I'm going to try and say this in the nicest possible way - you have no idea what you are talking about.

It might be an exaggeration but he's not far off. I don't think it was a "franchise killer" in the strictest sense of the word, but clearly Sony was not buying Raimi's take on Spider-man 4 and they were quick to pull the plug and reboot the franchise.

Both TDKR and IM3 have their flaws but if I had to watch one it would definitely be the latter.

RT 79%, average rating 7/10, metacritic 66%

Now I don't feel so bad about not being excited for this movie.

So I've been going over the last few pages, I cannot believe some people are actually preferring IM2 over IM3.

I'm not one of those, but you can't knock people's personal preferences. IM2 is a fun movie

hasn't even been released in the USA yet.. those figures could still go either way by a lot.

Spider Man was always going to come back quickly though, regardless of whether it was film 4 or a reboot. If you want to be technical you can say it killed the Raimi-verse SM, but even then that's debatable given SM4 was green lit. He was comparing it to Batman and Robin which was absurd.

WTF happened to the RT score?

Only about 120-130 reviews to go. This movie will probably settle around 75-85%

The truth? :cwink:

Iron Man Rusts Away
"The villains are really bad, The women are pretty, and Robert Downey suffers through a weak plot. The movie is stolen by a boy and an old man is small but critical rolls. ( I won't be a spoiler ). I would rather my explosions and fireworks in the sky be enjoyed with a hot dog and coke at the 4th of July than be deafened by a 10,000 watt Dolby surround system in a very nice theatre. At least we get to see it before the USA in Singapore. Thank God there won't be an Iron Man 4. Singapore Bill"

Priceless hahahaha

I rated it a 7 myself. But I almost always change my rating on subsequent viewings... sometimes up, sometimes down. Haven't seen it a second time yet.

7.5 for me and I certainly will be curious to see how I feel after a second viewing. The tone was different than I expected, so I'll have to see how I feel about it now that I know what to expect in that regard.

I'm curious myself. That's a HUGE gulf between American and international critics...seems to be a trend among comic book movies, in fact. I know Thor had a similar reception...Cap less so? TDKR too, if I remember correctly. Someone should investigate this trend!

wow 7.8 now. At this rate when I wake up in the morning and America has seen it it will be 7.1

Whoever gets to see it first gives better reviews :o

Is something about the film maybe hitting a little too close to home for Americans? That's the only thing I can think of to explain the disconnect.

And yeah, there has been an air of arrogance here. Not TDKR level, but quite a bit. It is why posters are being attacked and reviews are being attacked.

You know its bad when a guy who hasnt even seen the movie defends it passionately, while bashing the people who actually did see it because they're critical of it.

I can't help but feel pity for that guy, honestly. Must be sad to go through life so angry at everything.

^ All I can say is...you're better person than me, lol.

BTW, I can't wait to finally give my review on this film.

:funny:

Come on, that seems like more then a stretch.

After looking at the RT reviews, it seems like those I expected to not like it are the ones giving the bad reviews. Seems many were expecting TA-level action and scale and are really dinging the movie for or are arthouse-type film reviewers that were not the target market anyways. Still, the amount of good reviews is still overwhelming the bad ones (6.5 pages of good ones versus 1.5 of bad ones) with still a lot to go.
