Not really. It feels like the Donner films, Routh acts like Reeve, there's connections with the previous films. Ebert has every right to compare the two/three. That'd be the case if Nolan went with Burton's style, tone, and similar continuity for Begins.

I expect Returns to be superior to STM for one simple reason: absence of cheese. The cheese factor in STM can be broken down into two parts. (1) The special effects, while state-of-the-art for their day, simply aren't impressive anymore. It's impossible now to watch the action scenes (in either STM or S:II) and enjoy them as much as you would if the same scenes were reshot, frame-for-frame, using current f/x technology.

(2) About 1/4 to 1/3 of STM sucked because every scene involving Lex Luthor was pure cheese. He had no backstory, no plausibility, and no menace.

However...while the effects were a bit cheesy....it doesn't mean the magic is gone when you watch it. Specifically, When Superman saves Lois from the Helicopter...I still get chills when Chris runs at the screen and opens up the shirt to reveal the S

And alot of the Lois/Clark lines were horrible; Clark also behaving like a total moron and attracting attention to himself.

Lets not forget; "Do you like pink!?"

And Margot Kidder's "Can you read my mind thing" was just incredibly horrible (the part of the film I hated the most)...so lame.

SR is finally doing Superman in a non cheesy way and some reviewers want the film to maintain the campiness of the 70s.. thats messed.

No argument there. That is one of my all-time favourite scenes from any movie. The whole rescue scene has got to be one of the most exhilarating bits in film history.

has anybody seen the spidey 3 trailer yet?

While Superman: The Movie (1978) and Superman II (1981) captured just the right mixture of camp and high adventure, Superman Returns takes itself too seriously and drags throughout for much of its 147 minutes

^

looks like someone still stuck in the 70's..smh camp and high adventure??
takes itself to seriously? what does he want..batman and robin camp?..these critics need to move on wit the times..gee zuz.

and let's not try to deny had ebert given this film a glowing review, all of your fanboy heads would be stuck up his ass.

No, because sweeping generalizations are bulls**t and I don't want my head anywhere near Roger Ebert's colon. That's just me.

Get that chip off your shoulder.

Todays Sunday Herald-Sun has a review. 3 out of 5 stars with a overall negative slant to the review.

The reviewer twice calls Metropolis 'New York'. Gets the running time wrong and says Hugh Laurie is Perry White :o

dude......you've got to post that. It sounds like the funniest thing I've ever heard.

Sad. But funny. But sad. But still very funny. Still sad. But, still very funny.

Dude, that's not Mojo saying that. It's somebody in a forum.

Bare with me please:

OK so I'll say sorry now because I know most dont want this topic being brought up but something crossed my mind and I took another look.

The verdict....Neither scan is real. Do I know this for sure? Hell no. I could be way off but a few things popped out at me that are suspicious. Now I know some claim that the good review is just som guy pointing out that a fake can be done....Fair enough. I'm focusing on the bad review because it has the full page and its the one everyone is debating.

Notice the stars beside some of the films? This star indicates that either the film is opening this week or later. Superman Returns has no star. EACH film that has a star...is NOT a review but a synopsis. The only two on there that do have reviews Clean and Three Times are on there because they were both released outside the US in 04 and 05. These are not new films people. Just newly released in the U.S. Also the review for Returns is off. It's scathing and fairly harsh for a short right up. The only thing that comes close is the minireview for the break up and even then it's not as personal as the returns review. I find this all highly suspect and as it stands right now... I wouldnt trust either scan or review for that matter.

If this stuff has been brought up...sorry but I'm bored. lol But take a close look. Both of them...fake.

The press sceening I attended had (logically) only WB trailers attached - The Ant Bully and Lady In The Water. It was WB's event after all. We will have to wait until Tuesday to see...

Brandon Routh:

Who are we talking about again?

ps.I thought that was the Smallville guy? ;)

How is The Lady in the Water looking? Sounds like an interesting movie.

There's actually a few reasons why this occurs in the videogame industry. I used to work for a video game company in the Silicon Valley. Sometimes reviewers don't get a finished game in time for review before release. Some companies send out near final versions of games for reviews but reviewers refuse to run reviews on unfinished games.

and also alot of gaming companies make ****ty games especially at lunch, go ask MS :o

As with most movies from this director, I've got chills and goosebumps several times just from the trailer... Looks interesting indeed.

Man, I think the next time I find a scoop like this, I'm just gonna keep it to myself.

I wouldn't worry about it. You'll be vindicated soon enough if it turns out to be true. I believe you though. Another guy over at the Oscarwatch forums pretty much posted the same thing early yesterday afternoon and he's known as a very reliable source of info.
