Ahhh to the folks who expected this movie to be like the book..HELLO have you been in a coma for the past 50 years, this that is how things work in Hollywood, if your a book and movie fan YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS. I read the book, and yet i knew what would happen I liked it, and i had no problem with the ending at all so he became a legend to the ppl instead of the darks, it made since. The only problem i had with it was they should have used less CGI, and the movie was to short. I gave it a 8. Oh btw ANTOINE X please stop posting my IQ shrinks whenever i read your posts.

Hey guys quick random question, just started reading this thread so not sure if it was asked already...

What was it that Will Smith sprayed on his front porch before entering his house before it got dark?

At first I thought it was something flammable as a defense measure, but then I thought of it being something to mask the scent. When he is shown doing this was it when he was returning with the captured female darkseeker? If so he could have been worried about the other infected being able to follow her scent.

He did that before he took the girl home, it was the first time he came home that they showed us. I agree with the assumption that it was a bleach solution or a disinfectant to hide his scent.

It was vinegar I think. In one of the scenes I noticed large bottles of vinegar in the background that looked like they were the same type of container that held the liquid he poured on his steps.

The whole movie was about Smiths character losing his mind the mannequin head moving,talking to the mannequins, Smith stating that the Darks aren't intelligent which turned out they were hence the trap, using the dogs etc...and of course the death of Sam which pretty much drove him over. The only thing that kept him going was finding a cure, and when he found it he knew the Darks wouldn't stop unless he died, he had nothing left.

Love it/hate it, it's worth at least one viewing due to Will Smith's performance.

Overall I Am Legend was a good movie....
I did expect it to be a little longer.

Smith's performance wasn't Oscar-worthy but was very good *probably one of Smith's top 3 movies"

if any complaints about the plot/story would be the ending... I didn't like it... it kinda felt like it was just pushed on me.

I give it a 4.5/5 highly encourage people to see it

most people don't like it because it wasn't that much similar to the book, just check out, i read the book and also seen the movie, and i still liked the movie

I liked it, but I read an article about how AT THE LAST MINUTE, that all of the monsters (in costume/make-up) were redone in CGI.

Why? This movie has terrible CGI (besides the abbandon New York). Oh I see...Sony Imageworks..that explains everything!

The only negative reviews I've read were from fans of the book who expected the film to be exactly the same. It's a great film with a few minor flaws. And I've read the book.

Sony imageworks aint the greatest, i agree. It'd be cool if they had the original version on the dvd.

.... I didn't like the climax/ending..

I think that Neville should have survived, then that would set up a sequel.. I didn't like that he had to end up sacrificing himself..

he dies in the book also. except, in the book, the infected have a more intelligent society and they look at Neville as a monster for hunting them down.....therefor, he's looked at as a legend amongst the vampire community.


at the end of the book, Neville gets captured and is given some pills to ease his pain while they execute him.

I don't expect it to be exactly the same as the book. However, I've heard that the ending of the film totally misses the point of the title of the book, which to me would be the equivalent of making the "Lord of the Rings" -trilogy and having the lord of the rings be someone else than Sauron. Or make a "Jurassic Park" adaptation where "Jurassic Park" is not a reference to a park with dinosaurs.

I don't expect an adaptation of "I Am Legend" to be exact, but at least they can get the reference to the title right, especially if it was one of the stronger "punches" in the novel. Don't you think?

On a side note....some people complain that this was more of a remake of Omega man than it was I am Legend. I for one hoped it would be more like Omega man. Heston was way more bad ass than Smiths Neville IMO

^ Then they should've adapted another story, or made an original one. You don't make "I Am Legend" without that ending, just as you don't make a movie about the Holocaust ending with all the Jews surviving and being just peachy.

I'm sure it's an entertaining, well acted flick, but without the ending it's not "I Am Legend".

supposedly a more faithful ending had been shot, but was nixed because they feared too many people would be depressed by the ending.




which is kinda stupid because the premise of I Am Legend is depressing itself. Children of Men didn't sacrifice a depressing ending for a more hopeful one and look how great that movie was.

The Mist had a downer ending and that was okay. I thought it worked for the movie.
