Yeah, but not thousands of years old. I think what's happening is that Logan is somehow remembering things that have happened to his ancestors. It's who his ancestors are that intrigues me.

I think you're right. I believe the term is genetic implaced memory. Like the way animals instinctively do certian things without being taught. An evolved human would have an even more expressive version of that.

But all and all I do think the story could be handled better.

I'm looking forward to it also but the dialogue just doesn't do it for me. Hard to describe and at the risk of saying this (and I know saying it for a comic is ironic) but it doesn't feel very real to me. The storyline is good but the characters just need a bit more emotion and bite.

Hmm...Well, fair enough, I guess. I'd disagree with that, obviously. The characterization is one of the main draws for me.

I've actually been digging Loeb's run on this book. Issue #51 was a little slow, but it's picked up since then. I think I'm literally the only person on these boards that's been enjoying this story.

That's pretty much how I look at it. There are obviously people on the boards who read the same books I do, and enjoy them for the same reasons. That said, I'm still a little wary of recommendations from books that I'm not reading.

Claremont is thankfully far, far away from Wolverine and the X-Men proper.

I always seem to get Uncanny early, and this is the earliest it’s come out yet (unless it came out last Wednesday and I was unaware of it .)

First off, I have to admit: I don’t really like Salvador Larocca. I’m not even sure why. He’s on-time and consistent. He doesn’t trace or paint (as far as I know.) And his art isn’t a confusing mess to follow (see Ramos, and Bachalo). Usually, those are the three things that drive me crazy about comic artists. But outside of that l’il Namor series (which I was in the minority of liking, including his art), I’ve just never cared for him. So, needless to say, those of you who like him will be thrilled that he's on the title. So with that out of the way:

Uncanny X-Men # 487 - So the X-Men are back on earth, dealing with the fallout from their little space adventure. Charles is going to track down Magneto, because he caught a stray thought from Valeria Cooper about him. Before he can get very far with Cerebra, he senses something going down with the Morlocks. Seems Masque is going to cause a little trouble, and attacks Leech and Caliban. Caliban escapes to the X-mansion, which sets up next issue with Storm and Co going down the sewer. Meanwhile, James and Hepzibah are bonding. It seems pretty obvious where this is heading, so when Corsair figures out how all the X-Men resurrect themselves, sparks should fly. Actually, I like the relationship. I’m finding that I’m interested in two characters who I previously didn’t care much for. Other than that, just a mention of the X-Men still in space. I think they'll be dealing with them in a mini or something. If so, I hope there's some tie-in to all the stuff that's happened in Annhilation.

Amazing Spider-man #541 – Issue starts where the last one left off. Pete drags the gunman around town and into the sewers, basically to let him get the word out that his family is off-limits. He then visits May and decides to give her a transfusion. Now, I know this will make a lot of people groan, but he’s actually done this before (which led to the story with the Master Planner and Spidey stuck under all that machinery-all of which is referenced in flashback- and I would note that they either reprinted the original artwork, or Garney did a real good Ditko impression). Anyway, after that he swings off to duke it out with Fisk, who has paid off the guards too get him his clothes and look the other way. Next issue should be good.

Captain America #27 – Basically, Bucky wants to make sure Stark doesn’t keep Cap’s shield, so goes out and gets it. Along the way, he mixes it up with the Black Widow, who it turns out, he shares a history with. Nice touch that makes sense, considering where Bucky was being kept.
Incredible Hulk #107 Wwh – Although I liked him at first, Amadeus Cho is becoming a bit more than annoying. It’s revealed that Angel can’t access any of his funds, but that’s allright, because Amadeus has already pilfered a bunch, bought some desert, and has decided to make a wildlife refuge for the Hulk (it didn’t sound as stupid when I was reading the comic). Some nice bits with Namor(as always)

Ghost Rider #12 Wwh – Pretty much all set-up for next issue with the Hulk.

Moon Knight #11 Cwi – Not much to say, except that: Iron Man appears on the cover, and in the comic- for one whole panel…and not even as Iron Man, but as Tony Stark.

Sensational Spider-man #38 – I’ve never been a big Venom fan, but I like this story. Eddie’s in the terminal wing of the hospital dying of cancer, and finds out it’s the same hospital that May is at. Venom (or his conscience) is dogging him, trying to get him to get revenge. Eddie finally succumbs, orders a black spidey suit, and it looks like MJ might have to fight off Eddie.

Fantastic Four #547 - If all team shake-ups went this well, I'd be really happy. I actually want Reed and Sue to stay away for a long time. The interactions between Thing and Storm are hilarious. Storm and Black Panther really fit right in. I was extremely dubious of putting the two of these together, and then marrying them off. But the payoff here is worth it. Storm is the interesting character that she was back when she was first introduced.

