I think both Shrek3 and POTC3 will be pretty frontloaded. I guess at this point POTC3 has a better shot at competing with Spidey than Shrek. Shrek can be a little less frontloaded cuz of the kids audience, but it didn´t have as big an opening and will face Pirates right in the second weekend.

Holla. Loser soup haha. You're making me laugh as I eat some chicken noodle. The movie is good enough for people to recommend it to others and for people to see it multiple times. For people to say that the movie is bad or is a flop in some way....it's going to be one of the highest-grossing flops in history. Long live the webhead.

Spidey should top 900 million which is better than the previous two installments. It doesn't matter how it's sliced up. There are many factors for this including piracy, ticket prices, gas prices, alternative entertainment (video games dvd), low cost of DVD's, the economy, and of course the length of the film. It does make it harder to watch over and over except for the die hard fans. I saw it twice in theatres and will now wait for the DVD where I can watch it where and when I want at my leisure. This week is a holiday weekend so the drop off for Shrek will be muted but that's a kids film so not comparable anyways.

I went to the flee market the other day, it's a very big one and has like 30 plasma screens scattered throughout the building, anyway the owners had Spider-Man 3 playing on every screen. It was just annoying as how those bastards couldn't just go see it!

Uh, I don't know about 900M, nor do I care, let's try to hit 800M first, eh? If SM3 manage to beat SM2 and maybe SM1 worldwide, it will have done an excellent job. Please, let's not forget that Pirates is now coming out on Thursday and both Shrek/Pirates will start bleeding into overseas numbers. I'm just glad SM3 has already made its huge cume overseas, anything it makes after Shrek/Pirates flood the foreign markets (starting May 25/and Shrek in June) is gonna be a plus.

It looks like maybe on saturday the week drop is much less than most people expected alot of people thought with it continuing it's normal drop rate and the fact that Shrek The Third was out that Spiderman would be around 1.5- 1.9 for it to make it as high as 2.3 is great that's only about a 34 % drop which is good.

For sure it will hit 300M by sunday but I think it might make it on saturday.

I originally said by the 25th or 21 days. Spidey 1 made 300 million in 22 days and Spidey 2 in 19 days. This movie looks to be running neck and neck with the other two and outpacing both in the foreign market.It's going to be close-21 -23 days tops.My point is that the third in a trilogy is holding it's own on every front.t:

I am a Superman fan (hate SR, Love Superman the movie and Donners Superman 2) and I can say I am happy that Spiderman 3 is spanking SR's numbers. Not so happy about Batman Begins being spanked as that was a good movie, and I think it's numbers reflect peoples disdain for the last series. I think the Dark Knight will do a lot better. But SR. Hopefully Warner's will wake up and realize how bad they did, or, sorry, Singer and his Wack Pack did.

As far as the guys in the SR board, most of the detractors left as the bulk of the likers were acting like Nazi's to any derogatory comment of the film. And there are plenty to make as it is bad, filled with plot holes and a non-existent main character. These guys are really delusional when it comes to this film. They actually think SR's bad numbers are from:

$800M WW is a done deal. It's not a matter of if SM3 will beat SM1 and SM2's WW gross, its a matter of HOW MUCH it'll beat them by and I think it'll be close to $100M, as in around $900M total.

It doesn't matter what movies are opening up, viewership won't come to a complete halt because a new movie comes out.
