Still on the fence about watching this...
Well yeah, I can't argue there. It's like a day and night difference between the novel.
I guess it's just one of those love it/hate it films.
I was disappointed in this film. I thought will smith did a great job acting wise. But just the way the film turned out and the ending could of been so much better.
Don't make fun of my illiteracyGo. Especially since you haven't read the book. It'll be easier for you to just experience it for what it is.

seems as if that everyone who read the book (I included) were dissapointed, but those who didn't liked it.

Anyway....for those wondering where all the money went into making the movie....Did you NOT notice they closed off Times Square and other areas of NYC to make this. That alone must have cost millions to shut down a area like that.

I read the book and loved it. I definitly think they should have been more faithful to it. The one thing I was looking foward to was seeing Ben Cortman saying "Neville" outside his house. Also I really wish they had had the part where he burned down the houses next to him. That was really smart of Neville. I wish they had gone more detail about the virus for instance in the book it explains the crosses thing which was awesome and the garlic and all that stuff. Def. should have included that stuff.
), and i usually HATE deviations from the original novels, but i really enjoyed this movie. Maybe it was Will's acting, i dont know, but my family and i had a good time, so mission acomplished...exactly...i loved everything up until the last 5 minutes. the ending felt forced, rushed, and empty imo.
The way the movie did the story defeats the purpose of calling it I AM LEGEND.
Instead they gave it the Omega Man ending.
Matheson hasn't liked a single film version made of his book yet. I hope one day they make one he would be proud of.
Unfortunately they filmed the ending like, two or three weeks ago because the studio didn't like the original ending they filmed during filming eary this year.
So, yeah, it's tacked-on. It was filmed more than a half year after the rest of the film was.
That's funny though because from what I've heard, he gave this film his "blessing" so to speak.
His recent story in EW says nothing of the sort. And I'm not sure why that would be true since all this movie is, at the end of the day is a big budget update of Omega Man than a more faithful version of his book.
Oh and the "Oscar worthy" performance from Smith.

that pisses me off. i hate when studios interfere with artistic creativity. i guess Warner Brothers is forgetting the lesson B&R taught them. hopefully those @$$holes will keep their stupid ideas to themselves regarding Nolan's Batman series.
I guess the few people who stated that were full of it then lol. If anybody reads this and can fully prove/disprove it go ahead.
Yeah, it was too similar to Omega Man except for the infected not having much consciousness and not being able to talk. I did enjoy it up until that dumb lady and the kid appeared. I for some reason can't stand that, I wanted the movie to be completely about him and his struggle with his sanity.
