Well, I for once think the hatred for X3 on these boards is exaggerated... Some people make it sound like another Elektra... That´s one of the things that annoy me with fanboys, nothing can be simply "okay", it´s black or white, things rule or suck.

exactly. it's a sad world.

SR is the first of a new series. He shouldn't compare the film to the original in the first place.

Question: Ebert gave X3 a good review, comparing the amount of good reviews of both SR and X3, which one had the most and for good reason?

ultimate,

The reason for the exaggerated hatred toward The Last Stand is because of the behind the scenes mess that went on and the actually final product which has all the right ideas but the execution is so poor. It's a more frustrating experience than say Elektra.

The Last Stand is the greatest "What if..." film in this genre.

Why the hell are you guys mad that Ebert & that other dude gave it a bad review ? What the hell happened to just worrying about wether YOU & YOU ALONE LIKE THE MOVIE

Not really. It feels like the Donner films, Routh acts like Reeve, there's connections with the previous films. Ebert has every right to compare the two/three. That'd be the case if Nolan went with Burton's style, tone, and similar continuity for Begins.

Stop spitting out that horrid thing called common sense :p

People still compare Begins with Burtons style & there are those that think Begins is a Prequel to Burtons :o

They compare it in terms of which is better/greater quality, but they aren't comparing it like people are doing with Returns because it essentially is a sequel.

HAHHAHAHHA All you SR fan are *****, the man gave his review, if you don't like it you don't have to accpet it. Maybe you should see that he is comparing this to the orignal and the first sequel and for him it doesn't match up.

Makes sense....he's got a ***** for the original that would poke Jupiter.

Besides, Donner gave his blessing.....:D

But as many have pointed out, what the f*** else would you expect Donner to say? SR is his film on CGI steroids. Of course he liked it. ;)

Most people have common sense but they can't avoid getting emotionally involved.

And anyway, the reason why we care about critics opinions is because:
1. if something is indeed wrong or faulty in this movie, we'd like to see it corrected in the sequels.
2. SR will have tough competition from Pirates of the Carribean so we need all the positive feedback we can get.
3. Sometimes critics do point out things that you could've missed.

What's your stake in it? 5%? 10?

:D :D

Wait, thats right.

Even the people at DC, THE ONES THAT MAKE THE COMIC, loved it. How many good and bad reviews of SR are there?

The general consensus so far is that the film is great. It has flaws, but it's a great film. That's what I'm anticipating.

1) & how do you know if you will agree with the Critics with what they think they got wrong you could think they got right ? Thats all opinion right there & does not make the critics any less right then anyone else

2) So far this Movie has plenty of positive feedback so this Movie is fine

3) Some do yes but you should only worry about what YOU THINK or wether YOU LIKE the Movie or not. **** the Critics

Can anyone actually picture Paul Levitz in an interview...

INTERVIEWER: "Hey, so what did you think of Superman Returns?"
PAUL: "Meh. It was 'aight."

What's your stake in it? 5%? 10?

Please excuse my eastern european ignorance but HUH?

I should think that someone wha has seenn 10 000 movies in his or her lifetime knows more about movie storytelling then someone who has seen 500 movies in his or her own life time. Experience doesn't make you more right, but it does justify your opinions .

Doesn't mean we should just ignore whatever negative reviews we happen to come across.

F*** the bad critics, the ones that make up their minds before seeing a movie or allow to be far more subjective then they should be. I'm not saying they are these high and mighty individuals whom have to tell me what to think, but we should not discourage criticism. In the end I just want better movies. And the way to get better movies is to point out mistakes, flaws, wasted oportunities. Don't accept everything that Hollywood gives you.

Just ignore it. It was a joke. A sad excuse for one, actually. :O :D

Oh. I think I got it.
It really is a bad joke.

Try harder next time. I want jokes at my expense to be brainy damnit.

I'm disappointed in Ebert's review simply because more people know him and read his reviews, (including me). However, I have disagreed with him HUNDREDS of times. I definitely think his reviews are all over the place.

Ebert's bad review of SR might have to do with the fact he holds the Donner movie in such regard. Even to this day he compares comic-book movies to it. Look at his review for Spider-Man 2. I think he might have trouble getting over thge idea that Chris Reeve is no longer Superman and this is took more chances with the character and didnt make him so black and white.

Of course not but also there are those that has been against this Movie since Day 1 simply because Singer did not do THEIR SUPERMAN MOVIE. So before anyone gives any kind of Critic a chance I would think one would want to see what they thought of things in the past etc Critics can be bastards

.

To some but not to everyone. I like to see & decide for myself instead of listening to the Critics.

We have always been doing this we always point out mistakes but the problem is the Studio's do not listen. Have you seen the X Board's  Good examble right there with how FOX Studio does not listen to their own mistake's & they do it their way or the highway.

Hey guys, this is SuperKal from the BT forums and long time lurker here. The scan I posted is real. Anyone from the Chicago area can check Friday's Chicago Sun-Times in the "Weekend" section, page 27. I realize the movie's length in that little blurb (140 mins) is wrong but only the paper's editors can explain that. But I assure you the scan is real and has not been photoshopped. It was the only quote about the movie too, there's no mention of him comparing it to S:TM.

Well Ebert and Roeper is on tonight so I guess we'll all find out soon enough.

I know, I´m aware of that... But I will at least recognize that Ratner and his crew honestly and passionately tried to do a great X-Men movie, and in some moments, they did.
