Yeah. Other than Christopher Reeve, Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, Wesley Snipes, Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Brandon Routh, Brandon Lee. You want to keep going.
Keaton-Too short(but still great)
Jackman-way too tall

etc

and im not talking about those, did you see the others considered for GL?

TheVileOne. You know what, judging by your track record, I'm suddenly upset. How do you predict these things so well?

Didn't you say Hollywood wasn't good at casting supheroes? Damn, I really need reading glasses. I've been ****ing up a lot lately.

lol, not sure, i might have said tha,t but i didnt mean it, but sometimes their choices are horrible(like most of FF, and dunst as MJ etc..)

I think it's about 50/50, but for some reason they can't seem to get the female characters right. Other than Michelle Pfeiffier and, maybe, Famke Janssen.

For John Stewart GL, what about Idris Elba. He has the look and acting chops to pull of Stewart imo.

ya i agree. i think those were the only 2 that worked properly

Because it's my business to know these things. I live in Hollywood too. I'm in the thick of it.

'Nuff said.

I agree! Common would be a good choice for Green Lantern!

Why Common seriously?I don't understand what they're thinking with clueless casting like that.

I'd rather see Isaiah Washington or Michael Jai White as Jon.

The actor should not be bigger than the character. That's what Gregory Noveck said. Common is a relative unknown and the studios like what he did in "Smokin Aces" and "American Gangster". That is why.

yeah Common has a really good look for John Stewart, and from the few roles i've seen him, he has the gravitas too.

i'd say they were damn lucky to find Common. its like finding Bale for Batman, and Reeve for Superman.

Michael Jai White all the way. He's got the look, he doesn't have to bulk up and his voice is deep and commanding.

...and he is SPAWN! lol

seriously tho,he did the GL voice in the game "Justice league heroes" and was very good-more suitable than Phil in the cartoons i thought

Probably because MJW has a cool voice normally, while Phil has to pitch his waaaaay down to get John (on the Season 2 DVD, he says that when he saw the character drawing, he figured John needed a deep voice to go with his huge chest:woot: )

Columbus Short Turns Down Green Lantern
Source: MTV October 30, 2007

Smart move or dumb move? Actor Columbus Short tells MTV he turned down the role of Green Lantern in George Miller's Justice League at Warner Bros., which we assume also includes the Greg Berlanti-directed spin-off Green Lantern:

"'Justice League' is going to be dope, it's going to be huge," grinned the fast-rising star, before dropping a second bomb: "But it's not the movie for me."

That's right - Columbus Short has not only been considered for "Justice League", but has already turned the filmmakers (including director George Miller) down cold. In joining the ranks of Biel and who knows how many others, Short said that he ultimately decided the script was too much popcorn for his taste.

You'll have to click the link above to see why he made this decision.

Is this good news or bad news?

Sounds like he didn't want to be typecasted. I think popcorn the the context he gave meant silly and it didn't fit the career path that he wanted to take.

I saw Columbus Short in "Stomp the yard" and "You got served" so how popcorn can you get. The movies were alright, the kid can act and he looks like a young John Stewart but JLA would have been a big step up for him w/ a possible spin off (even if you were not the main GL in the spinoff). Sometime you have to put your artistic morality to the side and make that money and get your face out there for those artistically oscar worthy films

A mother****er that starred in Stomp the Yard and You Got Served is calling Justice League too popcorn? Some of these actors are getting a tad too big for their britches. I'm sure we can all say "yay, now we can get a REAL actor" but if B and C-listers are calling it fluff, wtf are the real actors saying?

I'm begining to think that he's just crying sour graps because he wasn't picked for the role just like CZJ did way back when with Wonder Woman. I find it unlikely that he got a chance to read the script to know that it was a "popcorn" role.

yeah, he was most likely shot down

btw, since the new GL movie is with hal, here's my choices:

JensenAckles2007Comicon.jpg

as Hal Jordan

Evangeline_Lilly-D.jpg

as Carol Ferris

Hugo_Weaving.jpg

as Sinestro
