Sequels Official Gambit Casting/Speculation Thread [merged-6]

I just find it ridiculous that FOX is doing such a cheap marketing ploy to bring in people who don't like Wolverine so they see the movie just for Gambit. It's like putting Storm in a Rogue movie, they do have a lil history, but they just don't relate or match in any way for one to be on the other's film, even if they do have some dinamic on the group.

I guess that's expected, coming from FOX. Even with Gambit in, I'm waiting for the dvd.

I just hope they don't have Gambit be Logan's Robin. I can already see the "oh-so-funny" lines coming from the mouths of both characters. And I doubt any Gambit fans would like him to be an idiot sidekick...let's hope it doesn't happen.

I'm agreed with you about Fox, is like an insult, in some form.

You don't like Logan? It doesn't matter, let's have him as the star of the three x-men movies, you want Gambit? it doesn't matter, you already have Logan and his friends, you want X4? it doesn't matter, let's do a Logan movie, and now, only now, let's use Gambit, so his fans can come to see this movie, liking them Logan or not.

I won't be seeing this movie in the threatre either.

I'll download it, and no more. Probably I'll like it, but I won't be giving my money to Fox because of this movie.

When they do X4, I'll go to the threatre, but now not, sorry.

i like this guy as gambit, i wasnt planning on seeing this film... but now i will.

X4's chances probably depend almost entirely on the reception of this Origins movie. By not seeing it, you're making X4 even less likely.

That's a complex issue.

If Wolverine is successful, they'll know Logan is the most important factor, so that could confirm a new sequel of Wolverine, and no X4.

They know the numbers of the boxoffice of the trilogy. They don't need Wolverine to be a success to understand people want more x-men, they already know it.

They already know that Wolvie is their biggest cash cow. That's why he starred in all three X-men movies and is going to star in his own movie. I hope this movie does well for the sake of a possible X-4. I wouldn't mind if the Magneto movie bombed though.

Fox are a bunch of sleazy scuzballs. This is a studio that waited until Watchmen entered the advanced production stage to SUE WB over the copyrights. There is nothing that surprises me about these people any more. I have absolutely NO expactions from Gambit's role in the Wolverine movie. They don't care about the fans, they don't care about the character. It is just a cheap sleazy marketing ploy...

BUT

Considering that after X3 I was certain I was NEVER going to see Gambit in a movie adaptation, this to me is still a step in the right direction.

Never is a heavy word...too heavy. :) I know someday, maybe in 10 years, 20 years they will reboot the series and Gambit will appear. They HAVE to reboot it someday, just like what happened to Superman, Batman, etc. The movies were too successful for the studios to forget about these characters forever.

Right now, I could care less about an X4. It's just not gonna happen. At least not with that cast. The actors are getting older, they moved on. I prefer a reboot, and "Wolverine" failing makes it easier to happen.

It's an easy equation. If Team movie = Loads of money, and Logan movie = failure, they will urge themselves to bring the team back. But if Logan = money, then just forget a team movie. We'll have a Wolverine trilogy, and then maybe more Wolverine movies with other actors. A solo movie is way cheaper to make, and if it brings the same money, why bother bringing A and B-list actors to a team movie? It makes no sense from a business point. And this is why I root for the Wolverine movie to fail. Nothing against the character, I'm just rooting for the team as a whole to have a chance.

The worst part though, is that for the first time, they're doing what they should have done since X1: taking their time to make a good movie. And this saddens me.

Yeah... as Poccy's horseman. :(

Yeah... as Poccy's horseman. :(
lol, knowing how lucky Gambit fans are, we'll probably get exactly that.

Seriously, I can hardly wait for the *****y Gambit fans (which means probably 93% of his fan base) and all the nitpicks that will follow throughout the next two years...the long debates on how his hair wasn't brown enough or his "chère" seemed so fake on that specific scene, how his trenchcoat doesn't make justice to his comic personna, how "the real" Gambit would never say that line...
Thank God Rogue isn't in the movie, or the internet would explode with raging, *****ing fans of Gambit. Ahhhhh....the pathetic yet entertaining forum-life...

I thought the same, but if Hugh Jackman do it, why Taylor not?

If they signed him for three movies, that's because of something.

Well, Let's start imagine him in X4, hehe:

wolverine doesn't age like gambit does

Can we please stop asking for a reboot. If you're talking about a reboot in about 10 to 15 years, yeah I can see that. But if you're talking about a reboot in the coming years, forget it. Each movie became more successful than its predecessor. And X3 hasn't even been around for 2 years.

That's the point. And I'm agreed with you.

I want X4, so I preffer Wolverine to not be a success, at least, not like the three x-men movies.

Well I don't want Fox to ever touch X-men again. Ever. Marvel studios should buy back the rights to the characters and let them take a crack at it.

I don't think Wolverine will be a failure and we should not delude ourselves that if it will be they will make another X-men team movie since the previous X-men movies have basically been Wolverine and friends movies anyway. If a Wolverine movie fails to bring in the cash, they will simply think that the regular public has moved on, and since they don't care about comic book fans, they will move on too.

Well, I have no interest in seeing a Wolverine trilogy. Yep, I know it probably will be successful (for the reason I said before, they are finally taking the time to make a good movie), but...I just don't wanna see Wolverine and his adventures forever and ever. Hugh is a great actor and all, but no...just no.
I never bought a Wolverine comic, I like the X-men, the team...

It's like me watching the Harry Potter movies. No matter how wonderful the films are, how many Oscars it wins, they just don't interest me enough to see them.

I think this summer is going to set the bar much higher for comic movies then ever before. With Ed Norton as the Hulk, Heath as the Joker, even Iron Man might be good! With someone of Ed's calibur steping into the Hulk film, if it does well, who knows who we will see in the next X-Men movie! i personally can't wait.

lol. You're all borderline delusional! It's like you're trying so hard to turn this into some kind of another cheapshot at FOX! WTF? Cheap marketing ploy? Sure, okay. If you say so... :o Jeez.

These are the people who wait to sue WB over Watchmen just so they can halt production. These are the people who ban YouTube users because they dare to upload fanvids using their property. These are the people who canceled Firefly.

But using a Marvel character as a cheap marketing ploy? NEVAH!

The guy is cute, that's for sure...but...
I was something like that this morning when i found out :wow::wow::wow:

I think i will stick to the comics (the 616 timeline) for ever... There we can have ways of undoing the damage...:csad:

Why do you think they're adding Gambit then? Because he's a necessary character on the Wolverine storyline? Because they care about us fans? Sure...

there may never be an X4. The producers know fans want to see gambit and this seems like the best opportunity.

I know there won't be an X4...I just don't see this as the right oppotunity. I know I'm in a vast minority here, but I'd prefer no Gambit at all than this.

Adding Remy is as simple as more boxoffice/more money for them.

Pure and simple.

Those who don't see this don't know how the studios work, specially Fox.

They finally realize that "Gambit" sells. The producers have a feeling the Wolverine movie MIGHT be an Epic fail, so they brought in Gambit to attract more viewers.

At this point i don´t even care about marketing ploys anymore and wether Gambit belongs in a Wolverine film. I´m just happy he´s in and i hope they do him justice. Come on, you are a Gambit fan right? Would you really prefer no Gambit at all than Gambit in a Wolverine movie? I would have liked to see him in a X-4 too but nobody knows when and if that movie will ever happen. Plus there is no Rogue in this movie so Gambit really gets to be his own character. On top of that, there may be a Wolverine/Gambit fight :woot:
