6/10 for me
didn't hate it. will smith rocks.

my biggest ish is the main baddie ? is he? or is the virus?
cuz it seemed that there was a head to the vamps, the one that set a trap for neville...
who was this character? why was he in charge? did smith capture his gf and he got pissed?
too many holes in this one, though i was entertained.

"i'm supposed to shoot the bus driver" was worth my $14

In the book the main baddie is his neighbor Ben Cortman. Throughout the book Ben challenges Robert to come outside. So that's who I think the head vamp was, a way loose translation on Ben.

I guess this movie did extremely well in the box office. It made 76.5 million this weekend! Of course that's just estimates, but it's #1 at the box office! I'll probably see this movie next weekend. I got finals this week.

Please do not take box office as the same as a good review...Let say Norbit did very well at the box office and it s a pure crap!

I never took it as a good review. But regardless of what other people say around here, I'd like to see it for myself. I know it's different from the book, but it still looks like a good action flick.

A great deal of the book is actually just Neville researching the virus. It goes into great detail about the virus.

Sweet, I think I might give it a read then

That is incorrect. In the book, the cause of vampirism is bacterial infection, not a virus.

In the book, it is both because it contradicts itself. He states it is a bacteria, then goes on to say it's type is a bacteriophage (which is a virus).

*salivates from all the micro talk*

I wasn't aware those things were supposed to be vampires. Hmm.

don't expect too much action but theres a good amount of it in the movie

See, I thought the book would probably go into more detail and you didn't believe me! :cmad::cmad::o

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and definitely want to read the book

I could have watched another hour of Will trying to keep his sanity, the action wasn't really the strong point for me as it had a lot of Hollywoodisms in it as did the ending (imo) looking at
his suicide it didn't occur to me till after th movie that he could have just tossed the grenade and hid in the hidey hole with them but emotionally Robert was done he had lost his Family and his best friend (Sam) and completed his purpose (finding a cure for the virus) I don't think he had the will to keep going after that so from a character arc it made sense

in dealing with his primary physical adversary I enjoyed the fact that the main creature (we're gonna call him Roary for ease of understanding) had a story told entirely in subtext
in case you didn't catch it they actually went with the Robert is a monster line in that; the last creature he grabbed was Roary's mate and seeing as how Roary was the alpha male of the Hive in that area (and I assume the group that Robert snatched all his experiments from). He was over Robert. He stalked and trapped Robert and was trying to kill him for what he had done to his pack.

I gave it a 7 out of 10 because of unnecessary CGI, overly Hollywoodized action sequences and a Super Hollywood ending that pretty much invalidated the majority of the advertising for the film.

Will's performance however was top notch and well worth the trip to the Theatre

oh and as for the Bat Supes poster I believe the date was 5/15/10

^I agree about Neville's lack of a will to live being the cause for that totally avoidable ending

why thank you (might wanna spoiler tag that)

I had written out another similar review/explanation but got attacked by a virus and had to do some quick foot work this one was nearly as good... I gotta give a slow clap fo them not spoon feeding us the Roary story...

Was there ever a sequal to the book? Also I liked the film but was annoyed at the fact that the hybrid vamps were never used AT ALL, I was waiting for that chick to flip and be a vamp. Also I was just waiting for the Ben Cortman say "Neville, come out neville"!!!! Also question in the book weren't they in a coma by day all the time? Even if they were in darkness?

I'm sure alot of that 76 million came from fanboys going just to watch the Batman trailer.
