World Official Goblin Appreciation Thread - Part 1

Absolutely. Both Norman and Peter use their alter egos as a means of emotional release. Peter gets to be the funny quipster as Spider-Man, and Norman gets to indulge his darker nature as the Green Goblin.

That was something I thought of as well. Norman Osborn uses the physical disguise of the Green Goblin to be who he really is anonymously, just as Peter Parker lets loose with his smart-ass nature behind the mask of Spider-Man.

It's speaking to me:
"I will haunt your dreams, destroy you and everything you love...Oh, sorry, I have the wrong address. Do you know where I can find Peter Parker?"

Does anyone else want Norman to go back to being a Spider-Man centric villain. This post-Avengers Osborn doesnt interest me nearly as much as the old Norman Osborn.

Good!

This new Norman seems like a Lex Luthor clone. An evil businessman in a suit of armor. I miss the Goblin costume and the mind games with Spidey. World domination via a bunch of C list lackies? Feh!

Agreed!

Actually, Norman has always used and abused C list lackies. That's not so terrible. I really dont mind him taking on other heroes besides Spider-Man, either. Its good for variety. But the world domination part and leading a team, that bugs me.

World domination was always Ock's schtick. Norman always wanted to become a crime lord for some reason. A Bigger scope isn't always better, ruling the world could get messy, ruling a city would be much more focused. One of the things that made him Peter's greatest enemy was the fact that he knew who Spidey was under the mask...with that knowledge gone, how would they re-establish his vendetta against Peter? Gobby to Norman is what Batman is to Bruce Wayne (another business man who dresses up as something you could associate with halloween)...Yeah, he needs to get back in the purple and green.

I'm just glad that people are able to learn that Peter is Spider-Man again. Things can be made right.

Agreed. Though, I love where norman is at currently, it would be great if he returned to his old ways.

Although I don't like Norman's new direction either, he's not a Luthor clone. After all, Norman was doing the crooked businessman deal since his introduction, while Luthor was still in green and purple pijamas. :cwink:

The Norman of old? True. Not the post-Secret War Osborn.

Love these two a ton, can't believe I've never seen that awesome John Romita Sr. commission.

Speaking of Romita Sr., here are some great pages and panels of his Norman and Green Goblin.

I think all of the ladies attentions towards Norman in that pic are a little twisted.
