Official Excalibur and/or Captain Britain movie discussion thread

I would prefer the multiverse aspect be focused on. That being said, I've been pushing for more of a Captain Britain TV show that would be Marvel meets Sliders with a bit of King Arthur thrown in.

There’s so many characters that can do the multiverse though. I reckon a hidden world of psychotic elves and fantasy elements would be ace. You would need an everyman character that the audience can relate to and then they can start working with MI13 and the other more iconic characters.

I suppose that character could be a young and inexperienced Pete wisdom but that would obviously be a different vision to the character most people are familiar with

Fazia Hussein could be the every woman. She was a normal woman that got swept up in the superhero world in the comics. Brian was a bit of a average Joe before becoming a superhero as well.

Excalibur is one of the X-Men projects that I knew Fox would never do, or if they do it it'd be a bastardized version of it. I hope Feige will either make a movie for it once the X-Men universe is established, or make it a series on Disney+ first.

Except for being from an upper class family and being a nuclear physicist.

I loved the Alan Moore and Jamie Delano runs on this character - he's got a rich mythology of his own which could easily support a tv series or film. Hopefully he won't be quite as big a buffoon as he often is in the comics ( and hopefully they don't cast Charlie Hunnam !).

I meant they could meet up with the winter guard or have enemies appear from the red room, not necessarily that the Excalibur team would be from Russia

Kitty and Nightcrawler are key members of Excalibur, right? at least from the most popular run, if Im not mistaken
if thats the case, then hell yeah, Id love an Excalibur movie, where they get leading roles and other new mutants get introduced too, so we would get something really fresh for a chance (regarding the xmen universe)

Why not start Cap off with a classic solo story, and maybe introduce Megan - Jaspers Warp or Slaymaster or the Fury ?

There's so much material for Cap alone that I just don't see the need to start with an Excalibur film.

Emphatically agreed.

Sure, there's the origin to cover and all that but an alternative approach would be to step on at Moores 'Bad Moon Rising', 'Tea and Sympathy' etc. (which are almost cinematic in set up and presentation - always felt that it was just itching to be adapted) and go from there, with the origin told in flashback the way Moore did.

I feel like this and Black Knight are the same project. Captain Britain would likely serve as the "Nick Fury" for this team. Dane Whitman and Faiza would be the prime leads, in my opinion.

Then they can have him die and later brought back to life now wearing with the other more familiar costume.

They need to acknowledge his Marvel UK roots and his association with Black Knight and Camelot before moving onto anything with Psylocke and the X-Men.

Psylocke getting a real supporting role in a spinoff and then jumping to a x-men movie becoming an active member for next sequels would be awesome, and something Fox would have never done.

so really hope Feige sees the potential of Betsy

I would save him for a sequel. Have the first Captain Britain film set in the time of Camelot where it can feature the Black Knight. They can have him in his original lionheart costume. He can get killed by the White Rider and then brought back to life, whereupon he can get the Excalibur costume.

Then for a sequel they can move it to the 1940s. Yes, it would be copying Wonder Woman's model of moving through different decades, but that's fine. As for how Captain Britain survives that, well I don't know how he appeared in different decades in the comics in the first place. Maybe it was time travel or he was only temporarily there?

Didn't Marvel already have the equivalent of the Union Jack character in Captain America the First Avenger? I think it was just his alter ego, but he never suited up.

Yeah, J.J.Field played Falsworth in the First Avenger. During production, there were folk on here wondering what his UJ costume was going to look like, as if we were ever going to see it!!

i'd prefer to see a union jack movie with sean bean as jack,jason stathem is a southerner,whereas jack is a northerner...hence sean bean being right for the part with him coming from sheffield.

i say stathem would be better as baron blood.

i'd love to see a cap britain movie too...
