Okay, so last night I finally got round to starting on the Knaufs' run, reading Civil War: Iron Man. And tonight I devoured Iron Man: Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. in a single sitting. This stuff is SO freakin' great! The Knaufs are brilliant, and the way they orchestrate the tragedy of Tony Stark losing all those close to him one by one, being king of the world but losing what matters, it just provides some great characterisation.

Furthermore, the arc of the Knaufs' story so far also adds emotional heft to Stark's journey in World's Most Wanted, where you really get the sense that it forms one big cohesive narrative. I really think that if Iron Man had been under the control of a single writer since Extremis - rather than the story being divided between 4 writers and 2 volumes - it could very well have surpassed Ed Brubaker's Captain America in terms of being recognised as Marvel's seminal run of the decade. Though it's a credit to Ellis, the Knaufs and Fraction that, though highlighting different elements of Tony and his world, they've largely been in tune enough with this overarching saga that you believe it could have been the work of a single writer.

Anyhoo, looking forward to reading Haunted next. The Mandarin is an el primo badass.

Knaufs = :awesome:

It's a shame they haven't written anything for Marvel (that I'm aware of) since Eternals got canceled.

Invincible Iron Man #21 Preview

Tony's closest friends and lovers have gathered to try and help the man rebuild his shattered consciousness, body, life and legacy... but when Tony gets the call, does he WANT to come back? CAN he... even with Dr. Strange, Master of the Mystic Arts, bridging the gap between the two worlds? And you didn't think the bad guys were going to just sit back and let Tony rest and recuperate, did you?

Wait, Invincible Iron Man #21 is coming out next week, a mere 2 weeks after #20? Yay! Say what you will about Larroca, but the guy can blast out comics at some speed.

Madam Masque is banging the Hood?

Yes, she's been his moll for quite some time now.

And what is it with Ghost hovering uncomfortably close to Madame Masque, and even phasing into her in one of those panels? Is that the closest he gets to sexual contact?

She was more than happy to leave the Hood for Tony though. But hasn't, as Tony didn't want Madame Crazy Bags.

Its good to see Iron Man's rogue gallery is seeping back into his book.

How in the hell has the Ghost never heard of Broxton, Oklahoma? It's the place where Thor decided to park a giant floating island over it.

He's a corporate saboteur first and foremost. Why would he care what's going on in Hicksville, Oklahoma? Not many cutthroat corporations out there.

He may not care, but since he's in the Thunderbolts I'm sure Asgard has been talked about between members of the team at some point (off panel).

Why? No one on the Thunderbolts is a Thor villain, and from what I've seen in the time I've been reading the series, Mister X and Scourge hate everyone, the Ghost doesn't trust anyone, and there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of intelligent conversation between the likes of the Headsman, Paladin, and Ant-Man.

When the age of heroes starts up again, Zemo needs to come and take his f**king team back.

Personally I'd like to see Zemo that down osborn. The evil guy who by appearances is good getting thrown out by the good guy who by appearances is evil has nice concept to it.

The day Ghost decides to deal with Thor is the day Thor runs a multi-billion dollar business.

That is true, it isn't like ghost couldn't follow thor, find out about blake and then kill blake or anything, right?

He's an assassin, not a fighter. So yeah ghost couldn't ever take thor straight up, but I do think it's possible to sever the connection with blake quite easily.

The Ghost wouldn't even bother. He'd be like, "Wtf? Why do people think I wanna kill Thor?"

He's actually a decent guy underneath his surface *****ery and morally ambiguous methods.

I wanna see Rocket Racoon take down Osborne. To be honest, I'd buy 100 copies of that comic.
