let's not extrapolate this to how my days go .... I'm voicing my opinion the same way thousands of people are doing on this site minute by minute.....even repeatedly so. You just don't like the take.

Son I am far from a child so watch your tone, and you have your opinion and I have my own so lets just leave it there.

I wonder if the reaction will be as big as when Iron man was first revealed in comic con
Should be, especially as his face & how it looks in the mask is very important to the final look.

Play nice kids. We're talking about Captain America here, not world peace... Haha.

I agree with Lobo on preferring Tatum in a more supportive role, as opposed to the leading man hey. When I saw GI Joe, I actually literally feel asleep. Jetlag aside, it was just really bad.

I think Evans will be fine, he has enough time to get at the right size, he really wont need to get that much bigger and there is still know word on what his costume will eventually look like and what type of material they will use.

... Now the whole concept of a Super Soldier Serum is going to be a hard sell anyway,

 How do you figure?

People can accept flying armored men and Norse gods but not a super soldier serum...?

No I did not want him to play Cap but everyone seemed to think it was crazy he would turn it down.

Maybe he turned it down because he knew he wouldn't be able to do it justice. You never know I guess hey.

I think it had to do with him being offered a part in a movie with Pacino. Sure as fanboys being cast as a superhero is the end all-be all but for an actor to be in a movie with Pacino is tops.

Hopefully for Tatum he doesn't get shot and killed before he can open his mouth in this one.
