Hopefully spidey pulls it out. Both Shrek and Pirates are hugely overrated franchises that people think are good because of the money they made and their popularity. Shrek was good the last two sucked ass, Pirates 1 was good Pirates 2 sucked ass hard and 3 was decent. Hardly what i consider great franchises. Spidey on the other hand has two movies that were great and a third movie which depends on who u ask on how good it is. The Spider-man franchise is better than both pirates and shrek critcally and finacially. which is hard for some fanboys to except and to a certain extent the general public.

Right now I'd say $350 million is out of the question, and about $340 million US tops, or thereabouts.

I'm seeing 880M-885M for SM3, not 900M. Although I do think that Pirates/Shrek are gonna hit 900M+.

Shrek ??? ...for it to hit 900 it needs 600 overseas....the 2 which was a huge hit made 480...Shrek will be lucky to hit 800...

You all seem very sure of yourselves. Don't underestimate the power of overseas tallies from Shrek/Pirates. I know I did with SM3's overseas cume. And I do believe that both Shrek/Pirates could hit over 300M domestically, especially Shrek.

Normally, I'd agree with you about Shrek (pirates...not happening). However, with another animated kiddie feature opening this week, it's domestic take is pretty much done for. Shrek 2 made what it did because it was teh ONLY animated feature in the theaters until the Incredibles hit in Auguzt of that year....this year it will have Ratatoille and Surf's Up to contend with...both of which look better than Shrek 3 was.

I honestly think that, after FF2 hits, the "big three" will be about tapped out, with Transformers finishing the job. Spidey will end up on top simply because, in a summer of blockbusters, it jumped out there first, biggest, and best.

Showbiz Data has the Thursday numbers up.

Shrek 3 will make it over $ 300 mil. It's already at 266. Pirates 3 will likely end up with either just under or just over $ 300 mil.

If it ends at 340 million, that's only 30 million difference from the second one or a 10% drop from the second one, which is pretty much the same drop the second film had from the first one.
