What ever happened to Siskel anyways?

He died:O

I liked him, but he always seemed pompous. Remember I was watching this as a kid, and the fat Ebert was always nicer to the movies I liked.

edit:

He usually likes movies I like. I've never thought he (Ebert) was very film-critic-y if that makes sense. He always seemed like the common man's movie reviewer, which is what I think he has built a rep on. I'm curious to see if he did give it two stars and why, but again...we won't know his actual review until we see it because it's too much speculation and rumor for anything to truly be believed.

I was, honestly, surprised at the amount of homo-erotic undertones the review created out of thin air. I mean, he mentioned something about crotches....and the giant Daily Planet Globe ball when Superman had to catch it. Wtf?

Jibber jabber.
 I don't know man. But the review was very disturbing.

Damn, only 82% on RT :( :down

Thats bad.
when did 82% become bad?

Anyway it's 17 positive vs 3 negative. That's 6-1 in favor of SR. Plus theres 2-3 that will be added for positive making it 86%,

I've already did a review in the Official Review thread. Might as well add some ideas here.

I liked that the movie had heart, more then action. Action makes you like a movie, but the heart is what makes you love the movie. It goes through the entire emotioan spectrum,
You're happy for Superman!
You're proud for Superman!
You pity Superman!
You hate Lex Luthor!
YOU WANT LEX LUTHOR TO DIE THOUSANDS OF TIMES IN THOUSANDS OF HORRIBLE BRUTAL WAYS FOR EVEN THINKING ABOUT HURTING SUPERMAN!!!!!!!
And then you're happy for Superman again. :)
Singer and Routh capture the essence of Superman and that is the best thing. The ending is epic and it leaves you with the good kind of questions:
"What will happen in the future"

There are of course things I don't like. Bosworth's Lois Lane, the fact that
Luthor basically becam a man-****e so he could get money, and Luthor's plot. Land again? :( Kal Penn. What the f**k was Kumar doing in this movie. If you're going to have a cute cult-status indian actor in a movie, give him some freakin lines! Preferably ones that are not delivered through a walkie talkie!

You are right, but for SR it isn't so good. I expect from it about 88%.

Don't worry. Brian Orndorf wrote a very positive review, and they have to add it.

Yeah, also cream of the top is still having 100%

I wasn't expect this from them.

How is that bad? The movie hasn't been released yet. At this point in time it has 10% of what its total sum of reviews will be. 3 negative reviews from obviously biased people hardly constitues a reason to worry.

The theory that WB put under embargo only the "negative reviews" is typical of an hater like you.

its not a theory, its very logical for any company who has a 250 million dollar investment, i would expect the same from Fox or Sony. Use some common sense will you:o

It will be around there, I'm sure. Cream of the crop is 100%, which is great.

Think about what you just said and then reevaluate that "common sense" remark. :)

What is your rate?

I just have a question? What is the big deal with RottenTomatoes? I've heard of them, but I don't know all that much. Why is their rating so important?

9. It was the best movie it could be under the circumstances and I firmly believe it will be a succes.

Wow, sounds like you loved it, I am glad for you.

It is so terrible that I will be able to see it only on July 27th :( :down

Rottentomatoes is "important" because its basically just takes a whole crapload of reviews form every reviewer who has any kind of cred (and some with shakier cred than Bob Doles hand) and they compile it all together into ratings...if that makes any sense...

And it's a popular place to check out movies.

Oh, trust me, I know how that is. I live in Romania and over here we don't get it until 14th july, and that's because I live in Bucharest. In other parts of the country they get it even later then that.
I have a friend who lives in another town and he hates me right now for seeing it when he has to wait more then a month. But I worked for this chance damnit, i wrote a 3 page article about Superman Returns for a friend's magazine and he gave me the chance to go to this sneak preview.
:D

Most of Kumar's stuff was prolly cut. No worries though, he has 'The Namesake'.

I dont know if Luthor was a man-****e. From what I heard he was more of a caretaker for the woman, or at least she thought so. The marriage was clearly a means for the woman to legally transfer the majority of her will to a non-member of the family without creating problems. She was fooled into believing Lex was a caring individual.

I dont know about Bosworth's Lois Lane yet. Personally I havent ever seen a Lois I actually liked, though Ive never seen Noel Neil or Phyllis Coates...I think they would be less annoying than the recent versions.

Caretaker... oh, he was taking care of her alright

"You gave me such pleasures like I've never known". OMG! What a scary visual to start the movie with.
