Comics Official NEW EXILES Discussion Thread

I jumped onto Exiles around the time when they found out the
Timebroker was fake
, I hear I missed out on some good stuff.

Yeah. If possible, get a chance to flip through the earlier TBPs, especially those written by Winick. He started and defined the series. Austen's run wasn't all that bad, either, from what I remember reading of it.

I'm tired of Bedard. I'm really tired of Bedard. And I don't know if Claremont's the right person to put on next.

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Here's how Marvel describes the book:
[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"'World Tour: Heroes Reborn,' part 1 of 2. The beginning of the end starts here! The tour of duty is about to reach its earth breaking conclusion! The Exiles track Proteus to the world of Heroes Reborn. Big man-chests and bigger action await them on a world that was never meant to be made!" [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Exiles #81 will be 32 pages and will cost $2.99.

I need to read up on this Heroes Reborn world, sounds interesting.

Why haven't they begun to defrost the "dead" Exiles in the Panoptichron yet?

I too ask this question. Obviously they can be taken out (Deadpool was). After the tragedy of Thunderbird, you'd figure the originals - Blink, Mimic, Morph - would want to have gotten him free of there. ... Wasn't he in the Panoptichron?

I don't think that Bedard's storytelling has been bad - but I have to say that this World Tour really has stretched on so long that to me it's become tedious. Tedious, yes, but I still look forward to reading the book everytime I pick it up. But I also can't help but feel that, with his run coming to an end, Bedard has decided to leave his mark on the book by destroying the original team members.

Which is kinda funny... a year ago, or so, I said that if Blink, Mimic, and/or Morph were ever done away with (this was following TJ's departure), I'd probably drop the book. I haven't - I suppose that's me saying it's being handled well enough.

Just because a character is in the crystal wall at the Panoptichron, doesn't mean they can be revived. Some are just plain dead, hence the reason they took the time to go give Sunfire a proper burial in the reality where she fell in love with that version's Mary Jane. Thunderbird would still be brain dead or whatever afflicted him even if they pulled him out, and the problems would still exist with the others as well.

But doesn't the wall help heal and repair the people in it? Wasn't that the reasoning behind sticking Mimic in there after the fight with Hyperion?

Yeah, I suppose reviving one from the dead is something different, or fixing one's brain.

Right, right. Hadn't thought about that.

Still, they haven't even tried. What the hell is Heather doing up there while they're fighting Proteus.

It was Heather's idea to put the metal in their skulls so Proteus could not possess them. It was her idea to send him to Heroes Reborn world.

Although, I would think they would try to recruit someone who could take down Proteus. Like Collossus or a robot or a Sentinel.

There's a Proletariat version of Colossus frozen in one of the crystals. Not sure what happened to him though. If they could find a version of Cable, that'd be awesome.

That Colossus did die. On further inspection, the only ones who are still alive in the crystal wall are the Weapon X versions of Archangel and Iron Man, who don't seem to be very bent on helping the Exiles as far as I know.

Well, we haven't seen the entire cyrstal wall and anybody could be in there.

They probably wont defrost anyone anyway. If they need someone they'll probably just pluck them out of their own universes.

There is also the matter of time. Can't they go and pick someone like 5 seconds before they die? Since the Crystal Palace is outside time and space they can also move in time, they've only moved in space so far...

Time traveling might be best kept out of this book. It has that circular logic that causes naught but headaches.

Im fairly sure they have time travelled a few times in the earlier missions.

I'm talking about time travel in relation to going back in time to before a member's death (what sebita was talking about - I assume sebita meant to before a prior Exiles' death) and "saving" them, scooping them out and into the future/current present.

That makes for icky complications.

Then that I agree.
