Haven't really seen him in anything (though I am anticipating "Sons of Arnarchy") but as far as looks go I'm just going to give him an okay.

I dunno. I only started reading Green Arrow once Kevin Smith started writing it up to now whoever's writing (I collect my books in trade) so maybe at some point in his career Oliver Queen was supposed to be this super young pretty boy (the suggestions remind me of Tom Welling in that while they may be old enough they look increeeedibly young. Much like Brandon Routh who I didn't feel was right for Superman anyway). I always had the impression that both him and Hal Jordan were actually older and more experienced than Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent so I can't help but envision older looking actors.

Anyone know how Ollie gained his wealth anyway? Bruce Wayne inherited his and he still looks like this young punk to his staff so if Ollie actually worked hard for his money I don't think he'd be this rich multibillionaire too early in his age. It's why I had such an easy time buying Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. This needs to be a man (Oliver Queen) who's so involved with himself and his money over the years that he's even become a bit jaded about it until he ends up stranded on the island and gets a serious wake up call.

But I haven't read Year One yet so maybe the interpretation there is totally different.

I wanna see Ollie and Black Canary the way that they were on JLU and The Batman. Meaning, as far as their personalities. I don't think we need to see him as a father in this one, yet.

Charlie Hunnam?

This is who I want for Iron Fist

See I can totally see him as Iron Fist. That's good thinking.

Ollie's life before being stranded on the island is basically him being a real embodiment of the Bruce Wayne character. He got his family's money young and acted recklessly but unlike Batman it wasn't an act and he didn't have anybody like Lucius Fox watching over him to make sure the business actually did well; he ended up loosing Queen Industries rather quickly that way.

Ah. Well then that's what I'd like to see. Someone that's almost like Bruce Wayne's blonde doppleganger except much more intelligent. Can't really think of many people right now besides the ones that I've already suggested but I always did like that Green Arrow was supposed to "Batman Light".

And yeah I've been really into this thread after reading my Green Arrow books over again. Man, does this guy and his family deserve at least one movie.

The current writer is Judd Winnick. He was on the Real World.

I recommend you read Denny O' Niel's Green Arrow/Green Lantern run and Mike Grell's Green Arrow run. They're incredible takes on the character.

Will do. I just got to read "Crawling Through The Wreckage", "Road To Jericho" and "Road To The Alter" this week so I'm gonna need something to quench my Arrow thirst for a while.:oldrazz: Figured I'd get those as well as "Longbow Hunters" and "For Better or Worse" to catch up on the history.

You're going to LOVE Longbow Hunters.

I wouldn't use "intelligent" to describe Ollie. He's not dumb but he's quite hardheaded and often just barrels into things. I hope they don't lose his big mouth which is a pretty fun aspect of the character.

Edit: Now that I think about it, with that description what about Colin Ferguson?

While I haven't actually seen any of his work so I can't judge from an acting perspective, physically he does fit the bill. :up"

And I want to see Bruce Wayne (Bale) at least cameo in a Green Arrow movie since apparently Clark Kent cameos in Green Lantern. I would just love for this scene to play out where they're at this press confrence, Bruce shows up with these women on both arms and all while shaking hands and grinning for the cameras they're saying

Ollie: Laying on the boozing playboy bit a little thick now aren't we?
Bruce: Shut up.
Ollie: Seriously. You smell like a penthouse in vegas at 4 A.M. I'm betting that's at least 25-year-old Scotch that you slapped on like aftershave. What a waste.
Bruce: Okay. I'm done.
Ollie: Hey...I was kidding.

I love colin's work in eureka not to sure if he would be best for ollie. But he is a good actor.

I love Eureka - Ferguson's performances are a big contributing factor to that.

I actually think he'd be able to pull off Ollies dry, sarcastic wit with ease; couple that with his ability to be an authorititive ass-kicker when needed and that he has the right physical attributes, make him a candidate in my book.....

...........MM is still my top pic at the moment though.

Has all the attributes needed for Ollie in spades and is more of a marquee name than most suggested for the role.

This is the one role that I think McConaughey is good for (when it comes to comic books anyway).
now that's inspired casting. he's perfect for Oliver Queen the same way Bale was for Bruce Wayne.
one problem though: doesnt McConaughey and Bale hate each others' guts? got into a real life scrap on that Reign of Fire set. i cant see them working together.

Peter Sarsgaard is a good actor. Nice suggestion. Another name in the hat, Bradley Cooper.

he's got the right look. i havent seen (or remember) any of his work though.

How about Timothy Olyphant?

Long shot: Jason Lewis?

Remember years ago when people were dying to get Woody Harrelson into this role?
Charlie Hunnam?

yes these are good ones. they could actually work in place of McConaughey.

There have been some good picks for GA, so I'll throw in my suggestion:
Kevin McKidd
He has the perfect look of nobility, strength, independence and he looks like he's lived through life enough to know how corrupt and twisted the world can be and that he has reached the limit where he must do something.
Plus he's played an anti-hero as Lucius Vorenus in HBO's ROME, and he played a decent hero (better than all the heroes in HEROES, IMHO) in NBC's JOURNEYMAN.

i think he's better for Barry Allen/ Flash

That's a really good suggestion.

And the Thomas Hayden Church idea is really growing on me. I'd love to see what he could do with a role like this.

Steel:

Sarsgaard could be a good Guy. He was a great jerk in Wedding Crashers. :D

He's got good range, too. IIRC he was Syndey's best friend in Alias.

To the person that suggested Timothy Olyphant for Green Arrow, I got an idea. How about Merlyn instead (even if I really do like the Deadshot suggestion. :woot:)?

If they go old for Green Arrow like I hope they should probably take a similar route with Merlyn.

So maybe Kim Coates who makes an excellent bad guy IMO

or Nick Chinlund who is also a really good bad guy

Both are very good choices. I can't even decide which one I like more.

Funny enough both of them remind me of Dr. Light as well. Now there's a character we need to see in a movie. Don't know who's movie but definitely A movie.

Doctor Light would probably show up in a Justice League movie if ever at all

If we're going older, I always thought Sean Bean would be a good choice. It would be nice to see him play a good guy for once.

Yeah, it would, but he's a little subdued for Ollie for my tastes. He'd make a better Aquaman or even Hawkman.
