Unfortunately that is wishful thinking, there will always be fanboys who will want their franchise to make more than another, even if that more is a dollar. lol. That's just the nature of the beast I guess. I for one can enjoy all franchises and hope they all do well. Now, sometimes I do want one to make a bit more than the other but overall I just enjoy them.

Although AWE finally gave the quality of the first back.

I am more than thrilled knowing that this might be my summer to get revenge and keep bringing it up like they shoved it down my god damn throat for all of last summer! So, if this keeps up- I'm not letting it go. They NEVER dropped it and neither will I.

I think this summer will be a pretty sweet revenge.

True while I am not surprised by Pirates performance given the competition I have to give the nod to Spidey for repaying Pirates for what it did to Superman Returns.

The buttkicking it put on SR was unconcionable.

It is only fair that we deal out justice for our fellow superhero.

Or some people just want a franchise that they consider to be awful to do terrible to send a signal that more effort should be put in to movies than just slapping two guy that women find hot and handing them a terrible script. I don't give a crap about the franchise war but lucky me the franchise war just happens to play in to what I want which is POTC to fail. I don't care what it's up against I don't care that it beat Superman (not a fan of him anyway) I don't care if it is in competition with Spiderman I just want a franchise that I think at this point is horribly written and not all that creative to be very disappointing in it's boxoffice

I literally had to put DOZENS of people on ignore, move to bluetights and every person leaving for bluetights was being ridiculed on here, had to change my screen name on here and became obsessed with watching the box office every single day. During last summer it seemed that everyone standing up for SR, or anyone who liked SR were being ridiculed, scorned at and sent into exile. I got the brunt of it because I made that thread.

So anyone looking for revenge because of their own experiences with SR last summer, well- I got the worse treatment of it all.

I eventually got over it, but that doesn't mean I don't have a vague memory of it and can smile and laugh right now.

So I'm really like Eddie Brock this summer in a way, but I've been granted a wish that I hope sticks. Instead of being gifted with the symbiote and becoming Venom- that's being here in a hero's brightest hour and DMC fans darkest.

Although AWE, actually went back to the great quality of COTBP.

Yup, SR is SM3's little brother, no matter how UGLY he is, he's still your brother, and you don't want the bully(P3) to put him in the hospital, because one day, he might become as big and pretty as you are, and be able to take care of himself.

That's the thing, not everyone agrees with that sentiment. I think the POTC movies are great, fun rides and I hope they do well. Now, I am a bit partial to the SM franchise, but I can appreciate POTC as well. But hey, we all have our opinions and it's all good.

Personally I feel like I'm on cloud 9 knowing that SM3 now has a much higher chance at being #1 due to what looks to be POTC3's opening.

I just hope 2 does the FF the justie it truly deserves . because 1 wasn't as good as it should've been . Doom was destoryed .

I think you all better wait for Box office Mojo's estimates on Sunday, before you all go counting Pirates 3 out. I'm not a fan of the Pirates franchise mind you, but you must factor in it's a mega-movie, and it's in more theaters than SM3. SM3 record isn't safe just yet, let us wait and see.

I saw pirates yesterday, its 1 long ass movie. I eoyed it but not as much as sm3. I think its running time may potentially hurt them, we'll just have to wait and see.

I would actually love to see another Pirate movie ... Not POTC, though. I'm tired of POTC, and that has absolutely nothing to do with this "rivalry." I don't get POTC, plain and simple. I don' t understand what people see in it. I mean, if they like it, that's fine ... But I don't get it. Haha.

When I saw trailers for the first POTC movie, I was excited. I was expecting Errol Flynn-like stuff. Instead, we got Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp (who looks like a pimple that's about to pop, if you ask me). I thought that the first Pirates movie was OKAY at best, but I was disappointed tremendously.

I saw the second movie last Summer, and it was torture. I hated it. All of the monsters and stuff were not needed at all. Instead of a Pirate movie, it felt like a sci-fi movie!

So, since I'm not a fan of the first two movies, there's no way I'm going to sit through the third one in theaters.

Being number 1 at the end of the year isn't safe for spiderman but his record is safe. Even if the early estimates are wrong they arn't going to be off by 40-50M seriously think about it for just a minute
