Doctor Jones, I hate to be the spelling police, but it's Hal Jordan, not Jordon for your sig.

Darth is a masochist

Fact.

Of course I've talked about things that it turned out I didn't like. That's beside the point. What is on point is that I've never spent time talking about something I have no interest in seeing.

Anyway, you're not worth talking to. 'Bye now.

That is the ****ing point. Good God, please keep up your promise of not talking to me. Jesus I mean some people on here are real ****ing "special".

Why the hell do people think this won't get made? They have a leading man, director, four drafts of a script and they need a tentpole film and another DC franchise with a big budget. Everythiing is in place, everything seems confident enough to get moving. It's in January sure, but it's pre production. And it's even better. The more time means the more they can make a better film and screenplay. It's better for this than to plunge into it.

Yeah, they'll shut down a major film like this all of a sudden when they need a WB summer movie for 2011. How smart.

It's the WB.

It's the WB.

They've aborted a lot of big projects....Superman Lives, Justice League Mortal, they alienated both David Goyer and Joss Whedon...Whedon said he had never worked in an environment where people just didn't give a **** about the project (this was when he left after working on the Wonder Woman script)

Talking about a movie you were interested in but ended up disliking is very different from spending time talking about a movie you have no interest in seeing. Anyone who can't distinguish between the two is perhaps the kind of "special" person they like to allude to in the midst of their bluster.

BUt those were just in devlopment. They never really got past the casting stage. And besides, they're more confident here with this. Everything's in swing so far.

Like I said, Batman 3 doesn't come out till 2012 they have nothing for summer 2011. They need something, and GL has potential for a franchise which means more money. That's what it all comes down to for a studio. They're not gonna throw it away. Think about it.

I ask again....Why does it matter???

I think it's because the spectre of JLA:Mortal looms large over this (and all other planned DC projects) in a big way.
The way that movie seemed to implode made fanboys all around the world a lot wearier about "Go-projects"...
That movie more than any other showed us that a movie can have a director, a script, a cast and shooting date and STILL not happen.

Not to mention rehearsals, costumes, costume fittings, sets in the process of being built, etc. JLM was way into production when it got shelved.

Again, you never talked about anything you weren't interested in? You must be a real bore at parties.

Having a conversation at a party about something you aren't interested in is different then going to a forum, finding a thread and posting numerous times (voluntarily) about something you 'have no interest in'.

Exactly. I've done the former, never done the latter.

Yup. I'm still feeling quietly optimistic about this, though.

Darth said he has no interest in seeing the movie. He is interested in who is getting what role and various other production info. Somehow I think he is in the right place to discuss and get info about who is being CASTED in what role seeing as this is the Green Lantern Casting thread,......I could be horribly wrong though

This movie is gonna get done! With a Superman film in the phatom zone (in a way) and a Batman film years away. I have much confidence in this film, and we are gonna get a great, serious film. I have so much confidence in this film I put it in my sig.

He posted that clarification after my initial comment, whereafter he challenged my comment by saying he thought I would have done the same thing, which I rebutted. If he wants to see who's cast as Green Lantern, despite his indifference to the film, he's free to.

For God's sakes, Justice League Mortal was a pre-STRIKE movie; they were rushing that thing out and they were supposedly p*ssing off Nolan with their new version of batman. I just think it's a bad example to use. Heck, I think the Brad Pitt movie Moneyball is a better example of studio politics interfering.

Other than that, WB NEEDS another SUPERHERO franchise pronto and I think they learned their lesson ESPECIALLY with Marvel's new slate of movies. It's that simple.

DC needs WB to start cranking out CBFs to stay viable in the film world...WB has been around a long time, they don't need CBFs

True, Warners has a lot of film properties beyond DC - which is why they aren't always in as much of a hurry to utilize those characters as most fans would like - but their DC properties are a very important part of their intellectual property that they can adapt into tentpole films.

To me it's just to stay relevant in the eyes of the public and fanboys I think. If Pepsi started to make a bunch of movies, then obvious Coke should follow suit.

WB doesn't need comic book films, but hey, if they can make a profit out of it, then yes, I think friendly competition is in order.

Hmmm...I agree, but WB has a way of always having some sort of profitable film series to see them through....the Lethal Weapon films, Harry Potter, if you want to talk pure profit....they spent 65 million on Sex and the City and it made $450 million....

WB owns a lot of properties. Some most people wouldn't even think of. Look at Cartoon Network/Adult Swim, plus all the Hanna-Barbera cartoons and shows those channels have had over the years...Time Warner owns all that ****. I'm like Simmons in ROTF...I would plead on my knees for them to make a live action Megas XLR.

Usually people lie when they say "I'm not gonna see it".

And if they already made up their mind about a movie, then that's their problem