X-men 50/50 Wraparound #200 - If you thought a normal sized Bachalo comic was hard to get through, wait until you try a giant-sized one. The back up story is good, with Hank giving a re-cap of M-day, to a person unknown until the last panel, when it's revealed that he's putting up for bid some info he's uncovered while trying to come up with a "cure" for the end of mutations. He'll sell his discoveries to anybody who can help, including: High Evolutionary, MODOK, evil Beast, Dr. Doom, and a few others who I forget.

Oooops, the Dreaded Double Post

Well, I guess I'll get the fireworks rolling early (wow, rather than a swearing filter, SHH should have a pun filter. I sincerely apologize )

Uncanny X-men #488 $2.99 - This is not the best title that Bru is writing (with Cap and DD, that would be hard to claim anyway), but I think he's having a nice solid run. I liked, but not loved, his space adventure. And I'm liking, but not loving, his Morlock adventure. I think adding Hepzibah to the team was a great idea, and should pay some nice dividends. As always, not a big fan of Larroca, but he tells a good story, and he's not a tracer/painter, which automatically bumps him up in my opinion. So, this particular x-team(Storm, James, Caliban, and Hepzibah, who is quickly becoming my favorite character) goes down the sewer to ostensibly rescue Leech from whatever is going on down there. Some nice interaction between Storm and Hepzibah (Is it just me, or has Storm become more interesting since she got married?) James fights an alligator (for no apparent good reason), and they find carvings on the wall that specifically mentions the four of them, which means some prophecy-type character will probably be coming our way. It ends with Skids, and Erg kidnapping a subway train, and Masque disfiguring all of the passengers. Also, Charles has made the decision that he is not going to go along with the govt "protection" of the school, and he and Nightcrawler take off to see if they can find Magneto.

Runaways #27 $2.99 - Not as much to say about this one. Something tells me that Whedon wrote this just as an excuse to use the phrase "Wuxtree!" The Runaways are in 1907 NY, and get all gussied up for a period piece. They save some kids from a fire, and meet up with a guy that tells them there are other "Wonders." He takes them to where they hang out, pretty much an alley, and welcomes them to Camelot. Which prompts Molly to observe that "Camelot smells like poo." They meet the other wonders, including the winged guy they were just fighting in the present. The issue ends showing that Gert's parents are there messing around with the past.

Amazing Spider-Man # 544 –

Well, One More Day begins. I know a lot of people aren’t looking forward to this because of the rumors. So I’ll steer clear of those. Taking the story at face value, I liked it. This was the scene that I wanted to see between Pete and Tony ever since May got shot, and I wasn’t disappointed. Tony continues to vie for the title of Biggest *****e-bag Superhero (he’s in the lead by a pretty large margin), but it’s Pete’s struggle we’re concerned about. After giving Tony the smackdown, he tries to guilt trip him into helping May. But Tony Stark, Director of A.S.S.H.A.T. doesn’t want to give the slightest hint of impropriety. So, in other words Peter… suck it. He does let Peter go (let’s forget that after de-helmeting and immobilizing him, Pete could’ve turned his face into pulp), out of “respect for May.” To his credit, TS gets Jarvis to stop by with a checkbook to help out May. Which was another touching scene. I had completely forgotten that he and May were involved. Great touch. Art wise, I’ve never been a JQ fan, but it was good enough.

Also included was a Spidey Handbook entry. Usually, I don't even take notice of these things, but I was curious if they were going to diminish MJs place in it, considering the direction they might be taking. If anything, it was the opposite. It included everything, even lesser known events (incuding some old MTU teamups) and adventures. And it included all the controversial storylines (Clone Saga/Ben Reilly, Sins Past, parts of Chapter One, The Other) and retcons (MJ knew all along, Jackal was a clone, Pete a clone/ not a clone, Aunt May dead/not dead/dead/not dead). All of it was mentioned, which I thought was very refreshing. Good reading.

Incredible Hulk #110 -

In a nutshell, the seventh smartest person on the planet ( a group that includes Tony Stark and Reed Richards) pokes the Hulk and shows him his grand plan of a Gamma Reservation, while trying to prove to everyone else that the Hulk isn’t a monster. All snarkiness aside, it was a good issue. I’ve gotten a little tired of the cleverness of Amadeus, but I liked him here. He seemed a little more street smart than smarmy smart.

Honestly, I can't tell. If I had to place a bet, I would say if they were going to kill her, they would've done it by now.

And I got them yesterday. Which means I probably would've gotten them Monday if not for Labor Day.
