Wow, that's a 30% drop. Looks like Shrek didn't do so well either though. I guess it's because of the Canadian holiday yesterday.

The reason why little kids and teenage girls have ruined the entertainment industry is because instead of making good movies all studios have to do is put a couple of good looking guys in a movie and promote and teenage girls will flock to the theatre. Sometimes these types of movies are good but most of the time they suck. Same thing with little kids all studios have to do is make a little cute movie with talking animals and the little kids will flock and drag thier parents to muliple viewings. Insted of making good movies studios make movies that will cater to those two audiences which bring in the majority of money for those types of movies. Pirates and Shrek are decent and not the really good, but since the appeal to teenage girls and little kids they now money will be made.

POTC 3 over/under $ 147.5

Shrek 3 over/under $ 105.9

Spider-Man 3 over/under $ 24.8

What you think ? Think POTC 3 will beat Spider-Man 3's opening 3 day record ? I think Spider-Man 3 under. Shrek 3 under. POTC 3 over. I think Spider-Man 3's 3 day record goes buy-buy this weekend.

Last week Shrek 3 was over $ 110 million. Spider-Man 3 was under $ 37.5 million.

Right now at the Mojo Boxoffice Derby has :

The chances of POTC3 breaking the opening weekend record are Slim and none

Yeah critics only like those stupid ass drama movies. Any movie with big special effects and fun is always panned by them. Critics don't matter. The average person does not care about what a bunch of fat ass critics have to say about a movie.

It seriously requires alot of NOT THINKING to come up with the insane idea that it would make 300 before the weekend. Spiderman 3 has $286,385,002 and isn't even bringing in 2M ever day of this week. It is not simply unlikely that it will hit 300M before the weekend it is not even possible. I wonder what that guy was lighting up before he posted that prediction.

The Memorial day 4 day weekend record currently held by X-Men 3 $ 122.9 million goes down.

Spider-Man 3's opening 3 day total of $ 151.1 million may not go down, simply because when you open on 10,500 screens, that's hard to beat. It broke the record because of all the screens.

If POTC 3 opened on the same # of screens as Spider-Man 3, it would be no contest.

I agree that the Xmen record is going down but I disagree that POTC3 would of beat SM3 record had it had the same number of screens. SM3 was as high as it was for three reasons one the number of screens two it had huge promotion and more hype than Disney has given POTC3 and the third reason and probably one of the biggest is that it had no competition what so ever.

POTC3 has not had great hype or build up the trailers don't air half as often as Spiderman did. The amount of screens is lower but most importantly it is opening with SHREK 3 and Spiderman 3 both still in the theater and they will both make more than Disturbia did against Spiderman.

Wednesdays #'s are in $ 1.55 million. Updates below. Mojo has POTC 3 opening at 4,362 theaters. Spider-Man 3 opened at 4,324. So POTC 3 opening at 38 more theaters than Spider-Man 3. POTC 2 opened at 4,133 theaters. All I know is they have 14 showings a day at the local multiplex, and all showings thru Monday are sold out. Spider-Man 3 had 11 showings a day opening weekend. I think the pirates may be taking over again.

Yep, it looks like Pirates 3 may indeed break SM3's weekend record after all, it's in more theaters and it's a freakin' mega-movie. I'm thinking 164-169M in 3 days.
