Normally I agree with what Ebert has to say for the most part, but yeah, that's really bad.

Does anyone actually have a link of Will Smith saying that the original ending was more like the book?

Saw this movie last night. Wow, it rocked my socks off! Well at least the first hour or so anyway. The feel of desolation and isolation in NYC was downright amazing. And that part in the dark building was absolutely awesomely terrifying, with the way that was shot and cut! Haven't been that freaked in a long time!

And the dog was awesome. Who says dogs aren't human?! That dog acted almost as good as Smith, who I was pleasantly surprised by as well. That dog brought tears to my eye more than once! :o :(

Did anyone read Ebert's review of I Am Legend? I think his ailments have finally caught up with him. Her eis Ebert's direct quote....

In "I Am Legend," the situation raises questions of logic. If Neville firmly believes he is the last healthy man alive, who is the vaccine for? Only himself, I guess. Fair enough, although he faces a future of despair, no matter how long his cans of Spam and Dinty Moore beef stew hold out; dogs don't live forever.

I absolutely loved every minute of the movie. IMO this is one of Will Smith best 3 performances. The movie had you on the edge of your seat one minute and in tears the next. The whole scope of the film was captured brilliantly by Lawrence, this was a definately better then Constantine IMO, and I thought that was good.

I loved the interaction that Will and Sam had.
She was truly his best friend, you could see his heartbreak
when she got attacked and infected
. My girlfriend was balling when Will had to kill the dog, real sad moment.

As for the ending it didn't really bother me at all, what did people want to happen?

I hope this doesn't get lumped in as a action or a horror film cause it's truly more then that. I truly loved it, and I hope it keeps its crown at the box office!

What was the original movie ending?

In the original book ending:

Neville gets captured by people who are infected but are able to keep the infection somewhat at bay. Since they look the same as the monsters he's been killing, he had been killing them as well. He realizes before he dies that he is no longer normal. Infected people are normal, and that to them, he is a monster. A creature that mothers will tell stories about to scare their children. He is the thing that goes bump in the night and the boogeyman under their bed. He is Legend.

Just got done seeing this. Outstanding performance by Will Smith. The man is amazing and to everyone who boo/hissed at him getting the lead role on this, to hell with you. He made this movie. I can't even picture anybody else in the lead role for this movie...his charisma keeps you captivated.

CGI people/zombies/infected? :down to that. It really took me out of the movie. They could have just used CGI for certain parts...but whenever they were on screen, I felt as if I were watching The Mummy all over again. So boo/hiss to that.

I will read the book now and am motivated to watch The Last Man on Earth...hopefully I'll love those two versions as well. But I'm definitely going to see this again and buy the DVD when it comes out...which hopefully will contain the original, more faithful ending.

Is that the ending that they originally shot, and Will was pissed they didn't keep?

Saw this last night, it was great. The part where

He sees Fred, or Frank or whatever standing there was spooky as hell. :o An saying hello to the woman for his fallen friend. :csad:

And all the little crazy things in his life were great. I agree with what many have already said, was it really necessary to have everything be 100% CGI? The ending was fine, I guess, but the CGI zombies seemed extremely pointless. Just so their mouth could open more wide?:csad:

I shed a few tears at those parts:csad:

I was just reading that Will orginally wanted Del Toro to direct

finally saw it yesterday...i thought it was pretty good. it got really sad when
samantha died
,people were screaming
"not sam..no"

When he had his breakdown moment with fred was when i really felt sad for him, just a good movie

the only bad thing about the movie was sitting through that stupid "batman trailer"..the joker, bah, he looks like a joke

People in the theater laughed when he was saying hello to her. I was like; :waa:
they just don't care that Will was in a realing wanting a friend after his dog died. I felt so sad for Will.

I saw the movie last night, real good I thought. Thats why Will is my favorite actor!

If a more faithful ending was shot, then maybe there'll be a director's cut? I hope so.
