I always thought Jean Reno could make a good Sinestro, but he might be a little old now. He could probably pull off a nice Abin Sur.

I was just talking about Guy Gardner over on the DC Comics boards, and it got me thinking. Should we be thinking of casting Guy Gardner, since he cameos in the first film?

I always thought Michael Rapaport would make a great Guy, the right look, the right voice, everything. But these days Mike's looking like the years are catching up on him.

Oh man, he'd be an awesome Gardner! The years are catching up to him though :(

:csad: Yeah, but doesn't this just scream Guy?

i dont know much on the guy character but those choices are good. And i would think if the gl folks are serious looking to make it be a trilogy and other gls taking over in future films they would want to find the right people for the cameo roles and sign them to a deal off the bat to appear as said characters in future sequels.

We won't see Guy's face. Just his back. He'll be wearing a coach jacket with "Gardner" written on it.

That could change easily, they could give him a line, and we see his face briefly as he yells something.

I'll be posting my revised casting choices soon :)

I don't think so. We'd end up having another Kitty Pryde situation.

The problem with Colm Feore is that he's generally bad luck to sci-fi movies.

Chronicles of Riddick. Paycheck.

Any updates on casting and/or production progress?

^The silence is deafening, but thor has nothing going on either so i'm still holding out hope.

Again, I think the SAG issue is keeping some of the bigger-budget flicks from entering production (in case of an actors' strike). You see a lot of low-budget flicks or big films with short shooting schedules start up, but hardly anything that might involve extensive visual effects work and long schedules.

The only big-budget flicks that have already started production (or will in the near future) is Tin Tin and Iron Man 2. If the studios still want to lock in potential big-budget hits for summer 2010, they'd better get cracking soon.

hopefully things are still moving well for gl i so want to see it make it on the screen and not fall into hell like all other dc character projects are currently.

SAG and the Studios are meeting next week, so progress may get made on getting a contract. Or not, but at least they're talking again.

Probably not going to be some huge, revelatory piece, nor is it going to enlighten the world like discovering Dead Sea Scrolls, but I found this to be some exciting news on some level...

Tales of the Black Freighter & Under the Hood DVD Details!

Warner Home Video has released the DVD and Blu-ray Disc covers for Watchmen: Tales of the Black Freighter & Under the Hood, coming to stores on March 24. Here is how the studio describes the release:

They're in the book. And on this disc. From the director of Watchmen and 300 come two tales from the celebrated graphic novel that do not appear in the extraordinary Watchmen Theatrical Feature. Tales of the Black Freighter (featuring the voice of 300's Gerard Butler) brings to strikingly animated life the novels richly layered story-within-a-story, a daring pirate saga whose turbulent events may mirror those in the Watchmen's world. Stars from the Watchmen movie team in the amazing live-action/CGI Under the Hood, based on Nite Owl's powerful first-hand account of how the hooded adventurers came into existence. Two fan-essential stories. One place to watch the excitement. Watching the Watchmen begins here.

The DVD and Blu-ray also include the features "Story Within A Story: The Books of Watchmen" and "A First Look at Green Lantern."

Unfortunately I believe they are refering to an animated Gl movie that DC is producing. I got pretty excited about that too.
I'm not that worried yet, but I really hope we hear something about this movie soon. I want to see it in 2010, not 2011. We still have the NY comic con coming next weekend that might get some details out there. I think GL has a big panel there if I'm not mistaken.
I don't think WB would ever announce GL AT the convention, but maybe a day or two before in the trades and give more info at the convention. That is my hope, but I'm not holding my breath with WB/DC. IMO, outside of geoff johns books, DC is a mess.

Animated might not be horrific, tho. If it IS about the live action, I suspect it will be 30 seconds of Berlanti sitting in front of a poster of GL, holding a costume sketch, talking about how he is a fan and happy to be working on a film like this... and Lantern fans will be cursing at their TVs when the clip ends after showing/saying nothing relevant...

Hope its more than that, but who knows.

Since GL is supposedly the next DC animated DTV, I would imagine it's referring to that.
